 Cracks and wear marks show almost immediately and are highly visible. I am fine with this look because these are casual boots for me (jeans/chinos). The style of these boots is not geared for dress attire. The lighter "gum" sole and distressed leather do not lend themselves to a dress-look

 If you have a wide(r) foot, do not go with these boots. For all others, I think they're a good choice for casual style and comfort.

Clarks always do run large so I recommend getting something a half size to a size smaller than what you normally wear. My main qualm about the pair I received is the color. The color on Amazon was much lighter than the color I received, however that is a minor issue, that could just be my monitors color reproduction. Also, not one of the more comfortable pairs of Clarks I have ever owned, but nothing some cheap inserts couldn't fix
