I bought my Roomba i7+ 2 years ago. A few months back she started giving me an error 16.

 For the exorbitant price I paid for the iRobot, I would expect it to exceed the cleaning performance of my other lower priced robot vacuums. I did not expect it to get stuck constantly, to have as many errors and stoppages, nor did I expect it to go offline as much as it does. I did a lot of research. All the claims were that it had superior cleaning capability

 I have more problems with the iRobot getting stuck and having errors, then with my other robot vacuums. This brand was hyped to be a superior cleaning machine over other brands. That is not the case! I overpaid for a robot vacuum that doesn't work any better than my other robot vacuums. It does not exceed them by a long shot

This is a good robot vacuum, but overpriced. I have two pets a dog and a cat, and I dog sit other pups on the regular. I hate animal hair all over my floors and before I had robot vacuums I would vacuum twice a day. To make life easy, I have three robot vacuums

 I don't have to remember to empty the vacuum after every run. My other robot vacuums must be manually emptied. If I forget to empty the other vacuums they don't clean as well, and when I finally do empty them they're so packed full that the debris falls out when removing the dustbin which causes a mess. Bottom line: is this a good robot vacuum? Yes

 After the first segment (battery depleted) it has at least returned the base to the correct location. I still haven't gotten a response from my emails to customer support that started on 12/5/2020. I've had to add some physical barriers in front of several pieces of furniture and a treadmill to keep the roomba from getting underneath because it gets stuck about half of the time (those old college text books finally came in handy for something. I've also used a baseball bat and the old extension tubes for my central vac that I'm hoping I won't need again

 Update 12/22/2020 The replacement arrived on time. The next day I started mapping runs. It took 3 five hour mapping sessions (including charging time) to generate a complete map so I don't consider the mapping to have been any smoother than the first two but at least this one appears to be accurate. I've started a couple of small cleaning jobs and the roomba seems to be performing as requested with one minor annoyance

 Unfortunately, the map will have to be generated again (third time) but he assures me it will be a much smoother process this time. If so, I expect to give it 4 stars. It's not getting 5 stars until I can more easily generate a map and they can allow indefinite (or at least 24 hour) job delays so I can suspend cleaning overnight and have it pick up where it left off the next. So far cleaning has been adequate but could be better; I assume the "better" would come from the S9 with its greater suction

Didn't work (initially) in my large house.  Replacement worked.

 You can tell iRobot put a lot of effort into this. So I did the mapping run then followed with a "vacuum everywhere" run, no virtual barriers yet. Not only was the robot able to navigate my entire floor cleaning everything, it didn't get stuck once, even under the kitchen cabinets or dining room chairs, truly impressive. It did need a charge in the middle but at an hour or so to top up, the cleaning process completes in a much more reasonable time period

 Also important to note is that the N8 will want to recharge at 15% battery, so the most you ever really get out of this thing is 85%. The next big problem for me was the design of the auto-empty base. They opted to use a dual port discharge method that sucks from 2 doors in the dust bin simultaneously. I was prompted with a firmware update right away so let that run and waited until the next day to do the initial mapping run

 All the areas the N8 falls short work as intended or better on the i7, despite being lower tech. And this is after I was almost positive I wouldn't buy another Roomba!  i7 Pros: -Competitive price -Premium look and feel -Systematic cleaning pattern -Free in-box extras (1 bag, filter, rotating brush) -Excellent battery and charging performance -Excellent auto-empty base -ZERO issue with long pet hair -Intuitive and granular control via the app (clean zones, no go zones, defined rooms that can be scheduled) -Smart Maps works really well  i7 Cons: -Old school vSLAM bump sensor tech that will mar the more stuff it bumps into -RCON sensor sits in harms way atop the bumper -Single rotating brush could be improved -Room lighting is required, this thing doesn't do well in the dark -No variable speed motor = higher noise, about the same as my 960

 The robot functions very well in general and is a very good vacuum, all told. The downsides that I experienced, however, were enough for me to return it. The key cons here are battery life, recharge time, the auto-empty base and getting stuck. Your first step with the N8 is the initial mapping of your floorplan which must be completed fully before you can do anything, I mean anything

 I love the fact that it notifies you each time a job is completed. No more guessing what was cleaned and what wasn't. In my opinion the Roomba I7+ is almost there but needs some adjustments. For the money spent on it I think it would be worth it but for the noise it makes while cleaning

  1. It is very loud when cleaning. As both my wife and I work from home I quickly learned that it can not be run during the day because it is just too loud and distracting. I also found that I couldn't run it in the evenings as it made TV watching unbearable

 I don't believe it picks up as well as my other one because when I compare what I use to clean out of the other ones dustbin with what I see in the bag of the Roomba it just doesn't seem as much. Plus I know our socks are picking up more dog hair than in the past because I see it on our couches and ottomans now. I can tell it does just as well with hair on tile as my old one but not so well on carpet or rugs.  4

I read many, many reviews before I invested in this item, as it was a lot of money to spend, and sometimes a couple of bad reviews make you not want to purchase something. I finally decided to take a chance and purchase the vacuum, and I am glad I did. I’ve had it for a week now, and it has mapped all of the areas in my house I want it to clean. We have 4 children, and I can never count on their rooms being picked up enough to send this in there

 I am extremely happy with it. It is helping me tremendously keeping the house picked up. We have 3 cats and 1 dog who constantly sheds. My biggest concern with these robot vacuums was vacuuming my living room and then it needing me to empty it before it would continue

 When it empties it sounds like a mini jet engine starting up. Probably no louder than your average vacuum, but that is something to consider if you plan on only running it overnight. I hope we don’t experience any issues, but if we do, I did purchase the 3 year extended warranty on Amazon. It was by far the best deal when I compared other retailer’s warranties, so for the next 4 years I have zero worries if it does breakdown

 I love the mapping feature and it’s ease of use. It mapped my laundry room and dining room as one area. My dining area is always picked up, my laundry room is not. It was very simple to add a divider on the map to make that one area, two areas, and I can tell it to stay out of the laundry room when I know there’s a mountain of laundry on the floor

iRobot Roomba i7+ Review: What to Know Before You Buy

If you're looking for a robot vacuum with a mopping attachment for dealing with sticky messes on tile floors, consider the Roborock S6 MaxV. This robot vacuum struggles more with bulky debris compared to the iRobot Roomba 981 and has more trouble climbing over obstacles like electrical cords, but it does have a mopping attachment and an integrated water tank. It stores a permanent map of its coverage area, so you can set up zones where you don't want it to vacuum or mop and direct it to clean specific areas. It has no trouble cleaning pet hair or small material from tile floors. There's an onboard surface detection system that enables it to automatically change its suction power mode depending on the surface type that it's on, which is helpful if you have any small rugs on your tile floors. However, while the vacuum feels very well-built, many parts need regular cleaning or replacing, including its brushroll, side brush, mop cloth, and allergen-trapping HEPA filter.

Get the iRobot if you want a vacuum that easily cleans bulky debris and does a better job of climbing over obstacles. Consider the Roborock if you're looking for a robot vacuum with a mopping attachment and more advanced mapping features.

 My initial impression, and I still have a lot of tests to do here, is that the S6 Max-V is better than other AI bots with cord avoidance and other pre-programmed items, but it's slower to adapt to new items that it hasn't seen before. And it's hard to say without extensive testing how it will do over time, but I suspect based on its cord performance that it will be excellent once it learns the item. One thing I wanted to mention is that I know a lot of people get weirded out by the camera, but from what I can tell, these companies are going above and beyond trying to assure people that no data is being used or stored. In conclusion, I'd say that my take on the S6 Max-V is that it's a top-notch premium robot vacuum, but when you add all the app features, and especially the AI, I expect this model to be one of the best sellers in the premium robot vacuum market for some time

 Whether that's heavy, fine debris like sand or large debris, they don't scatter a lot of debris with their side brushes, and in general they have a nice, clean pickup, not usually requiring multiple passes to get all of the debris. It does have more stated suction power than most Roborocks at 2500 Pascals, up from 2000 Pascals, which we saw on the original S6. It also has more rated power in terms of watts than both the S5 Max and the S6, and in our airflow tests it had higher airflow than the S6 as well. So it was no surprise that it also did better than the older S6 with a deep clean test, where I embed sand into medium pile carpet and weigh the dustbins after a 5 minute run

 In our tests I found that once the pad was soaked it was as good or better than any mopping robot I've tested yet. It has all the premium software features that in my opinion really add a lot of value, things like no-go lines, where you draw lines or boxes in the map in the app to keep the robot from going where you don't want it to go, something I now consider a must-have with any premium robot vacuum. It has a feature where you name rooms and you can send the robot to clean certain rooms and to avoid other rooms, and even to set power levels, schedules, and other preferences specific to each room. It also has multi-level mapping, which is where you can save multiple maps with multiple no-go zones and multiple no-mop zones for different levels of the house, which is a feature that Roborock owners have been waiting for for a long time

 It also has more rated power in terms of watts than both the S5 Max and the S6, and in our airflow tests it had higher airflow than the S6 as well. So it was no surprise that it also did better than the older S6 with a deep clean test, where I embed sand into medium pile carpet and weigh the dustbins after a 5 minute run. It had the same anti-tangle brush that all the newer Roborock models have, which I found to be better than average but still not perfect at resisting hair tangles. For example, I saw no tangles with 1 gram of 5 inch hair, but it averaged about 20% of the hair tangled with 7 inch hair, so well above average but still not perfect
