Ibanez 2019 SR500E Bass Guitar

Or at least no longer a great deal. 4-5 years ago back when they were US$275 new they were steals, but now that they're $430 plus tax and shipping, they're no longer this amazing moneyball solution, they're at best a decent bass at a fair price. In my opinion if you've got $500 to spend on a bass I'd get a used Mexican Fender or Ibanez SR500, that's where the real value is at that price point.

So, I play guitar, for like 9 years now.

My question is: is the Sire a significant upgrade from the squier? I know it's got a roasted maple neck and all, but is that a big factor, if I'm going to distort my sound either way (I mainly play metal)?

[Question] What bass to go for as a beginner?

On the plus side, it's comfortable, nice to play, good quality for the price. The preamp offers many possibilities once you've figured out the controls, and it also has a passive mode. The pickups work well in both mode, and they have 4 wires so if you know how to solder you can add switches to get more sound options.

Ibanez vs Sire

the main reason to get a SR500 is I believe those are the cheapest Ibanez that have those sweet bartolini pickups. I have a 500 and it's great, I think if you get a used one in good condition and give it a proper setup it will make you very happy

So here we go with another “which is best” post. My birthday is coming up soon so I’ve decided to finally get a **nice** bass. I currently have an Ibanez MiKro which is lovely but I can hear the problems you get with a &lt;$200 bass when I play. Time for better!

I prefer playing alternative and metal hence wanting a 5-string (I play other genres for practice but we all have that style that makes us happy). I love me some Ibanez and am trying to decide between the sr300 and sr500. As far as I can see they have the same features but the sr505 improved hardware. Is there a noticeable difference in the two? 

I need to clarify that I am not a professional musician nor do I intend to become one. I just really like playing music as a hobby.

Ibanez SR305 vs SR505: worth the extra$?

Ibanez is pretty lightweight. The SR series by Ibanez is a good way to go. I used to own an SR500 and it was a great bass. It’s a bass I certainly miss and if you can find a pre-owned one in good shape they tend to be priced pretty reasonably

Both are fantastic basses but I'd choose the Ibanez simply because it's lighter in weight.

I've been looking for a 5 string for around 400$, and I think I managed to narrow it down to 2 basses: the Ibanez SR305 and the Harley Benton HBZ-2005 Deluxe Series. I'd be glad to hear opinions on any of these two, or other 5 strings around this price range you recommend and I could have slipped over.  I had been mostly playing on a 4 string Ibanez before, which I am totally satisfied with, but I had very nice experiences with some Harley Benton basses too.

Please also bear in mind that I live in Eastern Europe so Thomann and this price range is kind of my only option.

Consider a Sire Marcus Miller bass. Amazing value and playability. I’ve been ignoring my Dingwall a lot since picking up a V5 on a whim.

help me decide which one to buy

I have a sire m2 and I love it. Amazing quality for a 400 dollar bass and everyone I've showed it to has been impressed with the feel and tone of it. I truly believe it's one of the best basses you can get for the money.

Picked up a Sire Marcus Miller v7 alder 4 string in Tobacco burst last month from GC along with a used Dapper Bass. I haven't loved playing this much since I was gigging regularly years ago.

Anyone else have a Sire MM and/or the dapper bass pedal? I love both and want to know what you've learned as far as tweaking settings, intonation, effects combos, or whatever other info or tips you've learned about the gear while having it. Learning from someone else's experience always helps me progress in my playing.

Excuse my dirty feet and pedal bag, they both just came out of storage.
