Budget around 1000e. I went to a hi-fi shop and listened to some speakers. I really enjoyed the sound of Dali Oberon 1 and 3 speakers.

My audio interface has a lot of noise in the line and sometimes clips. I've read that it's an incompatibility issue with the drivers and USB 3 (the interface uses 2.0 but my PC only has 3.0 ports), however this electrical noise problem persists even when plugging into a different computer. 

Below is everything I have tried/learned regarding this problem.

Zeroing all of the volume knobs possible on the interface doesn't eliminate the noise.  
Turning the PC to 0 system volume doesn't eliminate the noise.  
Using a different, gold usb cable did help eliminate the static slightly.  
Standing up instead of sitting at my desk does seem to help the problem.  
Radio interference might be a contributing factor...?  
Activating the 48V phantom power switch produces a high frequency squeal and then dies down.  
I have eliminated ground loops in the audio setup, and there are ferrite beads on my cables.  
I am using balanced 1/4 inch connectors for both my headphones and speakers, and each of those devices do not have noise when plugged into other sources.  
When adding a 1/4 cable to one of the combo XLR/Instrument inputs, the electrical noise seems to die down slightly.  
Windows power settings are set to not reduce USB bus power.  
I purchased a powered USB hub and the problems with the interface actually \*increased\* to start dropping connection repeatedly.  
Only certain USB ports on my motherboard are compatible with the interface, despite switching between multiple of the same type of port. Curiously, the few USB 2.0 ports on the motherboard are not compatible.  
I have the most current driver software and firmware (even force updated it) from the manufacturer's website.  


Please advise as to what I should do because I'm about ready to return the thing to the store after a month of use. Presonus AudioBox USB96.

I am looking to set up my first Hi-fi system. I am a total noob so I hope that you can help me with my questions.

I want to use bookshelves speakers. Usage will be for music (all genre) and movies. Signal will be digital. Budget around 1000e.

I went to a hi-fi shop and listened to some speakers. I really enjoyed the sound of Dali Oberon 1 and 3 speakers.

That being said, I don't know what amp to use with them:
- I tried the speakers on an Atoll IN80 and a Cambridge Audio One. The Atoll was good but out of budget, especially with the digital input board. 
- I read only good thing about the Audiolab 6000A or Cambridge Audio Cxa61. Is it "overkill" for the setup I want? 
- adding a bass speaker would be a plus, especially with oberon 1
- I am tottaly ok buying used amp
- other suggestions? 

More general question:
- should I use speakers stand? Or having them on a TV shelf enough? 
- is there really a difference between cables quality?

Just found these old JBL stereo speakers which only have ports for bare speaker wire. Need some help figuring out how i can set them up and connect to a Mac/PC, can anyone lend a hand?

I have a bit of a problem with my PB16-Ultra. The bass output is quite low while I have it set to -10dB on the app. The issue is that I’ve seen some people running -20 and -15 and saying it sounds insane. This meanwhile does not sound much better than my old PB12-NSD. It’s not that I’m sitting in a null because it sounds similar or the same in the whole room. 

I can put it to 0dB and it will sound much better but it does not seem normal to have to put it this high to sound as it should. I’m currently running dual RCA Balanced inputs from my HK3490 Stereo Receiver which is at -5dB. It might be that my subwoofer output signal is very low from the amp?

My current set up consists of a JVC-A200 turntable connected through a Telefunken A400 to two Sony SS-D201 speakers. Today I realized I could connect my phone to the Telefunken via RCA to AUX to play Spotify on the speakers. While switching back and forth from the TT to AUX, I noticed that when playing the same track off my phone vs the vinyl that the phone sounded much crisper and cleaner albeit less "warm". Switching to vinyl had the sound become "warmer", but a bit more muddled and less precise (unable to pick out specific sounds and instruments).  


Clearly the only difference between the sound is where it's coming from, and right now it seems playing it right off my phone sounds "better".  


My question is: to get the most value of the records I own, would I be best off upgrading my turn table to then bring the sound of my records up to or even surpass Spotify playing at "Very High" quality? Or is that sort of futile and regardless streaming from my phone will always provide better results? If I were to upgrade the TT, would I replace the TT entirely, or get a new needle/cartridge?

Recently I bought a Audio-Technica  LP60XBT turntable that I have connected to a Bose Mini Soundlink  portable bluetooth speaker that I have had for a couple years. Recently I  was looking into possibly upgrading to a new set of speakers. I tried  to do some research and kept seeing the Edifier speakers pop up.

So  one of my main questions is, are the Edifier R1280DBs or Edifier  R1700BTs a decent upgrade or will they be around the same sound quality  as the Bose Mini Soundlink that I already have? If it's not really that  much of a difference in sound or quality, I would probably just keep the  current setup I have been using. I was possibly trying to get away from  the portable options and use something that plugs in and don't have to  worry about charging.

Is it worth  it to go for the Edifiers?  I don't know if its better to get something like a pair of bookshelf speakers or one main home bluetooth speaker?

Or if anybody else has any other  recommendations on any other speakers, it would be greatly appreciated.  With black Friday/cyber Monday around the corner, I was hoping to  possibly get some deals.

Needs to have bluetooth and primarily only using the  speakers for the turntable but possibly other sources. Hi everyone! 

I'm looking into moving on from my Jabra Solemate that has been my ride or die speaker for the past 6 years. Since I'm going to college this upcoming year, I was looking into getting myself a new speaker that I can use at home, when I'm out working in the yard, at the beach, and anywhere I go. At the moment, I'm really liking the JBL Flip 5. It has the carry cord with it, USB-C, great audio, and it's waterproof! My right speaker is humming when plugged in to my jbl lsr310s. Both speakers are plugged in to a power strip and the right channel only buzzes when the sub is on. I swapped the inputs and the right is silent and the left hums. I tried plugging the sub into different outlets but nothing happened still the right channel output on the sub hums. Any help would be great

So question is for a 2.1 desk set up in a fairly small room, mainly for watching movies, youtube, and music, and the space is not very big so I don't need it extremely loud. 

The options are 

Klipsch promedia 2.1 THX $100

I already have the klipsch r41m and micca speakers and I'm waiting to click the buy button on parts express for the other parts. I'm just wondering if the sound quality of one of these set ups is going to be noticeably better than the promedias because I'm paying a significant price over the promedias and I don't have a very large budget this shopping season.

For last fathers day, me and some other family had pitched together to get my dad a mac tube amplifier he's always wanted, the MA252 to be specific. Since then, he's gotten a Sonos port which he uses with his phone, and uses a pair of sub-par Yamaha speakers we had sitting around. Personally, I think it's probably throttling his whole setup, and for Christmas, was thinking of getting him the KEF LS50, but was wondering what the difference was between the popular LS50, and the new LS50 META? And would these pair well with an MA252 amp?

This amp has a positive and negative speaker level output. My active sub (Martin Logan Dynamo 300) has speaker level inputs: a left positive and negative and a right positive and negative. Can I just use one of the inputs on the sub or do I need a splitter?

So I got new edifier speakers for my laptop, and since the onboard soundcard is crap I decided to use the apple usbc-3.5mm adapter because I've been told it's an easy solution to this problem. It works, but I'm not sure if there is a setup problem. Windows recognizes the connection as a headphone instead of speakers (I think it's because the usb-c to 3.5mm adapter makes it recognize it as a headphone). Does windows output sound to the speakers differently if it thinks its a headphone? I tried the bluetooth connection of the speaker and bluetooth definitely sounds fuller (the bluetooth is louder when I switch between outputs), but I'm not sure if I'm imagining things.

I've had my logitech z5500 speakers for roughly 9 years now, and still don't know how to set them up properly. My problem is the cable that comes with the speakers that has separate connectors at the end of it in 3 different colors, I know what the colors mean and where the lines should go, but the back of my PC only has a line in port, a line out port, and a microphone port.....what do? My cord/cable has a red, yellow and green connector.

P.S. I'm colorblind/visually impaired, so I'm sure I must be fucking it up somehow, here is a pic of my PC panel (I'm also pretty sure the panel labelling is wrong because the colors don't match the guides I'm looking at online to see which color goes where).

r/audiophile Shopping and Setup Help Desk (2020-11-22)

 I found the B&W 607s to be a better match for me, but they required work on placement, replacing the factory jumpers (they have separate terminals for the woofer and tweeter and I found the factory jumper between those terminals degraded the sound of the driver not directly connected to the speaker wire), and room equalizing to get a balanced sound. Some may find the 607s as intense and prefer the comfort and ease of the Oberon 1s that sound very fine and balanced, though warmer and rounder, right out of the box.

 My goal was to get a similar type sound for much less money and taking much less space.  By comparison, the Oberon 1s are warmer with a rolled-off treble that is not as open and airy as I prefer, so I returned them. The Dali Oberon 1s have a very fine, very comfortable sound that one can listen to for a long time.  I purchased them on the basis of reviews for a home office powered by an Anthem MRX 310 receiver I had on hand and teamed with a SVS SB1000 subwoofer. My reference for sound is my main system with a pair of vintage Yamaha NS-1000 speakers powered by a Yamaha MX-1 amplifier and paired with dual SVS SB2000 subwoofers. This system produces a very open, airy, and transparent sound that I like

I absolutely love our Dali Oberon 5 speakers. My wife and I listened to several speaker/amp combinations and preferred the warm sound of the Quad Vena II. For the money, a fabulous combination.

Updated my spektor 2 for some Oberon 5. I've tried many other brands and I still go back to Dali for overall appreciation of the sound. I wish I could get rid of the couch and the table for the speakers to communicate better but there is a limit to what my wife is willing to accept. I've been playing with placement a lot and I'm still gonna play with it to get it as good as possible.
