Lenovo ThinkPad P1g2 vs Microsoft Surface Pro 8

As the pocket-protector version of the ThinkPad X1 Extreme, Lenovo's ThinkPad P1 (starts at $1,679; $3,567 as tested) stands somewhat apart from its other mobile workstations. The 15.6-inch laptop is thinner and lighter than its ThinkPad P53 sibling, with lower memory and storage ceilings (64GB and 4TB, versus 128GB and 6TB), and its professional graphics options climb to Nvidia's 4GB, not-VR-ready Quadro T2000 instead of the colossal 16GB Quadro RTX 5000. But those are still impressive specs, and the P1 is an impressive choice for design or engineering pros seeking a road-worthy workstation

We did not open the shrink wrap as there was no indication of a keyboard. Be aware of false depictions of keyboard included even in the video. Otherwise, the product should be ok if you want a tablet, not a PC.

Z, CapsLock, Q, C, N, F9 are forever imprinted as white blobs on the screen of my $2k Lenovo due to poor manufacturing tolerances. When the screen is closed, these keys applied enough pressure to imprint permanent white blobs on the screen of this very expensive laptop. Lenovo no longer produces working fingerprint readers, their user interface is incredibly poor, and their keyboard to screen interference QC is beyond awful.

The Enter key is SO soft and mushy and I've noticed many of the keys, like the pair of Space bars, are also soft and don't register contact multiple times. VERY frustrating as I can type around 50 wpm and I'm having to Backspace WAY too much! GRR!. I want to send this POS back and try another brand, but I've found no other alternatives in my searches.
