FYI, I heard these boots run a tad big, so I bought 9 regulars to fit my 9.5 wide feet.  Just barely snug with thick socks the first few days, but now they conform to every wrinkle of my toes.

  Thank the unmentionable deities which apparently trigger the AI censor!  Less than a week of break-in time.  Now they're my go-to uninsulated boots for work and around town.  My wife thinks they look sharp compared to my decade old and beloved hiking boots (which are so cracked in the creases I won't bother to resole them again), so she sealed the deal with a second kiss.  Bearing in mind how long they're reputed to last, how Red Wing will resole them for you to yield additional years of life... Well, it feels like it could just be the beginning of something special

Get fitted in a store before ordering online, as others have suggested; turns out I needed a full size down as opposed to half, resulting in unnecessary exchanges.  Initial impressions (few days)- gorgeous, handcrafted details, thick, durable leather, tough-as-nails outer sole and strong hardware. The break-in has been absolutely brutal; three days in, I had to give them a break after my heels blistered, burst and bruised. My feet are flatter and more gnarled than the average pair, but you can likely anticipate a similar experience if correctly sized

 They feel incredible to walk in and are surprisingly comfortable. Sometimes they catch compliments, which is neat-o.  My.

  *3 Week Update*  I'm unsure if they're finally broken in, or if I've developed thick calluses in all the right places (probably both), but they're finally wearable without bandaging my feet every morning.  Cost: Yes, these are crazy expensive, in my opinion, but I think they will be well worth the price over the long run. I've got two pairs of work boots from years ago and they were both over a $100 which, at the time, was a nutty price to pay for shoes. But those boots have lasted me literally for 20+ years. I just had one pair re-soled and they are still going strong

5's (normal size for me) I got gives me a tizzy. These are murder when you first wear them. They are supper stiff and after a few weeks of fairly frequent wear, they are still a long way from what I think of as broken in. I'll put them on with a sweat sock and and initially, they are pretty tight and unyielding

 I fully expect these to be cut from the same cloth. I'm not normally a fan boy about things like shoes but I like these so much I actually bought another pair so I can rotate them out during the week. Considering that these will probably be the last work boots I buy, ever (I'm almost 60 years old) I think the value will out weigh the cost. The only thing I didn't like were the stock laces

Overall, I don't think you can go wrong getting these as long as you aren't planning on doing any winter hiking

Great Shoe...

  Pros: comfort, style, quality materials, easy to repair and resole later on  Cons: laces will break on you, long break-in period, initial cost (if you've only bought boots from chain stores like Walmart or Meijer in the past)  Overall: Buy these boots in whatever color suits you, and once you've broken them in, you won't wear anything else.

Quality boots at a good price - you do get what you pay for, and what you pay for is a great pair of boots.

 I own british shoes, Grenson's ,that run a full size or size and a half big so based on that experience I bought a full size down and got a 9.5 to be safe. Thinking they would fit perfect without any insole help. Result

 They are such cool looking boots by the way. Subtle and classic  UPDATE: Size 10 fits perfect. Awesome.

 A little snug around the middle part but not so much in the length and toe room. But the leather was stiff and needs to be worn in. Not really that comfortable to walk in with that fit and they felt just barely too small. I tried some insoles to soften the feel of the newness thinking maybe it wasn't a size thing

I pulled the trigger and am very happy with my purchase

Before wearing them I treated them with two coats of Obenauf's LP and swapped out the round laces for flat waxed laces which I like the look of.   Let me explain. These boots are classic, made-in-the-USA boots. The company has a long history and I believe they made boots for American soldiers in WWI and WWII. They are hand made, hand inspected, with leather tanned by the very company that produces them

 But since you will likely own them for 15-20 years they are not as expensive in the long run. And you'll get a pair of high quality boots versus 4 pairs of boots that fall apart in that time frame.  Iron Rangers are part of the heritage collection, so they are more of a nostalgia boot than a modern work boot (Red Wing also sells great industrial/construction boots). I wear these for some projects, but they are more of a casual boot

Corners are NOT cut when it comes to quality of craftsmanship, so you are getting a solid boot, with solid construction. Leather is real, stitches are strong, materials are top of the line

  You can certainly buy a nice pair of boots for much less and if you only wear boots a couple times a year, I wouldn't recommend these. But if you are in the market for a wonderful pair of boots that are comfortable, durable, and of the highest quality, look no further.
