 We have a total of 4 6mm heatpipes intertwined between 57 copper fins in an S shape from one opposite end to another, making contact in the middle with a pretty smooth nickel plate copper CPU base and taking the heat off of it and dissipating it further. That said, it can handle up to 150 watts of TDP. The 92mm fan comes in this white and grey colour scheme and has a 4 pin PWM header and can spin up to 2500 RPM. It's easily removable from the top of the heatsink, it has these two clips on each side, so if you want to you can remove it so you can clear the air for the process of installation just like I did

 The bottom bracket itself already has all the necessary holes to cover these sockets, so you don't have to do anything around it, just align it properly, put it on and screw everything down. The heatsink itself wasn't showing more than 35 to 36 degrees Celsius on my thermometer gun and was basically just warm to the touch. That's a pretty decent performance from a so to speak small footprint CPU air cooler like this one. But there is a catch, I have noticed that the motherboard's default fan curve ramped up the fan speed pretty high to begin with, making it pretty noticeable sound wise and also bumping the performance a bit

And obviously there will be thermal throttling, that poor Cryorig c7/ Noctua L9a stands no chance of cooling 140 watts unless there is some extreme airflow. That said, the performance is stellar under the circumstances, with no throttling for lower-core workloads (like games) and shorter all-core workloads (like code compile), and is still also very good for extended all-core workloads (higher than putting a 5900x or 5800x under the same cooler for instance). Other than that my entire case was probably around 60 celcius after extended use which was probably okay but a little concerning, though if there were some way to get additional airflow exhausting all the hot air through the case you might have a better time.

I'm using the  SFF time P-ATX  10 L case which has a  CPU clearance of up to 59 mm in height.

[SFF time P-ATX] What is the best low-profile cooler that can cool the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X?

 As far as I can see, we are getting the same 2500rpm fan that we got on the original C7, so it's fair to say that the noise testing will be interesting. The entire heatsink has been converted to copper here also, that includes the cold plate, the four heatpipes, and the entire fin stack. I personally expected the premium over the aluminium C7 to be a bit more, but it's only about an additional $20, so it's great to see that solely based on price, this is a competitive option. Now, I could have just tested the copper C7 against the aluminium C7 and called it a day and left the comparisons there, but I'm personally really interested to see how it stacks up against some of Noctua's low-profile options, like the NH-L9 and the L9x65, and also the L12s

 Overall, the cryo recoolers are not quiet at all, and running them at full blast is going to be extremely noticeable and not recommended. The Noctua coolers on the other hand are significantly quieter, and while not exactly inaudible, they at least don't sound like a jet engine like the C7 does. So if you are concerned about acoustics in your system, I can highly recommend picking up the NF-A9x14 PWM fan as that will improve noise levels significantly without a significant hit on CPU thermals. Mounting this fan on top of the copper C7 heatsink on the cryo recooler seems like a really effective but also relatively quiet CPU cooling solution

 So let's first take a look at the results with the i5-8400, and honestly, there isn't much of a difference here between the majority of coolers in the stack. For example, even the warmest result here by the smallest CPU cooler, the NH-L9, still manages to cool the i5-8400 to 66.6°C after 15 minutes of rendering out a scene in Blender. The difference between the copper C7 and the regular C7 is also very minimal here, both at 2000rpm and 2500rpm

 The NH-L12 gives us the best cooling performance in the stack, as most of you probably expected since it is the largest, but cooling the i5 CPU to below 55°C is arguably a bit overkill. Stepping up to the stock 8700K now, and keep in mind this CPU has been deleted which dropped the temperature under load by about 13°C. I am also running the 8700K on auto in terms of clock speeds which results in an all core turbo of 4.3GHz, and I've manually locked the voltage to 1

Stock Cooler Killer?! (Cryorig C7 Review!)

 Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I coincidentally learned while researching AMD CPUs that those washers are supposed to be used IN PLACE of the backplate on some LGA-socket motherboards, and now I can't find them anywhere. Way to include comprehensive instructions, Cryorig!  I could have dealt with the thermal issues on their own, but now that I know the CPU backplate is under undue stress, I have ordered a different low-profile cooler to replace this one. Hopefully the backplate doesn't snap while I'm waiting for the new cooler to arrive.

I bought this cooler for my old Core i7-4790k as I moved it into a small form factor case (Fractal Design Node 202) for living room gaming. I knew it wouldn't be as effective as the AIO water cooler I had before, but size is a bigger concern than performance in the SFF world. Still, I found myself disappointed.

EXCELLENT for MY RYZEN 2700x Processor - COOL AND QUIET

8 GHz. How does the CPU cooler do? Obviously not that good compared to all those other tower style coolers. In fact it performed very similarly to Cooler Master's UFO style cooler the G100M. The C7CU was doing a slightly better job at cooling though, but was louder at doing so

 They absorb any vibrations that may occur. As for socket compatibility, only the mainstream Intel sockets are supported, which makes total sense and same goes for AMD. Now the installation quite honestly in theory it's all super simple and straightforward, but I had my difficulties getting that backplate on. I wish those screws went through the holes a little easier, since I had to apply quite a bit of force

 At a price of 50 dollars compared to standard tower coolers this may seem a little pricey, but for being an ITX CPU cooler that seems somewhat reasonable. But a 40 dollar price tag sure would make this cooler a bit more appealing. Still without any doubt I can definitely recommend this Cryorc C7CU, only for small form factor PCs that is. I'm giving it my copper award, no I mean silver

The Noctua NH-C14S was noise-normalised to 35dB(A) = 80% fan speed at 50cm distance from noise source (fan). There are no power limits on either CPU (both CPU are free to draw as much wattage as needed). CPU coolers have been cross-verified with other coolers to rule out mounting issues.

 You've only got about 40 millimeters, so good looking in the case. Really, really easy to install both of these Noctua coolers, the 15S and the 14S. Now getting a look at the performance of the NH-C14S, 4770K stock settings. Obviously not going to make any of these coolers winch

 Now, for the longest time, the NH-14 has been the go-to as far as top-down coolers. It has always been the top-of-the-line performance, enthusiast top-down cooler. So if you're building something with smaller form factor or whatnot, it was always the go-to piece. Now, it did have one little issue, though, in that on micro ATX motherboards, it interfered with the first PCI express slot

 That also gives you 70 millimeters of RAM clearance, if that is a concern, under the cooler when it's mounted. NFA-14 fan, 1500 RPM, 14 inch or 140 millimeter fan, I should say, 1500 RPM, 24.6 TBA. So you get, you know, the good Noctua fan, nice, silent, smooth sounding, delivers a lot, a lot of airflow

 Now, when you take a look at the NH-14S, it is exactly the same piece as the NH-14 with one little difference. And you can see it right here in the front, offset design for PCI express clearance. Now, it doesn't always apply just to ITX boards. You do have a lot of PCI express slots that are getting kind of close to the CPU sockets these days

Noctua NH C14S High Compatibility CPU Cooler Overview, Installation and Benchmarks

 From here on both platforms remove the fan of the cooler, splash some thermal paste onto your CPU and then slap the enormous heatsink on top of that and screw it down through the holes in the heatsink. Now at this point we can install the fan and doing this will have a huge impact on hardware compatibility. By default Noctua usually portrays the cooler as having the fan mounted on top of it. And this is the so called high clearance mode

 Now with all of these modes out of the way let's go to the actually important part of this review. Benchmarks. Upon summoning the devil on the 3900X the C14S managed to cool it down to 57°C above ambient. That's solid 6°C better than the smaller L12S

 For an Intel CPU we need to take the provided Intel backplate and shove the Intel screws through the holes and fix them on the other side using the plastic washers. And make sure to click the screws into the outer hole for LGA1700 and the inner ones for everything else. From here position the backplate behind the motherboard, take the spacers, blue for LGA1700 and black for everything else and position them onto the outsticking piece of screw. From here we need to position the mounting brackets in an outward pointing position with the screw end pointing upwards and then just make sure that both sides are symmetrically positioned and then screw everything down using the nuts

 This is meant for people that really want to use this monster of a cooler but can't afford the height. This will just mean that the overhang will be on the VRM heatsink side and this will either just not work or you have really good VRM heatsinks on there and oh yeah and the pipes will also probably hit your RAM so just no you can't install it in all four directions. Now with all of these modes out of the way let's go to the actually important part of this review. Benchmarks

Noctua NH-C14s Review - Noctua's C-Shaped Monster

  Sound: I'm still running with the chassis sitting on the top of my desk (facing backwards), and sounds from the heat sink are non-existent. A slow ceiling fan in the office is the loudest item there.

 The core v21 height is tall enough to handle this heat sink easily, even with two 140mm case fans connected to the top of the case.  Thermal performance: I haven't run intensive cpu tasks or overclocking yet, but a 2-hour gaming session never sent the cpu temps above 45C. While the heat sink is responsible for that, the thermaltake core v21 is amazing with airflow, and my GPU running full force never went above 58C. Definitely room for some overclocking if I ever feel CPU limited

 2) The video card's back is VERY close to interfering with the heat sink. It makes it, but there are only a couple millimeters (maybe 1/8th inch) separation between the two. The core v21 height is tall enough to handle this heat sink easily, even with two 140mm case fans connected to the top of the case.  Thermal performance: I haven't run intensive cpu tasks or overclocking yet, but a 2-hour gaming session never sent the cpu temps above 45C

Excellent cooling, tricky to install

  I had started noticing the fan on the stock cooler, which I had set to run at normal speed per the motherboard (around 2000 rpm). It has that characteristic small fan whine. That was keeping the CPU at around 60c when running intensive games. I tried setting the fan to quiet (1000rpm) which helped, and did notice the CPU temps ramping up into the high 60c range, so I reset the fan back to 2k

Good experience cooling a z370 coffee lake cpu.

 Not sure what the most efficient cooling position is and Noctua instructions did no say but they did note the upper position is the more quiet position besides including two extra fan wire holders if you want to run two fans in both mounting positions (and noted to use the throttle cable on the upper fan in that configuration). The setup is large but horizontal and would clear everything in my case even if using two fans. Upper PCIe slot is available with the setup. Memory sticks nearer the heat pipes can be removed without much trouble
