 I would recommend these Kanto speakers for people looking for quality above the typical desktop computer speakers. I would get the YU6's and purchase the subwoofer.

 The sound quality is average at best. When cranking them up the bass drops and the sound loses its quality in my opinion. I returned them because of the humming noise when I plugged them into my computer. I used the Bluetooth for a while but it becomes a little annoying to restart the Bluetooth process every time because of the auto shut off feature

 its really about the space you have them in and how that bottles up or frees the sound.

Sound is more well rounded than I’m used to, and they make me appreciate mids and highs a lot more. Picks up my phone as soon as I walk in the room. Turns on with the monitor if you have it plugged in via AUX, so great for gamers using monitors instead of tv’s. Impressive but could be improved

 These have a fairly modern bluetooth implementation, including aptx, which is necessary for decent wireless sound. It was between these and the peachtree m24, but the m24 does not have aptx. They pair very easily, have easy to use controls. Construction/build-quality seems perfect

 The energy saving auto-sleep works perfectly and was a requirement for me, I hate forgetting to turn things off which consume a lot of power. After a lot of research I selected the Kanto YU4's for one very big reason for me. The Kanto's are programmable with Logitech's Harmony series remotes. I looked at several other similar sized and priced speakers from Edifier & Audioengine and read stories of people not being able to program to a universal remote. The last thing I wanted was a separate remote

 These sound great for their size, not a ton of bass but you can add a sub (which I'm not) and they sound great for TV and Movies...dialog is very clear compared to the low end soundbar I had

 Also it has Qualcomm aptX bluetooth which is a step up from basic bluetooth in sound quality.

ONE HUGE "FEATURE" THAT ISN'T MENTIONED

This product is packed with features; however, when it comes to the sound these put out I would describe them as lifeless. The bass is not tight and has a loose feel while the mids and highs are no better than a portable Bluetooth speaker. I mainly bought these for an apartment figuring with the 4" speakers these would be better suited for low to mid volume levels with decent sound quality. Ill keep them because of the features and they look great, but as soon as I get a bigger room space out of an apartment these will be nothing more than decorations

Buy for features not for sound?

 They're magnetic, they look great, and they do have cutouts at the bottom for the volume knobs. You have quick access to turn it up and down, and the remote control sensor. They do also come with a wireless remote for easy control from across the room. So these are the PSB Alpha AM3s and the AM5, some really nice powered stereo bookshelf speakers with Bluetooth and phono inputs, a lot of really cool flexibility here, and they sound great

 Lenbrook also represents PSB speakers, Dolly speakers which I haven't tested yet, these speakers made me want to get the Dolly stuff to try out which is another Danish speaker company a rival of Dynaudio which I love so much and Bluesound and so I was really interested in NAD and Bluesound because they are the sort of the high end, Bluesound is like the high end version of alternative to Sonos because Sonos is not a high res company, they're a consumer focused company, I'm a professional grade consumer focused guy and so I was looking for higher quality audio that still had some high end, high end, high res audio capabilities and so NAD Bluesound and then the representative here in Florida, my now friend Mike Sugiecki suggested, he said maybe you should consider PSB as well for your lower end solution. I said no, I'm not really interested but I became intrigued and I did what I always do and I bought the whole catalog, so everything NAD makes, everything Bluesound makes, I hate the Bluesound speakers, I thought maybe that could be a nice little simple wireless type solution and then I got the PSBs and I want to prepare you, if you buy the black speakers and let's say you buy the AM3s, you're going to open this up and say man has lost his freaking mind, I was thinking the same thing, this is junk, so this is a vinyl raft, you can see the vinyl seam on the bottom, it has a rather kind of inexpensive magnetic type grill and it weighs, this is the amplifier speaker, so when you get the other it weighs nothing and you're going to be like, send these back immediately, so I bought I don't know how many thousands of 10 grand, because they have a lot of speakers, I bought every single one of them and I don't like all of them by the way, but I swallowed my pride and I said well I paid for these, I might as well set them up and listen to them and holy mother of God. This allows you to run HDMI, a single HDMI connection through HDMI audio return channel, so we have setup videos and all this stuff on the OG Shorts channel, so you can always go and check that stuff out, but 599 bucks in either color, 399 bucks, and that's today in October of 2021, I'm sure the prices of this thing, of everything in the world is going up, but as of today for 400 bucks, you want a really simple setup, you have an outlet you can plug into, you can run the speaker wire across behind your cabinets or something like that in your garage, your kitchen, your desk setup, I'm telling you, these things are freaking incredible, and for what they're going to compete against, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anything to touch these, and it's all the genius of Paul Barton, and you can go just Google search different reviews from different audio people, and you have to sift through the people that only deal with cheap stuff and look for the guys that are used to using high-end, listening to high-end stuff, I mean, they're going to talk about the quality of materials, not the fit and finish, but the quality of materials and the fact that you can palm, I can palm a five and a quarter inch speaker, there's not much to it, but that's part of the magic of this whole thing, it's a pretty magical experience for the money that you're spending, and you know me, I don't like talking about stuff that I don't freaking like, and I definitely don't like cheap stuff, and I certainly don't want to waste words on cheap stuff that I don't like, and I don't light up like this very often, but these freaking things are incredible, and they're going to be great for your garage, the simplicity of it, we'll get into more sophisticated systems if you want to do receivers and digital analog converters and things like that, we're going to have those systems as well, but if you want simple, inexpensive, great sound, skip the AM3s, this is just a price point thing, there's no reason why you would buy an AM3 over an AM5, buy the AM5s, I would for me, AM5s in white, you'll probably end up buying them for your iMac setup or your PC setup, that's where I think these really do best, then your upgrade path, get yourself a subwoofer, we'll have a separate subwoofer video, then get yourself a blue sound node, then you can upgrade your speakers in the future, you'll end up putting these somewhere else or give them to your kid or something like that. So that's the PSB story, I think we'll start to talk more about this PSB stuff as we learn more about it over time, but like I said, I don't get this excited very often, I don't have these in my garage, but if I was 23 or 30 and just bought my first house and I just got my first mortgage payment, I'm going to buy these and I'm going to smile ear to ear every time I go out in the garage and then I'm going to work toward getting a subwoofer to go with it and I'm going to have a great audio experience in the garage, the ferro fluid cooled aluminum tweeter, whatever they're doing there, whatever magic they're working to get rid of that tinny-ness of aluminum, it's just incredible

 My original intent was just to be able to sell fancy guns and wands and foam cannons and hoses and make some money there, that's the reason I was doing it and also it was to get people off our back that were asking all these questions and I discovered the 1700. This is an intro to the PSB Alpha AM3 and AM5. This is a more budget friendly line of active speakers. I think you're going to like these if you are looking for a less expensive option.

 So if you already have an amplifier or preamplifier, then the PSB-P5 provides really good tone, really good high frequency extension, and very well balanced sound without breaking too much bank. But the AM5 is also very good value if you don't have all that, and if you are looking for a setup with the P5, but you're looking at amplifiers and so on, then I am really hard pressed to recommend something for $200 or $500 for that matter that would outperform what's already in the AM5 and what's been done with the max bass algorithm.  Not only is the bass strong, but it is very textured and it feels real and it feels natural. And it feels just enjoyable. As long as I have my, you know, purest hat off. But there are caveats to the speaker that I want to get across

So in conclusion, I still recommend the passive version, the P5, for those that are looking for a really good mini monitor setup. The PSB Alpha P5 passive loudspeaker, which was released in 2019, received near-universal critical praise. Building on the P5 platform, PSB introduced the Alpha AM5 in late 2020. The AM5 is a powered loudspeaker with digital and analog inputs. In fact, the left- and right-channel analog inputs feed an onboard phono stage, so a pair of AM5s can be used with a turntable as well as a digital source. This new speaker also also features digital signal processing (DSP) to tailor the frequency response and control the MaxxBass, MaxxDialog, and Maxx3D sound-enhancement effects it offers.
