Fujifilm X-S10 vs Sony α6100

If you're out for a day at the theme park, or bouncing around museums and other tourist sites, you should absolutely bring a spare battery or two. The a6100 is supposed to get you about 400 shots per charge, or about two hours of video recording time, but those numbers are a little optimistic. You'll get there if you shoot in burst mode, but fall short if you use the camera like most people do.

On top of having a relatively portable, lightweight design, it also features in-body image stabilization, which does an excellent job of reducing camera shake when shooting handheld, whether you're recording in 4k or 1080p. It can record 4k 8-bit 4:2:0 video internally at bit rates up to 204 Mbps, and if you want even more latitude in color grading your videos, it also supports F-Log recording. You can record at up to 30 fps in 4k and up to 60 fps in 1080p, but it has a high-speed capture mode in 1080p that lets you record at up to 240 fps for slow-motion playback. Its autofocus system reliably keeps moving subjects in focus as well

Worst of all, I’m not sure if I had a bad unit, or if these vary by unit, but this camera would overheat after just 27 continuous minutes of recording video, in a cooled down room, and in about 15 continuous minutes of recording video outside in the heat. This may not be an issue for recording small clips, as it does last longer and cool down in between recordings, but it was a deal breaker for me. It’s a shame because aside from these two issues, this is the perfect camera. For travel, I sacrificed the video sharpness and battery life to go with the Canon M6 mark ii, which can record continuously outside for almost 2 hours without any overheating, and has significantly better rolling shutter performance

I have had so much fun and the only limiting factors I see right now between this and an a7 are two things: APS-C format, and low light performance. Again, this is for photography. I highly recommend Sony's 18-105 f/4 lens. Every other lense you get should be a full frame lense for when you graduate to a full frame Sony camera!

In the review, it asked me to rate the features and Touch Screen was an option. I dont like the touchscreen because its a little messy when you flip up the screen and you accidentally touched it and now its locked it focus on some obscure part. You can cancel that but its my only annoyance.

Fuji caught up to that camera in autofocus already and everything from stills to video to features is higher quality on the X-S10. The X-S10 has IBIS at $1000 for crying out loud..

The Cannon M6 Mark ii, Sony A6400, or Fujifilm XT-30 all have better viewfinders for a very small price difference. The auto-focus is amazing and if you are just a casual user who will stick with the kit lens this is a good deal. But the auto-focus on most modern cameras are very good as well and I've rarely had to complain about them. Sony has committed themselves much more to their full frame offerings than the APS-C format
