Battery Life

The machine itself is very light as a result, with what I think is a battery that could use some more capacity if this is a travel machine. With typical use I got about 6-7 hours out of it, which leads me to another item to discuss..

Ultra light for a 17"

The speaker is terrible at high volumes and sometimes cause the whole machine to vibrate. What I love about this machine is the battery life, it last all day without having to recharge and that I can charge it from a PD power bank, which is another plus. Overall if you are looking for a 17" laptop for travel, this is perfect

Size

A good modest-priced laptop

Personally, I find this screen to be too big for a tablet, but you may not. The screen quality is really good and I like the way the keys and mousepad “click” positively when pressed. My only complaints are that it comes with Windows 10S (I immediately upgraded it to the Home edition), which is minor, and that it turns on automatically when you open the lid. That may be convenient, but I would prefer that it didn’t do that

I wish it was a bit bigger, there was room for this.The other issue is by default the laptop is set to too aggressively throttle in software and requires tweaking.Other than that fantastic all around, 2 nvme slots, 1 upgradable ram slot, lots of IO.

Weight

Very basic but fits our needs

It feels quite a bit heavier than the Microsoft Surface Laptop (v1) that we have. But it feels solid not plasticky and cheap. The keyboard feels nice and the screen doesn't feel like it's going to break off when you fold it back into tablet mode. The awkward thing about tablet mode though is why you're holding it, you're pressing all the keys on the backside

Discussion: are macbooks getting too heavy?

4.7 pounds is pretty normal for gaming and workstation laptops at 15 - 17 inches. I think a large M1 laptop at half that weight would be very nice, see the LG Gram 17 for instance.

When you want a "simple cheap" laptop, THIS is what you want

I know computers, THIS is your cheap laptop, best quality at this price point I've seen.

I like the weight and intent of this laptop, but the compromises are unacceptable, especially for the price. Laptop paint also chipped first day of light use.
