Gossamer Gear G4-20 vs JanSport Big Student

I'm in good enough shape now that I'm never in horrible pain after hiking, just a little sore depending on the terrain. I've been running a Crown2 60 with a ~15lb base, but feel like it's time to downsize my pack as I've honed in my setup more and really not filling it out. I've been eyeing up a Gossamer g4-20 as it'd be roughly 10oz lighter, and seemingly easier to move more swiftly with.

especially the sturdy handle and comfortable back support, but it’s too small. Any recommendations for something that combines the 2 backpacks? I work in the tech industry and am also a graduate student, so I carry a mix of technology and books with me on a daily basis.

The padded straps were very cushiony upon purchase but with time and heavy textbooks, they did eventually rip. If you know how to sew, it can be fixed though.
