Fit

Coros Pace 2 or get another Garmin

COROS is very much a training tool-type watch, while Garmin is much more fitness/smartwatch focused, if that makes sense.

I do like it though. I am glad I bought it. It talks to my cell phone which talk to my ear buds which is cool. i like having texts displayed

Any regrets transitioning from. Garmin to coros?

When you compare a Garmin Model to a comparable Coros model, I would bet money the Coros will always have better battery life and better features every time.

Forerunner 935 is better

5 of those were with music) over about 4 days and was down to 14% battery. When new, my 935 would have gotten probably about double that. I don’t know if I got a defective model or something but my commute to and from work via bicycle is about 50 mins each way. Without music, it would drain 8-10% battery

Durability

This behemoth of a GPS watch has a few things to iron out

I still have 85 percent battery. Enabling dual-frequency satellite communication or anything beyond standard GPS mode drained the battery faster — but this is still phenomenal stamina. I have zero doubt that this is a watch where you can leave the charger at home, even if you’re on a multiday trip jam-packed with GPS activity.

It happened to me and I ended up regretting my purchase big time. Anyone claiming that the FR series is of equal durable to the Fenix series is performing some serious mental gymnastics. Get your hands on both and you'll understand what I mean.

Activity Tracking

Deciding between Garmin 6x pro, 945, baro peak 9, or Vertix 2

Based on my experience with Suunto 9 Baro and Fenix 6x, Fenix is going to be a much better hiking watch and overall fitness tracking watch, but a worse running watch if you care at all about accuracy.

I haven’t used a sports watch before, and as well as using it for triathlon-specific training, I’d like to use it for the other sports which I usually partake in (football, tennis, weight training etc), and general day-to-day activities. Looking online, it appears the Garmin Forerunner 945 is my best bet.

Thinking about taking the plunge, need some advice/experience moving from Garmin ecosystem

I think in my recommendation I would go with the Vertix if I were you because of the price drop on it. For the money I think that is currently the best value device that COROS offers. I sold my Vertix to buy a Fenix. And regretted it after a few weeks

ALMOST as good as it gets... almost...

excellent watch with crummy buttons. If I hadn’t caught it on sale, I think I would’ve regretted the purchase, as I would’ve just gone straight for the 955 (which is current right now). However, if you find this watch for a nice price (like I did), it’s worth it… crummy buttons and all

Comfortability

Size of Vertix v/s Ambit3?

I’ve had the ambit 3 peak and now on a Vertix. One main difference is of course the lack of the gps bump. This adds to comfort.

Like it more than the Fenix 5s Plus

I had the Fenix 5s Plus, returned it and got this. It's much lighter, thinner, and the band is noticeably for comfortable (softer and more stretchy). The Fenix series are just bulky heavy and for some reason the bands are uncomfortable. That means the 945 is more comfortable to sleep with, run with, and wear throughout the day

Connectivity

So we basically got only one new watch...

So, I was literally ready to write a check if they hadn't broken what was already great... now I'm not even considering the Coros brand at all for my next watch, unless they release an Apex 2 that still has ANT+, indicating this Vertix 2 is a "one-off" of dropped ANT+ support

For a $500 watch, I expected better.

to me. I decided to keep the Marq after experiencing both watches for over a month. First, the most annoying thing for me was the Forerunner often lagged a half second after each press of the buttons. It felt like it wasn’t responding so I would often press the buttons multiple times and then it caught up and jumped menus on me
