I'm 6ft tall, right around 180lbs, and the bigger 17 fits me nicely, I love that it doesn't hurt my back due to the X strap design and the added padding. I love the huge laptop compartment, which I use for things that I want to access quickly and keep securely. The size of the bag is very roomy, and the clamshell-style is always a plus for easy access and storage. The bag is sturdy and can definitely take a beating

This backpack was much bigger than expected. I was looking for a backpack that carried a lot for college, but when filled to capacity, it was HUGE on my back! It all depends on what you are looking for personally, but just be mindful of the measurements and size! Very good quality, though.

I bought a used large Mariposa but find that when it's heavily loaded it hits my ass, no matter how I adjust it. I love those packs but haven't quite figured out the fit and I can't really return the used gear.
