That said, there are a couple issues with the knife that prevent me from giving it a perfect score (not that I really score anything on here anyways). First, the handle is cramped. This knife is not going to replace my Griptilian or other work knives any time soon. I could have gotten the 4″ version, but I usually don’t like to carry folding knives that large

But if the X5 speaks to you as a collector and enthusiast, then I’m here to tell you to answer the call. It’s mostly an awesome knife. Not my desert island EDC, but there is a lot to enjoy with this one. And like the EX-04, I don’t see myself offloading my X-5 any time soon

 This is a great steel that provides easy sharpening and good edge retention. I’ve had some issues with 154CM staining in the past, but obviously this coated blade is not going to rust at all. 

 Allen Elishewitz is among the best knife designers I have met, and this X-5 puts his talents on full display. At any rate, the blade features a simple high flat grind, a neat swedge and a fine tip. There is a slight amount of belly. Nothing crazy, but the edge is one continuous curve

 This is a very loud knife. You pop it open it's loud and you close it again and it's loud again, nice resonance there, but it's! This is not gon na, be a subtle, quiet knife. You can put it away more quietly if you hold down the button lock on it, but even still it's gon na as it the detent slips by. I don't know, I'm just not a huge fan of that and they even the assist is loud

 Being a gun, company hasn't hurt this guy. The other thing is that there is no disassembly video for this knife and that's because um well, not only is this kind of a weird knife with an assisted button lock, but it's also the LCD screws and red loctite in the middle there. So I didn't want to risk using a soldering gun on this little guy here to reduce the Loctite as well as potentially scratching up the hardware. So that's why there's no disassembly sorry about that

 It allows you to use this guy with Fetty grip you'd like even though it is a button lock. So that's a nice little detail and then, finally, that the knife on the hole is very very nicely made. I mean the fit and finish is overall, pretty damn good. The milling is nice

 The harpoon is fun the g10 inlays a nice. It looks like a freaking stealth bomber, which is nice, and you got a couple of different options. If the stealth bomber look isn't quite up your alley, let's talk about what's great here. To me, what's great here is that this is a very, very unique knife

 Benchmade Mini bugout is an awesome small pocket knife (my current edc). Also Protech malibu is amazing and so are ZT knives (0450). ZT makes some great knives for the price.

I may have a problem...First $100+ knife purchase. Now I’m afraid I need all of them. I’m new at this, what should my next purchase be?

 Why see right here. This is a knife that has a clip on here. It'S a deep carry clip but, more importantly, the clip sits into a recess in the frame and the screws are completely flush. If we compare that to oh, i just had something on my table that got this wrong

 There'S fancy milling on the titanium version, which looks good good, ergos, good blade shapes uh, a nice blade, generally speaking, ambidextrous lock style a great clip completely manual made in the usa and 190 bucks made in the usa price. That'S pretty damn good. On the great side. The action the action is good manual button locks are a joy um

 This is the protech knives sprint, which is an automatic knife which is much smaller um, but also very pretty so anyways there you go. That'S your size. Comparison next thing, you'll see here on the table that there are two versions of this guy. This one up here is the one cliff blade style, although it's not a conventional one, glyph like, for instance, this guy, the qsp penguin with the flat edge on the bottom they did

 I will say that the uh, the geometry on the edge meaning the way the edge is formed with that with that belly going all the way through and then to the reverse, tonto uh push cuts. This would actually do very, very well. You know your slicing it'll. Do very well, it does need to be thinner behind the edge i just knives are tools and they're meant to cut

 If you look it's, it's actually thinner. You see how that's, let's see we'll do one at a time. So you see how thick that one is here's the osborne, definitely a little thinner, but it also gets thick also gets thick. If i were protec, i would slim down the grind of this knife

 It'S definitely a little bit bigger blade wise handle wise in the delica. So let's put the delica back. Let'S check out that pm2, so a little shorter than the pm2, but blade wise, let's see, handle the handle and i mean cutting edge. It definitely outpaces the pm2 and cutting edge handles definitely going to be smaller than either of them just barely a little bit bigger than the delica

 These knives are both in 20 cv. Look how thick one is over the other. Just look at that insane. So, let's get into my thoughts on the knife, i will say very fidgety

Lightning OTF. Goddamn if this isn’t one of the best $30 I ever spent. It’s like 8 years old, been beat on, and still fires hard every time. This sits on top of my fridge as a dedicated Amazon package knife

 Anytime someone asks for a recommendation on their first “nice” knife, this is it. Cant beat the material and quality for the money anywhere IMO.

I'Ve been excited to see this come to life for quite a while, and i've actually been saying since the beginning, since the very first time i handled you know the first version of this knife, i said this is a

 Can you see that there's a little smooth area so that when you, you know when this thing comes in and out of your pocket you're, not quite fighting that texture, because the texture wall not aggressive, definitely definitely adds grip to an otherwise kind of type 3 hard Coat anodizing on aluminum is chalky, but it's also a bit slippery without some texturing. I kind of want this on all like every knife that i own. That is this. You know this aluminum, which is great

 Just is right, it sucks, i agree, but it just is like we can yell at the sky. Ah, but it you know it just stays now. On top, it seems like we're paying a little bit more. On top of that, just for the texture pattern, i don't know what it cost them to do, what it cost them to do this this this texture pattern, i have no idea, seems a bit high
