 I used to have a fender strap this is a Mexican Strat. I had one of those before, but there was a little bit of a version of the guitar with some really good pickups that I had before and I had jumper first. this one already had me medium job overrides which is kind of a little bit of a problem for me as I've just realized because I realize when you bend these the high threads that are the high E string you're really struggling with. You're really putting your fingers into the wood a lot

 but the other thing is that you lose the string at some point. So if you do something like this [Music] at some point you'll just you just lose the string. So I guess this type of guitar is not made for bending on the high E string, which sounds weird, but that's just a fact that you lose the string. [Music] It's much easier to on the B and G string

 I'm actually test the tuner now because it goes out of tune all the time [Music] This g string is a problem, the low, the low strings also go out and actually also the high e and the b string especially if you use the whammy. So but got no complaints on the sound. and uh the feel of the neck is just is excellent too. [Music] so this is the neck pickup [Music] So anyway this is a real good cheap guitar that I'm gonna be using um on my recordings and videos [Music] and that's you know that's just a single call

 So I guess this type of guitar is not made for bending on the high E string, which sounds weird, but that's just a fact that you lose the string. [Music] It's much easier to on the B and G string. no strings I don't have any problems with [Music] And this what I've been playing with in on the in this video until now is I guess this single coil down here um, which sounds really great and the humbugger is really good too. It has a tendency to to lose tuning because I put on some heavier strings and I guess one of the reasons that it's cheap is because they don't really do this from the factory is not really a very well done job

 But for all intents and purposes, they are modeled after real 59 PAF pickups. Now, Gibson was the first to do this. Do the semi-hollow design like the 335, but since then, plenty of other builders and manufacturers have gotten into the game producing their own semi-hollow body designs. This is my Novo Miris and on paper, it's pretty similar to a 335

 That was the very first time I ever performed in public with this guitar. This is my 2010 Memphis Made Gibson ES335. This guitar has been through thick and thin with me. This is the one alongside my pink sparkle novo that if the house was on fire and everyone was safe, this is the one that I would run in and grab

 I've played hundreds upon hundreds of gigs and sessions with this guitar. It's been all over North America and Canada and Mexico with me on tour and through all that time, through all those gigs and practices and performances, both good and terrible, I've learned that this is probably the most versatile guitar ever. In fact, in my opinion, I think the ES335 is the best electric guitar design ever. To me, the semi-hollow double humbucker three-way toggle switch design is the one guitar to rule them all

Block inlays just like BB King All the specs are what I like in a Es-335 and we'll go through and play it all. So big!  so I decided the block inlays and especially because BB Kings Lucille had block inlays now I Love the classic Legends BB King Jimmy Page Eric Clapton Played a 335 and creamed The pickups in. Here are the Memphis historic specs which are as closely based on the classic PAF's as they've gotten so far, thus getting those tones from Clapton BB King Jimmy Page the classic Gibson players. So I did put a lot of thought into it I've got a little bit of back to the future. We got a little bit of BB King and then with the Memphis historic Specht pickups, we got that classic Jimmy Page sound that you would get right from something like Led Zeppelin or Eric Clapton and cream

 the Back to the Future you know is one of the movies that made them want to play guitar so I thought it'd be fun to kind of connect to that vibe a little bit. Now the C shaped neck is just really good because I don't have you know, John Mayer hands or Hendrix hands or whatever and I've always gotten comfort out of that C shaped neck. I've always just preferred a Es-335 to a Les Paul it's a little bit lighter I Like being having the choice of getting a little jazzier and bluesier but still having that kind of oomph and power of a Les Paul Another thing I decided on that I wanted were the block inlays. Planning to get some axes that I'd use for recording. I already have a great amp, recording setup, and everything else needed for an electric. Hypothetically, if I want as much versatility across multiple genres as possible with two guitars, or one guitar, which ones would I get for $500? 

Sky's the limit, I'm not really picky, though I'd prefer to do as little major upgrading like pickup changes as possible (setting up is fine, as are minor upgrades like sanding fret edges)

I'm also making this because I want to see some interesting discussions in the comments. Thanks!

[DISCUSSION] For $500, what are two guitars (or one) you'd get for the most versatility possible?

 Yeah, a little. uh. Victory Dp-40 Uh, obviously. I think the neon yellow cable probably was the yeah, that's the made the difference

 But well, today we are looking at well, probably the guitar that I think you know all the really good session players and guitar players of all time I think would generally say that the 335 is the ultimate most versatile guitar. They would like to do that, whether that's true or not. Of course is a matter of personal opinion. But when you talk to people like you know, uh, Larry Carlton and Robin Ford and Marty Mcfly Martin

 Uh, so everything now is made in Nashville, apart from acoustic guitars which is still made up in Bozeman, Montana because the climate's better for making acoustic guitars apparently. Yeah, Um, so the uh, the easy way to understand that when you're looking at a 335 or any of the Es series from Gibson. If it's got a year in the model number, then it's custom shop and it's built super high end, historically correct level. And if it hasn't got a year in the name, like an Es355 standard or something that'll be made alongside things like the Les Paul standard in the like, the normal Nashville Uh facility
