 #6 - The R1850DB pair are pretty good as TV speakers to our Sony Bravia. Better than the cheap soundbar we bought 5 years ago and rarely use. But worth $199? I don't think so. Maybe it's my age

 I suppose okay for gamers. But not for stereo sound especially in large room with high ceilings. They sound better the closer you stand to them. Stinks

I thought my 45 yr old Hitachi speakers that were about 2 ft tall and foot wide and weighed 25 lbs each were well past their usefulness, almost wish I never threw them out just days ago. Not what I expected - Not as decribed - Ok for gamers - Alexa studio is far better sound

The best powered speakers under $200 are the Neumi BS5P. (They are better than the R1700BT someone else mentioned.)

If you need a subwoofer output for the option of adding a sub later, then look at the Edifier R1850DB.

I finally got an air conditioner installed, but its noise drowns out both sets of my computer speakers (which were fairly quiet to begin with). Would anyone have any suggestions for speakers for under $200 that would be up to par and loud enough that I could hear over a roaring AC unit lol? I haven't went speaker shopping in years so I have no idea what to look for or brands or anything.

I have Q-Acoustics 3020i's that are warm and make everything sound warm, they scale well but can be a bit too warm at low volume. They make everything fun to listen to, but I feel they need to be played at considerable volume in order to balance out the the sound.

I'm glad Kanto is making passive stuff now. You know how I feel about active speakers, so I rarely was recommending them. For $159 though, I bet these are great for the price.

I recently got the passives and also Neumi BS5. Ended up returning the Neumi. Driven by Yamaha R-S202BL. 

These speakers give me the joy of discovering the songs anew. Neumi were good too but not great

Kanto YU Passive 5.25 - The TL/DR Review

 I can’t afford expensive speakers; this pressed my budget as it is, but I can’t imagine being any happier than with these. Lovely design, modern lines and simplicity. Love.

These little speakers are powerful and make my small receiver sound like a much more expensive stereo system. I don't even have a subwoofer, and they still deliver big sound as well as clarity to highs, lows, as well as midrange tones. I can’t afford expensive speakers; this pressed my budget as it is, but I can’t imagine being any happier than with these. Lovely design, modern lines and simplicity
