 I should probably step back because I'm getting ahead of myself. There's a few things that I want to talk about as far as specs. How bright is this projector? Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS300 Projector First Look

 Hey, everybody. It's Dave with Projector People. I am here today to show off a very special

 projector. This is the Epson Epic Vision LS300. Let's check it out.

 Okay, so in front of me, we have a unit that Epson has so graciously loaned us for this

 demo. This is the Epson Epic Vision Ultra LS300 Smart Streaming Laser Projector. That's

 a lot to say, but there's a lot going on in this projector, so let's get right to it.

 This is an ultra short throw laser projector. What that means is there's no installation

 into your ceiling needed. There's no mounts you need to buy for this projector. There's

 no lamps you need to buy for this projector ever. It's designed to sit on a table or like

 a hutch next to your wall, and it sits reverse. So the way that you're seeing it from your

 side is facing towards the viewer, and the side towards me would face towards the wall,

 and the projection will spit up from here. It's up from here, about 6 to 12 inches offset

 from here, and then depending on how far back you are, the closer you are, the smaller the

 offset, the farther back you are, the higher. But really, it's designed to fit in a space

 within 2 to 3 feet away from the wall at most, and it can produce an image of up to 120 inches.

 It could probably produce an image greater than that, but you do start to lose some of

 the crisp and clarity around the edges of the projector. So 120 inches is really about

 the most you want to go. Most people would probably have this around 100 inches, and

 it looks amazing. And if you consider the price point, which this is under $2,000 for

 this unit, compared to a 80, 85 inch display, which you have to drill into a wall, make

 sure everything is nice and secure. It's a bit of a hassle. You have to run cables behind

 it if you have all that. You plug this into the wall. If you want to run a string and

 stick or something to run your Netflix and Amazon, you can easily do that from the back.

 If you want to run cables, you can do all that from the back. None of it is going to

 be visible to the end user. If you want to run audio out of it, you can do that, but

 you don't need to. It's got a Yamaha 2.1 integrated sound bar in the front, which sounds amazing,

 surprisingly. Way better than any TV audio that you'll get. I should probably step back

 because I'm getting ahead of myself. There's a few things that I want to talk about as

 far as specs. How bright is this projector? Well, it's 3,600 lumens. 3,600 lumens is pretty

 bright, so this is not something that we would recommend for a dedicated home theater room,

 though you definitely could do that. That's where I took these shots. It's a bit bright.

 You can dial down the brightness. That's one of the advantages of laser projection. You

 can also do it with light projection, but laser is a little easier. You can really dial

 that down, and all you're doing is extending the life of that laser unit even longer. This

 is built to withstand five to seven years of heavy usage, just like daily usage. This

 is really a home entertainment all in one box. It's wireless. I mentioned you can plug

 in streaming sticks. You don't have to. It comes with an Android operating system built

 into it, which includes tons of apps. You can download tons of apps, YouTube, all those

 things. However, it doesn't have Netflix and Amazon Prime integrated, at least out of the

 gate when we first reviewed this, so that may come later on. But again, most people

 will fire stick a Chromecast or Roku, and then they'll get those apps another way. I

 don't see that as a big sticking point. The other big sticking point for some people will

 be that while this accepts 4K inputs, it only produces 1080p output. That's standard HD

 output, 1920 by 1080, which looks amazing. I doubt that most people will notice this,

 especially when you're enjoying a program. It's not like the gap between standard definition

 and HD, but what you get is an incredible cinema experience. It's fantastic for watching

 sports. It's fantastic for watching movies. Can you play games with this? There's so much

 to like about this projector. It's a 3LCD. It's Epson's LCD display mechanism. It's

 3,600 lumens of color brightness, 3,600 lumens of white brightness, so you get a perfectly

 calibrated image, perfectly adjusted. You don't have weird saturated reds or weird looking

 blues. It just looks great right out of the box. If you do want to calibrate it a little

 bit, you have those options available just like you would expect. The sound quality in

 this is wonderful. I think I just talked about that. For a 2.1 integrated sound bar, you

 may never want to turn on your stereo. However, if you have a built-in home theater system,

 all you do is you run your optical out into that and your optical races. It's wireless,

 so there's no cables you have to worry about. The apps are built in other than the two streaming
