The construction quality on the RB42 would be impressive if they sold for $400, making one raise an eyebrow considering that they sell for $130. Micca may have cut corners in other places, but the curved 3/4-inch thick MDF cabinet wrapped in a laminate dark wood veneer isn’t one of them. The RB42 are solidly built loudspeakers that look great as well.

I tried the foam plugs for the bass reflex port in the back and positioning in/out from the walls, but the bass remained very woolly and not tight at all. Pairing with a subwoofer and having most of the bass go to the subwoofer cleans the sound signature up a little bit but the overall sound quality lacked detail and definition. The SONY CSS5 at $78-$128 per pair outperforms this $499-$599 speaker easily in definition, detail and instrument separation.

Despite the reviews of its jaw-dropping low-end quality these speakers produce, it's still missing lower frequencies. I didn't hear lower bass that the Logitech Z333 2.1s were making like when a vidoes showing a ground shake or things exploding, the sound didn't rumble fully as the Logitechs. Another negative would be its uncomfortable listening experience
