It is ultra light and provides two-hour battery life. However, some users may find the keyboard to be too small as it includes a numpad and takes a couple weeks to get used to. Additionally, the laptop is set to too aggressively throttle in software by default and requires tweaking.

Apple kills the non-Touch Bar MacBook Pro

I wish it was a bit bigger, there was room for this.The other issue is by default the laptop is set to too aggressively throttle in software and requires tweaking.Other than that fantastic all around, 2 nvme slots, 1 upgradable ram slot, lots of IO.

Discussion: are macbooks getting too heavy?

4.7 pounds is pretty normal for gaming and workstation laptops at 15 - 17 inches. I think a large M1 laptop at half that weight would be very nice, see the LG Gram 17 for instance.

5-inch model weighs 2.89 pounds, which puts it between the MacBook Air’s 2.75 pounds and the MacBook Pro’s three pounds. It’s not the lightest 13-inch laptop you can get, but it certainly isn’t cumbersome

Ultra light for a 17"

The speaker is terrible at high volumes and sometimes cause the whole machine to vibrate. What I love about this machine is the battery life, it last all day without having to recharge and that I can charge it from a PD power bank, which is another plus. Overall if you are looking for a 17" laptop for travel, this is perfect

Price

I like the weight and intent of this laptop, but the compromises are unacceptable, especially for the price. Laptop paint also chipped first day of light use.

128 GB is not Enough

It looks and feels like a premium laptop. Unfortunately, there are a good many compromises that make shave of a couple of stars from this review: no Thunderbolt, non-upgradable RAM, non user-replaceable SSD, no SD card slot. Even if one can live without the above, the price of this (and most products from Microsoft hardware) is way too high compared to the competition. They are charging Apple and Google hardware prices when Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Dell, etc

Screen Resolution

Contender for laptop of the decade

They chose an unorthodox but genius resolution of 2560x1600 ( used to be what'd come on those big Dell 30" super expensive monitors which was the highest resolution you could get on a PC monitor for many years ). It's a 16:10 aspect ratio, which you never knew you needed, but once you try it and can see so much more content without scrolling it'll be hard to ever love a 16:9 laptop again. Move your taskbar to the left side of the screen and voila, you have a semi-desktop-like web browsing experience.

Looking to buy a laptop great for trading?

Focus on a good, spacious, high resolution screen. My dad, for example, uses a investing/trading platform that’s web-browser based, so it’s been helpful to have a touchscreen to easier expand or contract the graphs.
