Best Photo Printers of 2022 - GearLab

For what this printer costs and the cost of ownership. The quality for anything other than hugh pictures is wasted. Also the time it takes to print a small picture is at least 5 times slower at receiving the data just to start the print. (HP 3750 printed 5 pages, as good a quality, to the P7900)

 Ideally, Epson would give its users more ink choice by offering higher-yield alternatives to the 25ml ink cartridges. But even there, it's hard to be anything but impressed looking at the P700 versus the older P400. The latter lists for a couple of hundred dollars less, but it uses only eight inks that come in 14ml cartridges. And it has virtually no control panel to speak of, let alone a graphical display

Nearly every mainstream inkjet printer and all-in-one I've tested managed at least 3 to 4 pages per minute (ppm) with our graphics- and photo-laden business documents, while the SureColor never came close to 1ppm. Civilian inkjets churn out our 4-by-6-inch test snapshots in around 30 seconds each or less; the same borderless images took about 90 seconds on the P700.

 Using smaller sizes will cost considerably less, of course, in both paper and ink. If papers come with accurate ICC profiles, you shouldn't have any problems, though I should add that when I use Epson papers with these SureColor machines, I always get excellent results.

The printer's interfaces are USB 3.0, 100BaseT Ethernet, 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, AirPrint, and Google Cloud Print. There is no SD card or USB thumb drive support, though Epson offers what it calls a Professional iPhone/iPad Application that touts PC-level color management and many other finishing features available in the full Windows and macOS versions of Epson Print Layout

the one they sent was defective & they replaced it -- ok, that's good. BUt in the process of proving that the first one was defective (it wouldn't charge the ink), I went through all the little starter ink cartridges AND most of a full set of my own new ink cartridges, and also a full "maintenance" cartridge that collected all the wasted ink from those new cartridges. They refused to reimburse me for this expense related to their defective unit. Mostly I've had great experience with Epson over the years, but this time it was not good

poorly handled warranty return - cost me over $100

I received a broken unit, during setup it fed all the pigment through and into the collection cartridge, emptying $500 in pigment in a few minutes. After this I contacted Epson support and was told this printer was not covered under their warranty in the US and that I had to return it to the seller. I am so lucky to have found that out before the return window closed as this would be an absolute nightmare to deal with. Epson support was not helpful at all and I have no idea if they followed up with the seller

The Epson Surecolor SC-P700 can handle paper up to 1.5 mm thickness. This is your best bet, but it is a little bit more expensive.

Best budget artwork printer for canvas, deckle edge, handmade, rough, and textured paper? (under 400$)

However, I’ve heard conflicting reviews about the P900, some of which suggested it was a cheaply made downgrade from the P800. The P5000 has a heftier price tag, but as this is a long term investment, I wouldn’t mind paying more if it’s a better option in the long run. But I also haven’t heard the best things about it at times — people have claimed it prints excessively slow, gets clogged easily, etc.

I'm a novice to high-quality printing, having sent off all my wall-hangers to professional labs. But those are pricey and time-consuming. I chose the P900 over Canon's PRO-1000 for the lone reason the Epson is a 2020 release and Canon's is getting up there in age. Not saying I wouldn't have been just as happy with the Canon; I've never used it, so I can't compare

I'd caution new owners to follow the instructions to the letter, including shaking the ink cartridges a bit before insertion

 I printed a photo I took in Santorini (so lots of hard lines and vibrant colors) and it looks exactly as it did on my monitor. Lines are crisp, shading is smooth, and the colors pop.  I wanted a desktop printer with photo lab quality and I'm not disappointed.  If this helps anyone, I struggled with deciding on furniture to put it on

 Unlike the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 printer, I bought and returned, the Epson ink dries very fast. Dry to the touch in approximately 10 minutes and very water-resistant within 24 hours. Great ink!  I've printed about 30 test prints using Epson, Red River, and Canson Infinity papers. The best Canson papers are Baryta Photographique, Platine Fibre Rag, and Photo HighGloss Premium RC - each was very pleasing for different reasons
