I currently have a Yamaha RXV1900, SVS SB-2000, and 5 mirage nano sat speakers.

40% movies, 40% music, 20% games.  

I’d love to have better speakers everywhere, but size/placement options are very difficult in my living room.  Right now the nanosats are inverted from exposed beams.

The primary issue is that dialogue gets lost easily in movies. I’ve adjusted EQ, used the various DSP settings, boosted the channel as high as possible without it dominating, but overall it’s all just a poor fix.  Can anyone recommend a center channel that would match well?  I can put the center speaker on a shelf, so this speaker doesn’t have to be small like the others.

Alternatively, if there is another small/cube style speakers out there that can be mounted similarly and are relatively the same size that would blow these away, please bring on the recommendations.

Room size is 22’ x 24’.  Listening distance is about 16’ away.  

Center channel budget $500 max.  For fronts and surrounds I’m fairly open on price since I don’t believe there are too many options?

Recommendations for a center channel? Or better speakers all around?

It’s clear from the absorption and diffusion panels that your husband put research into making the room sound good. A few more tweaks will take it to the next level. 

The center and subwoofers really make a huge difference in both the intelligibility of dialog (the center) and the ability to both feel and hear the LFE track (the subwoofer). When I switched to a Rythmik sub, I was sad only that I hadn’t done it years earlier. 

Husband’s first home theater!

 Sealed box allows for easy placement near wall and is quite small compared to many speakers that produce this quality of sound. Can play music and quality levels as well if used as a single speaker. Needs a decent receiver or amplifier to drive it. I've paired it with a NAD D 3020 v2 as a single speaker for a TV in a bedroom and it does a great job for night time listening as well as the occasional music session

Great center channel or all-around speaker

I had the Emotiva and I didn't like it. I sent it back. I got a JBL 550p on sale for $180 that I think sounds much better.

Was about to jump on the **Emotiva Airmotive S8 Sub** for $299, but then found out it cannot hit lows? 33 Hz - 200 Hz is the spec. And then i heard about the **Bowers &amp; Wilkins ASW608** which apparently is a really good sub (though a bit weak which is ok as this is for a 1 bd apartment), for $200 more, which hits 25 Hz. I really dont want to buy a sub where it just humms for half the songs. Thoughts on ASW608 or anything that can hit real low?

Also, FYI, planned on pairing with Emotiva B1 + speakers (i know, basic but id rather push more $$ to sub and have read these are phenomenal)

Subwoofer For techno/deep bass (ASW608 vs S8)

 Shave some inches off the height for the next model so it fits a bit better for a true center speaker.

 The sound is very even and clean and matches perfectly with the TZero towers on the left and right. No real bass to speak of but that is expected and desired with the 1+ model. I have a giant ported bass for the heavy lifting. You can tell the cabinet is top quality material simply by the weight of the item

 Other centers costing twice as much felt like paper compared to this. Only draw back and by no means an issue is the size is, well, bigger than I'd like. Shave some inches off the height for the next model so it fits a bit better for a true center speaker.

Is my preamp going bad?  Am I hurting it?  Should I get a new power strip?  Should I get an electrician to put the basement (and my homelab) on a different circuit?

Middle Atlantic PD-915R #2 has an Xbox Series X, a Sony smart TV, HomePod Mini, 2x Apple TV 4K, and an Emotiva ERC-3 plugged in to it.  I generally leave this one on all the time, because the smart home gets upset when it can’t reach devices, and sometimes you need a few reboots to get them to respond to power on/off commands again.

Desktop PC speakers, resting on the table, near field. Currently have the Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II sitting there, but I'm getting tired of the sound/control.
I bought it as the aux in port in front of the speakers were convenient for me to plug my music kits in.  

- What gear do you own?

Currently own a Magni/Modi 2 Schitt stack, Sundaras 2020. Seldom use IEMs, but if I do it's the moondrop blessing 2. I also plug in my e-drum kit for practice. | PC Mobo is ASRock Z390 if that matters*

- What do you intend on using for a source/ Gear for?

For my PC speakers; Gaming takes up about 30%, music/movies/general media 60%, and the other 10% for me slamming on my drum kit (arguably not music LOL - this currently does not feed through my Schitt stack)
My Music playlist consists most of Jpop/punk/rock/lo-fi youtube.

Do I have a blown speaker or connection issue?

So I purchased some JBL L19s with a sx-850. They sound really good when played at a modest level. Enough to enjoy a movie and have a decent jam session. And they’re in great cosmetic shape. I just have an issue with the one speaker. 

When I listen to some of my more bass heavy music, I get a loud pop from only one speaker. The tweeters on both boxes sound crisp and the woofer on the one hits just fine. It’s jus the issue with the one woofer. 

I’ve done a lot of reading and found people with similar questions but can’t really get a clear answer. They say most crackling and pops will come from connection issues, so I’m hoping that’s what it ends up being. And not a blown speaker. 

Any info or advice is much appreciated!

Im am currently shopping for a new speaker/headphone. The Schiit ragnarok 2 is a pretty appealing solution as it is both in a single box, but before I bought it is there any other amp that are both a good speaker and headphone amp? If I were to buy the ragnarok I would also get the yggdrasil down the line (i am curently using a jds labs el dac 2), and I was wondering if there was a big sound diffrence between the current yggdrasil and the older one they are selling as a "garage sale" version.

I recently picked up a pair of Polk Audio SRS 3.1TL for free. These are a massive upgrade from the Sony speakers I was using before. I'm Just getting into the "Audiophile world" and need some help/suggestions on how I can get the best out of these speakers. I currently only have a Pioneer SX-225R receiver; is this a decent start? What would be a good budget upgrade path? Is it worth getting the interconnect cable for the SDA effect? What is bi-wiring and bi-amping and should I do it?

I'm planning to spend:

•150€ for the dac,headamp and preamp (fiio k5 pro)

•between 250€ and 350€ for the headphones, either the HiFiMan Sundara (r/audiophile standard budget build) or what i can find on the used market near me

•between 300€ and 200€ for pair of active speakers (not for monitoring purposes, just for enjoyable listening), do you have any recommendations? I don't need volume control, just an rca input for the k5 pro preamp outs; the kali audio lp-6 (300€ a pair) looked nice but as far as I'm understanding they're more for studio work than for listening

at the moment my desktop stereo system is a Technics SC-HD55, it doesn't sound too bad but the amplifier is just nasty, with a very high and audible noise floor and artifacts

I don&#39;t need volume control, just an rca input for the k5 pro preamp outs; the kali audio lp-6 (300€ a pair) looked nice but as far as I&#39;m understanding they&#39;re more for studio work than for listening</p>

<p>at the moment my desktop stereo system is a Technics SC-HD55, it doesn&#39;t sound too bad but the amplifier is just nasty, with a very high and audible noise floor and artifacts</p>

Hi all!

I’m moving into a dorm room this fall, and was hoping for some good recommendations on low power but good bookshelf speakers. I don’t want a speaker that I have to turn up all the way in order to get their full range, so I don’t disturb neighbors. 

Currently my setup consists of a vintage Marantz 2215B and a Teac TN-300 turntable. I’ve always liked a warm sound, and I’ve always been more interested in the miss and higher range rather than the lower, given the music I listen to.

Looking around a good choice for me seems like the Wharfedale Denton 80s, although I don’t necessarily want to spent as much if I don’t have to. 

I also wonder about setting up my speakers and room. The room I have isn’t square, so I’m not sure if I should do the triangular setup, or go for something else, or if I should put foam on the walls and such

Hi! I'm looking for new PC speakers. I posted a few days ago but after some feedback I decided to repost with more info.  
  
I've had Bose Companion 5 speakers for over 10 years now, and I'm finally looking to change my speakers.

One of the main reasons I want to change is because with my new ultrawide monitor, the speakers are behind the monitor and there's no where else to put them.

So I'm wondering if there are any good short options that could go under my monitor. I have 5-6 inches underneath but because of the shape of my current ones, the entire speaker is behind the monitor.

Also I don't know how it works, but would I be able to get a good subwoofer for any set of speakers?

**tl;dr:** I'm looking for good, short (5-6 inch tall) speakers, and a subwoofer. Budget is about $200-300

Hello! I’m a college student looking to get into stereo with some summer money but have no idea where to begin and wanted some examples of setups that would run about $1500. This setup would be in my carpeted bedroom about 15’x15’ and I’d like it to have 2 speakers and a sub plus a receiver/amp/whatever else I need. I’ve been doing some YouTube research but thought I’d ask for input here. I really appreciate any responses and if more info is helpful I’d be glad to elaborate

ALSO: am I at risk of blow these stock speakers? some very few select files I've noticed have extreme bass at even mid level volume. vast majority handle bass pretty well I think. my car is a 2016 model if that helps.

I have a HP desktop that I would like to add outdoor speakers to. However, my issue is the house is a prefab from the 70's and the drywall is aluminum backed and Bluetooth doesn't seem to work outside. I have headphones with Bluetooth and when I step outside the house they do not work. Is my only option to hardwire? Thanks.

I'm after probably 2 Bluetooth speakers that work in stereo at around £150 each that ideally also connect to wifi and can be used outside. I'm aware that I might be asking a bit much in this price range and am also struggling to find many that have WiFi. What would you recommend?
