 The pickups in the neck position so it's lovely and fat and warm sounding. With this mahogany body, mahogany neck in a lovely D shape, rosy fingerboard with 20 frets, lovely big chrome tuners and a very big high mass bridge which is bolted directly onto the body via these three screws. Epiphone EB-0 SG Electric Bass Review - Cheap Price, Amazing Sound

 The felt or string winding should always be behind the saddle. The sound barley provides a distinguishable sounding note unless you amp or use effects that treble up the sound.. and even then it sounds lousy

 If buying a new Epiphone please trust me one this.. Change the strings!!! I could not find and exact match but the closest I found in gauge were all the same except for the A string being .085 in a set of Ernie Ball Hybrid slinky roundwounds - which worked perfectly

Epiphone EB-0 Bass Guitar Review

  If you're expecting the deep rumble of something like a Fender Jazz bass, don't hold your breath because the EB0 is a short scale - it has decent bass, yes, but not that earth moving deep thump. For smaller hands, the EB0 ranks right up there in playability as the Hofner Beatle Bass or one of the short scale Gretsh Bass guitars.  I was a bit disappointed that the guitar required so much user attention/interaction right out of the case, but what came out of it was decent enough. I think the $200

It still played alright, and it wasn’t one of those instruments that’s so bad as to actually make your playing worse, but there was just nothing about it that I especially liked, and plenty that I disliked. The sound was fine but it just wasn’t any fun to play.

What’s the most meh bass you’ve ever owned/played?

 I've heard Grenadillo fretboard, depends on when it was made, I really don't know. You've got kind of this older style bridge. They make a separate model now called an SG1, and I can tell you there must be a big difference because it's advertised as a lightweight, and this thing weighs nine and a half pounds. This is not a lightweight bass

 But yeah, I think this is a decent bass. These are around 300 bucks a piece new. I think 289 is a going price. Like I said, these EB1s are on the heavy side, whereas the SG1s are advertised as a lightweight bass

 The knobs here are different. So today we're just going to look at this guy. You know, we've got what, 20 frets. You've got the big old Jack Bruce pickup

 So Heath, the SR basses are notoriously fantastic throughout the whole range, aren't they? Very, very popular models. A lot of bass for not too bad a price, really. Yeah, and they do everything, like they're very ergonomic when they're on the body as well, hence the big top of the horn that'll sit perfectly on you. Some specs on this guy

Ibanez 2019 SR500E Bass Guitar

Or at least no longer a great deal. 4-5 years ago back when they were US$275 new they were steals, but now that they're $430 plus tax and shipping, they're no longer this amazing moneyball solution, they're at best a decent bass at a fair price. In my opinion if you've got $500 to spend on a bass I'd get a used Mexican Fender or Ibanez SR500, that's where the real value is at that price point.

So, I play guitar, for like 9 years now.

Aaand I wanna get into bass as well, buuut I'm on a pretty tight budget.

So I've been looking at two basses at &lt;500€, which are a Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jazz Bass, and a Sire Marcus Miller V5 Alder

So the Sire is around 80€ more expensive, which, in my situation, is a good chunk of cash - which I could in theory spend though

My question is: is the Sire a significant upgrade from the squier? I know it's got a roasted maple neck and all, but is that a big factor, if I'm going to distort my sound either way (I mainly play metal)?

[Question] What bass to go for as a beginner?

On the plus side, it's comfortable, nice to play, good quality for the price. The preamp offers many possibilities once you've figured out the controls, and it also has a passive mode. The pickups work well in both mode, and they have 4 wires so if you know how to solder you can add switches to get more sound options.

Ibanez vs Sire

the main reason to get a SR500 is I believe those are the cheapest Ibanez that have those sweet bartolini pickups. I have a 500 and it's great, I think if you get a used one in good condition and give it a proper setup it will make you very happy

Ibanez SR305 vs SR505: worth the extra$?

Ibanez is pretty lightweight. The SR series by Ibanez is a good way to go. I used to own an SR500 and it was a great bass. It’s a bass I certainly miss and if you can find a pre-owned one in good shape they tend to be priced pretty reasonably
