 Once I bought the projector (and waited weeks for it to arrive), I started feeling like my Monoprice speaker setup was a little lean... I somehow got my wife to also agree to a sonic upgrade

Built my own Atmos theater to be better than my local AMC!

 The remote is small and hard to see in the dark, though it is back-lit once you press a button, i find the controls a little cumbersome to navigate but the menus are pretty straight forward. One of my favorite features is that it saves zoom and position settings so you can just select a preset and go back and forth between watching super widescreen movies and the more TV friendly 1.85 aspect ratio movies as well once you zero them all in. Thats a feature that was missing in the comparably priced Sony model that helped make my decision even easier

They agreed to give me a full refund of the item, and I opted to buy the equally well reviewed (on Amazon) and nearly universally better reviewed among forums and tech critics (if that's what they should be called, I can't think of an actual title for them) BenQ 1070.  The conclusion to my novel or a review is that I believe if and when the Optoma HD141X is functioning as it is designed to, it is quite impressive, especially for the price. However, the back to back defective units, with their unique and shared issues combine with the lackluster customer support left me with little confidence in the Optoma brand

 While both are excellent pictures, at least with my set up, the BenQ has brighter and deeper colors and produces a deeper black. I wish I had better luck with Optoma, but in the end, I believe it lead me to a better product (albeit only marginally) so long as it doesn't start tanking on me.  I hope this review was helpful. I ultimately selected the Optoma HD141X because of the generally very good reviews and the price.
