 These are my Chester race face pedals superlight. Really? I like those for writing flats. Obviously it added these bottle cages style points subtraction because they don't match and they're pretty chintzy. but hey, that's what you do when you're on a budget

 Other things I added are these: Blackburn for cracks? Super nice I Love these! Really really robust. Highly recommend. I Added a Soma front rack and actually now with the current Kona Sutra model, they have more of the bosses, the bosses, the nubs so I wouldn't even have to use these. I could just go straight on and that is a huge perk

 it just it feels like it grips to the ground and it feels more comfortable. I think with weight on it. So this thing is like meant to carry a lot of weight and take you all around the world. Which kind of brings me to my second point which is that it is very very robust

 The brakes have been really reliable. Okay, so other things I love about this bike. It has a fantastic gear ratio. This one is 9 speeds

Here's my dilemma:

I'm graduating in May, and am planning on spending this summer doing a fully self supported bike tour in the US (still haven't decided where, but probably west coast) while I apply for jobs. I'm looking to find a suitable touring bike.I'd like to invest in a great bike, however, my girlfriend and I are planning on taking a year off to do a world bike tour in a couple years (2023-2024), and I'd ideally like to biking with the best bike for the job (within a budget of around $2,000).

If I invest a top of the line touring bike now, will it still be top of the line for my year long trip in 2023? Or do y'all think that there will be significant updates to the models that will be coming out by then, in which case I might buy a much cheaper bike for this summer that I don't plan on using for my world tour. Another relevant factor is that my absolute limit for a bike is $2k, whereas hopefully in a few years I'll be able to dish out more than that.

Last year I managed to do a 5 day tour in New England with my old Cannonade R600 road bike, and somehow it ended up working great! Slightly tempted to use it this summer, but I know that's a terrible idea.

Additionally, if anybody has bike model recommendations, experience with applying for jobs while on tour, or route recommendations, I'd love to hear them!
