So let me try:. 2022 Kona Sutra SE = long-time classic Kona Sutra, steel-frame, triple-chainring Deore, rear-rack touring bike.

Hey all, investing in my first touring bike for Europe and have settled on the Kona Sutra. Trying to decide between the two.

The SE is a little cheaper, wondering if anyone has any insight into if the non-SE is worth it! I do prefer the integrated brake shifters… but beyond that I don know if I can justify it. I understand the drive train (2x10 vs 3x10) is another difference, but am still new to the intricacies of touring bikes.

Does anyone have any insight on the difference between the two?

Kona sutra vs Kona sutra SE?

These are mostly midrange drop bar bikes. I just bought a Kona Sutra this year and can personally testify that it‘s  an awesome bike.

Hello, I'm looking for help with finding a new bike.

I would like it to have:

Rear and front rack mounting points,
Disc brakes,
Drop bars or flat bars,
Under bottom tube cage mounting points as well as inside the frame,
Good gears for going relatively fast but mostly crawling up hills,
Chunky tyres or clearance for some!

I am not having any luck with searching for such a bike, it's hard and I believe to be more of an experience with knowledge thing so any help or pointers would be very welcome, thanks!

Surly Disk Trucker has a better geometry, a longer wheelbase and stronger wheelset for loaded touring.

I’m heading to Italy and Ireland for a slow tour (and to train for the AIDS LifeCycle ride!) and I’m on the fence about these two options, which are pretty similar but have clear trade-offs. My Surly, Lyman, has butterfly handles that I love but the brakes are really stiff and the bike weighs 10 lbs more than Chad, my Diverge. Lyman was great zooming around New Orleans for a week but I haven’t tried him on hills fully loaded and the weight worries me. I rode Chad about 600 miles around NW Europe and all went well except I never use the drops and don’t love being hunched over when I want to look at the scenery. I suspect putting my butterflies and a kickstand on Chad would be considered a crime, but I already switched to a suspension seat post and the Bicycle Police have stayed away. I use a pannier set up and hope to ride on a variety of terrain. Should I Frankenstein Chad or stick with Lyman and build up my hand strength? I just want to ride and be a tourist while training. Thank you for your thoughts!
