 It is a little bit fiddly working out which bit is which but certainly once you've got the bits done and you're kind of a little bit used to it, absolutely brilliant. Obviously if you want to increase the cooling a little bit more you can add that extra fan if you want to with the included equipment. Which would then actually probably put it a little bit closer to the D15 which again is still phenomenal considering the price difference and even the size difference. So overall I would say if I was to give this a star rating it's got to be a 4

 When we get to those higher temperatures and pushing those 12 cores and 24 threads in Cinebench obviously it is going to push this thing to the absolute limits. But there was no throttling as such, the actual clock speeds were slightly lower, didn't throttle as such but just didn't boost as high as it would have done with the D15. So there's a 50 to 100 MHz difference across the cores so there is that to it. If you're looking for the utmost performance you can get out of your processor then obviously spending more money on something like the D15 is going to make a little bit of sense

Purchased this CPU Cooler due to my CPU running hot as of late. It is a 6-year old computer with an AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black CPU running at up to 3100 MHz and I don’t overclock. I moved the stock Cooler Master 12cm case fan to the front, & added a Thermaltake A1280 to the rear exhaust position.  Everyone's favorite air cooler is getting some really useful design upgrades. So I'm going to go through the three main design changes to Cooler Master's ultra-popular Hyper 212 EVO. This is version 2, and the first change that's going to be useful for a lot of builders out there is that they've moved to an asymmetrical layout. So now you get more room for those tall sticks of RAM that always seem to just kind of butt up awkwardly against your cooler

 When I start using the computer for 3D programs or video intense games, the temps get up to 98°F (37°C). Some of that I'm sure is from the big video card, pushing up heat from below.  This isn't a quiet fan. None of them (that I bought) are

  I have read that the stock fan/cooler cools the chip to around (80°C) 176°F which isn't a bad temp for a chip. I believe that "normal" operating temps of things is around 180°F. But still.

Of course, the speed can be adjusted, but it doesn't quiet it down much at all, & too low will have the temps rise quickly, needing more flow & speed. So I knock off one star for that, because it's 2020, & quiet fans are as common as quiet mice & keyboards

 Then I check the screws before putting the mobo in to the case.  I haven't ever had to re-apply thermal paste to a Cooler Master cooler in all of the years I have been using them exclusively. Quality thermal paste & attention are what is important to these high quality parts.

 We have a total of 4 6mm heatpipes intertwined between 57 copper fins in an S shape from one opposite end to another, making contact in the middle with a pretty smooth nickel plate copper CPU base and taking the heat off of it and dissipating it further. That said, it can handle up to 150 watts of TDP. The 92mm fan comes in this white and grey colour scheme and has a 4 pin PWM header and can spin up to 2500 RPM. It's easily removable from the top of the heatsink, it has these two clips on each side, so if you want to you can remove it so you can clear the air for the process of installation just like I did

 The bottom bracket itself already has all the necessary holes to cover these sockets, so you don't have to do anything around it, just align it properly, put it on and screw everything down. The heatsink itself wasn't showing more than 35 to 36 degrees Celsius on my thermometer gun and was basically just warm to the touch. That's a pretty decent performance from a so to speak small footprint CPU air cooler like this one. But there is a catch, I have noticed that the motherboard's default fan curve ramped up the fan speed pretty high to begin with, making it pretty noticeable sound wise and also bumping the performance a bit

And obviously there will be thermal throttling, that poor Cryorig c7/ Noctua L9a stands no chance of cooling 140 watts unless there is some extreme airflow. That said, the performance is stellar under the circumstances, with no throttling for lower-core workloads (like games) and shorter all-core workloads (like code compile), and is still also very good for extended all-core workloads (higher than putting a 5900x or 5800x under the same cooler for instance). Other than that my entire case was probably around 60 celcius after extended use which was probably okay but a little concerning, though if there were some way to get additional airflow exhausting all the hot air through the case you might have a better time.

I'm using the  SFF time P-ATX  10 L case which has a  CPU clearance of up to 59 mm in height.

[SFF time P-ATX] What is the best low-profile cooler that can cool the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X?

 As far as I can see, we are getting the same 2500rpm fan that we got on the original C7, so it's fair to say that the noise testing will be interesting. The entire heatsink has been converted to copper here also, that includes the cold plate, the four heatpipes, and the entire fin stack. I personally expected the premium over the aluminium C7 to be a bit more, but it's only about an additional $20, so it's great to see that solely based on price, this is a competitive option. Now, I could have just tested the copper C7 against the aluminium C7 and called it a day and left the comparisons there, but I'm personally really interested to see how it stacks up against some of Noctua's low-profile options, like the NH-L9 and the L9x65, and also the L12s

 Overall, the cryo recoolers are not quiet at all, and running them at full blast is going to be extremely noticeable and not recommended. The Noctua coolers on the other hand are significantly quieter, and while not exactly inaudible, they at least don't sound like a jet engine like the C7 does. So if you are concerned about acoustics in your system, I can highly recommend picking up the NF-A9x14 PWM fan as that will improve noise levels significantly without a significant hit on CPU thermals. Mounting this fan on top of the copper C7 heatsink on the cryo recooler seems like a really effective but also relatively quiet CPU cooling solution

 So let's first take a look at the results with the i5-8400, and honestly, there isn't much of a difference here between the majority of coolers in the stack. For example, even the warmest result here by the smallest CPU cooler, the NH-L9, still manages to cool the i5-8400 to 66.6°C after 15 minutes of rendering out a scene in Blender. The difference between the copper C7 and the regular C7 is also very minimal here, both at 2000rpm and 2500rpm

 The NH-L12 gives us the best cooling performance in the stack, as most of you probably expected since it is the largest, but cooling the i5 CPU to below 55°C is arguably a bit overkill. Stepping up to the stock 8700K now, and keep in mind this CPU has been deleted which dropped the temperature under load by about 13°C. I am also running the 8700K on auto in terms of clock speeds which results in an all core turbo of 4.3GHz, and I've manually locked the voltage to 1

Stock Cooler Killer?! (Cryorig C7 Review!)

 Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I coincidentally learned while researching AMD CPUs that those washers are supposed to be used IN PLACE of the backplate on some LGA-socket motherboards, and now I can't find them anywhere. Way to include comprehensive instructions, Cryorig!  I could have dealt with the thermal issues on their own, but now that I know the CPU backplate is under undue stress, I have ordered a different low-profile cooler to replace this one. Hopefully the backplate doesn't snap while I'm waiting for the new cooler to arrive.

I bought this cooler for my old Core i7-4790k as I moved it into a small form factor case (Fractal Design Node 202) for living room gaming. I knew it wouldn't be as effective as the AIO water cooler I had before, but size is a bigger concern than performance in the SFF world. Still, I found myself disappointed.

  You need to get this with AM4 upgrade kit to work with Ryzen.  My computer runs more quiet than ever before in the middle of summer. Of course the case I recommend matters, which allows full size 120mm blowing on it, and it's a PWM fan so it allows you to control fan speed to be quiet also.  GET THIS COOLER, especially if you have a higher TDP processor, perhaps even if you have a lower one because there is a difference
