I want a shoe that has the cushion and drop of my Hoka Speedgoat with the toebox of my Altra Olympus 4.0.

Beware they do run very narrow at the toe and are not for everyone. If you needed the extra toe room you could look to the Hoka EVO Speedgoat,. EVO Mafate 2 or the Mafate Speed 3, all of which are high cushioned but have a stretchy bit of fabric over the toe, which can make the fit more accommodating.

I currently run in Nike Pegasus Trail Gore Tex. they are ok. But not great.

Shoes for long days of running &amp; hiking

I’ve done a couple ultras in loose snow, which felt a lot like running in sand to me. I’ve used both the SpeedCross and Hoka SpeedGoat. The ‘goats might have had the advantage due to the much wider sole helping with flotation, but I felt they got a lot heavier when wet. In all instances I studded the soles with about 8 sheet metal screws at the end of some select lugs, which I felt helped with a little extra grip even when ice wasn’t an issue

Wondering if anyone had any advice about shoes that may be better suited for sandy environments. I’m used to running in rocky, rooty, muddy Vermont environments and want to be better prepared for a trail that is relatively flat but very sandy. I currently sport the Salomon speed cross 5s and have used them in sand before but really don’t feel like the larger lugs give any advantage

Recommendations for trail shoes for sand

For years I wore boots (really heavy), then shoes (heavy) and now trail runners (not so heavy). I prefer the Hoka One Speedgoat trail runners. They are good for dry conditions, have great grip and stability (for me). I have never had ankle stability issues, so it works great

Does anyone backpack with trail running shoes? If boots, do you use actual “backpacking” boots or just something with ankle support?

, (4) have great cushioning for all-day wear on sharp surfaces, and (5) are not so heavy that I feel like I'm fighting the shoe when picking up the pace. I've run in Altra Timps and Lone Peaks, Brooks Caldera 4, La Sportiva Jackal, Salomon Sense Ride 3, and Topo MTN Racer 1s and none of these had all-day underfoot cushioning and protection against sharps like the Speedgoats. The durability of my Speedgoats have been good.

New trail running shoes

I run in the Speedgoat 3s and the Speedgoat 4 is a step back for me with regards to weight since it got heavier. The Speedgoat Evo on the other hand, is a huge improvement and superior to the Speedgoat 3 and 4.

For 3 season hiking I chose Hoka speedgoat 3, followed very closely by the brooks cascadia. They're both VERY comfortable shoes that are light and breath + dry very well. Lightness + Breathability + Drying quickly > a heavy gnarly boot that tries to keep you clean and dry but inevitably will get water logged from sweat anyway or the elements, just might take longer vs a trail runner. Also 1 pound on your foot is 5 pounds on your back

I'm  new to hiking but my girlfriend finally convinced me to go to a hiking  trip with her, somewhere around Schönau am Königssee and on the mountain area around it (nothing extreme tho). I've been looking for some proper shoes cause I'm  pretty sure I would regret it if I go with my ultra boost, and I've  found a few alternative:

1. Salomon  Quest Prime GTX: The only boots. Is it okay or overkill? I think it's  the most robust of them all and I can wear it when hiking during winter  or ski vacation. (114 euro)
2. Salomon  XA Pro 3D V8: trail runners, seems really comfy. However, no  waterproofness (can't use it in winter). I don't know if it offers  enough protection and grip? (96 euro)
3. Salomon  Trailster 2 GTX: quite similer to the XA, with GTX waterproofness.  However I've heard some controversy regarding GTX on trail runners (too  warm, sweaty feet). (72 euro)
4. Last  but not least: Merell Moab 2 (vents or GTX). Mother of all boots.  Almost bought the vents one immediately but read that it's really,  really prone to getting wet (even with just some wet grass). Not sure if  it's true and if I should just get the GTX version. Both around 80-90  euro.

What do you guys  think? Sadly I can't go to Globetrotter cause of the 'rona. I appreciate  any answer or if you have other suggestions, I would be very thankful!  Thanks and sorry for the long post. :)

 Last year we had a flat tongue this year we don't and it's still all good and something that is also good. It'S the under foot, cushioning there 10a TVA. It'S all about giving us more cushion for the pushing the pace here we have a revamped fresh foam called fresh foam X and apparently adding an X to an already established technology is the key to success. Now this fresh foam is straight-up comfortable if you're into the plush soft compressive ride

 I will try the tempo New Balance. You'Ve been killing it this year, yeah you got, the rebel, feel self repeal you got these and there's none tased late last year, early this year. New Balance is my brand of the year so far, and I think the 880 is like my sleeper. The 880 is like my put it on and go shoe like easy to wear you know, and then you have the beacon you have this guy

 This year we got an engineered high pony, which is similar to what we've seen in shoes like the New Balance, Dante pursuit. This net has a very elastic stretchy feel to it, and I found it to be a bit snug at first around the toes, but once it adapts, it's good to go. Breathability in this shoe has also improved in some ways. The ventilation over the toe box helps air flow, which is nice because nobody wants hot feet

 The shoe store has that bootie like fit, which keeps the face. Snug and simple in the mid foot area of the shoe did feel snug from what I'm used to in a 1080 series on the sides. He got some stitch on overlays within the design to help give the mid-foot some structure, and while it does help keep the mid foot locked in it didn't feel a bit too snug at times, not to the point where it was uncomfortable, but just snugger than what I would like I tried the wider sizing and that just made the shoe too loose. The other big change is this new heel design, they're, calling it the ultra heel, and when I first saw this, I was like

  My only minor complaint is that the upper feels slightly loose—slightly. I doesn’t seem to be the wrong size; it’s just that the foot well feels a bit oversized (which is something I never experience as someone with slightly wide feet). My foot can slide forward or to the side ever so slightly inside the shoe when stopping or turning quickly. Feels odd (but not painful)

 I don't see too many issues with you know it's just not it's just not that narrow of a shoe on the bed. Let me just see a little bit more on the bed: yeah, maybe a little, maybe a little snug through the mid foot, but overall I think you're gon na be ok all right. Let'S pull out. Usually, I don't do this on the first impressions but pulling out the insole I'm trying to remember to do that

 It'S just perfect, so good work. I love what they're doing in the heel counter for these new new New Balance shoes you can see if they're on the beacon as well. Just that flare in the back, and it just feels so good I can - I can tell there's gon na - be no issues with the Achilles tendon like getting a blister or something happening in the back here. It'S amazing so, and also I don't know it's just like it's just a nice, it's just a really nice material in the back here in what would be called the collar of the shoe okay

 Is it worth it? I don't know yet feels maybe a little high, but we'll see I'll keep you posted one hundred and fifty dollars brand-new out of the box. So how will I use this shoe moving forward? I don't know, I don't think it's an easy day shoe for me. I don't think it's a long-run shoe for me. I don't know

New Balance 1080 v10 First Impression Run

 I'm a fat guy and these are great on the treadmill. Please know that I buy for comfort and light weight and a wide toe box and these have it all. I'm not planning to race, all I want is a shoe that protects my knees and joints from too much pounding while I train. Wish me luck losing the weight and I WILL be buying a second pair of these ASAP because as we have all come to learn Shoe companies stop making your favorite shoe after such a short time it's criminal!!

 It is known to be a little unsteady. The Nike Pegasus runs narrow, and the Brooks Ghost is a mid-cushion shoe, so if you want to go Brooks, go for the Glycerin and size up at least half a size.  The New Balance 1080 is a wonderful shoe, one of my favorites, but the midsole will probably not hold up as well as we would hope weight-wise.

EDIT: I converted Euros to USD and realized I have probably overshot the budget. With that in mind, skip the Novablast if you have high concern for rolling your ankle. Hi, I need to buy a new pair of sports shoes which are easy on joints and hopefully cheap. After 4 days of research from different sources (mainly from here and RunRepeat), I am more confused then ever. As I live in a small town, I don't have any runner stores in the area so I am on my own regarding to finding a good fit. Yesterday, I found a deal for Clifton 8s that are only 80 euros but I am not sure whether to buy them or not. I would really appreciate your suggestion no matter how small it is :)  


Note: I will use them for daily walking + GYM.

Suggestion for overweight male (130KG)

., the soles on this are exposing high wear areas to to direct contact to gravel and road..meaning, the black rubber insulating that soft marshmellow type foam base is missing on alot of the bottom of the shoe and so ur gonna be putting that soft foam in direct contact with the road

 one, i wanted a shoe with a springy energy return and could only give this 3 out of 5 in that respect... there are Better shoes out there for this money
