The HP Stream 11-y010nr is a budget laptop that offers good performance for its price. It has a decent battery life of 8 hours and 36 minutes, which is enough for a work or school day. However, it was slower than its competition in our Handbrake video-editing and encoding test, and was outpaced by the Dell 3162 and Asus Mini in terms of battery life.

The LG Gram 17 is a great choice for those looking for a laptop with great portability, fantastic battery life, really nice screen, good range of connections, and decent performance. It is ultra light and provides two-hour battery life. However, some users may find the keyboard to be too small as it includes a numpad and takes a couple weeks to get used to. Additionally, the laptop is set to too aggressively throttle in software by default and requires tweaking.

Launching programs takes several seconds, and after installing Office we had as little as 2GB of free space left; we clawed back 4GB more by uninstalling a previous version of Windows, but you won't be installing many apps beyond, perhaps, a favorite browser and a few utilities. You can also bolster the storage using a microSD card.

Eventually, I tried Xubuntu 18.04, and the install was effortless. Xubuntu is rather fat for a supposedly light weight distribution (the equivalent Debian tends to use about a third fewer resources). A word about installing anything else but Windows: To get into the BIOS, you need to hit the Escape key

4.7 pounds is pretty normal for gaming and workstation laptops at 15 - 17 inches. I think a large M1 laptop at half that weight would be very nice, see the LG Gram 17 for instance.

Battery Life

A good deal on a small laptop with SSD. Definitely get the 64GB version

So far the battery life, with standard settings, has been very good. If you fnd this one on sale, its a good deal.

Ultra light for a 17"

The speaker is terrible at high volumes and sometimes cause the whole machine to vibrate. What I love about this machine is the battery life, it last all day without having to recharge and that I can charge it from a PD power bank, which is another plus. Overall if you are looking for a 17" laptop for travel, this is perfect
