The Dell g5 is a well-priced gaming laptop from their new G series. So let's take a look at what you get and help you decide if it's a laptop, you should consider buying. Let'S start by checking out the specs of this unit, as there are a few options available with this model as an Intel, i7 8750 h, cpu, which has six cores and can turbo up to four point: one gigahertz and single core workloads. In my unit, the sixteen gig of ddr4 memory running at 2600, 66 megahertz and dual channel, but the two slots can support up to 32 gig for storage

 Although i tried applying a 200 megahertz increase, we can see here that it only rose about 136 megahertz on average, due to the power limit being reached with both cpu under bolting and GPU overclocking applied.  Dell usually has/\s/ great Ubuntu support, at least in their XPS and/\s/business lineup, so not sure if this will change. Let’s discuss pricing and availability next./\s/This will of course change over time and/\s/ Dell does often run sales, so check/\s/updates down in the description below. At The time of recording, the Dell G15 with Ryzen/\s/7 processor, RTX 3060 graphics and 16 gigs of/\s/ memory is $1480 USD, but this one has the higher/\s/tier 165Hz screen, which is better than what I’ve/\s/ tested here

 Time, though, both have FreeSync for smooth tearfree gameplay, the only downside with the 144Hz panel was PWM.. The battery life was fair, considering the size and while the lower specced G5 lasted longer, as presumably lower tier hardware uses less power it’s possible to upgrade the battery when buying, which is a nice option to have.

 On my lap., The 720p camera is found above the display in the center no Windows. I’ve also tested SPECviewperf, which tests out various professional 3D workloads. I’ve used the OpenVR benchmark to test the HTC Vive Cosmos Elite and, as A GPU heavy test, the 5600M was scoring quite good in this one and like we saw in the games, the cheaper G5 was outperforming the more expensive model due to the way smartshift works

. The more expensive 144Hz panel was better in almost all aspects. It’S brighter, though still below the 300 nits. I like to see it’s got better colour, gamut and, of course, higher refresh rate

 Overall, I think the G5 SE is offering some good gaming performance at the entry level price point. As you’re getting the 5600M graphics and dual channel memory, regardless of price you don’t have to spend more to get a good gaming experience and, as we saw in fact, The lower specced and cheaper config could actually outperform the higher specced and more expensive config in games at higher setting levels.. In order to do this, however, the G5 does run quite hot it’s, the hottest laptop I’ve tested in recent memory

It is very powerful, sporting Intel's newest Coffee Lake CPU's and a decent GTX 1060 6GB gfx card which is not too far performance wise behind it's full pc tower cousin.

- It is very heavy. For those expecting a lightweight notebook experience, this is not it.

It is the cheapest range of laptops I could find with the new range of chips. These are roughly the same price as laptops running Kaby Lake chips. I could not find better value for money.

Exactly what I was looking for: an ultrabook level laptop which can handle anything you throw at it! Thin, light, and sleek, but under the hood, packs a Ryzen 7 5800H and an RTX 3060 with 100W TGP, and advanced optimus (aka, the mux switch).

Overall, a great buy if you want a light laptop with excellent performance, capable of playing AAA games at maxed out graphics!

4) Corsair software drains battery: was surprised to see the laptop drawing >15W of power in idling, when the CPU Package only was drawing 2-5W. Tried disabling the Corsair services, and now getting fantastic battery life: 4-8W power when idling and mild web browsing, with occasional hikes to 12W during Youtube playback. Easily lasts more than 5 hours, and PassMark BatteryMon actually estimates 12-15 hours of total time!!

The Lenovo legion slim 7 is a great product. It has a nice/responding keyboard and an efficient layout. The fingerprint reader is also a nice touch. One minor issue I have with this laptop is it's battery life

The port selection is also limited, however, I appreciate the fact Lenovo shipped this computer with an additional USB C adapter

Got it too, as a result of getting sick of waiting for the Legion 7 with 3070 to be available in my country. The more i use it, the more I'm feeling is a really good value for the money. Got it on discount for around 1500 euro, which is a very good deal considering the laptop prices in my country now. Even more so: The European version comes with faster RAM contrary to the the slower ones, which are used in the US versions of the Advantage Edition and the Lenovo 5 Pro

Ended up getting the rog strix g15 advantage edition. Couldn’t pass up on this value.
