 When I told him the cost on this mattress, he nearly choked. What he finally said was that it is a good mattress and he really likes the comfort, but it doesn't feel like it will hold up as long as a regular mattress would - a regular mattress that didn't come with that price tag. I've since bought a new mattress for my own bed, one that I like quite well and didn't break the bank. So, I suppose it all comes down to the individual

 Now, son #1 wanted to try it out, so we drug this thing through the house to his bedroom, which was no easy feat given how squishy it is. Eventually, we got it there and as it turns out, he loves it. So, in terms of comfort, it just depends on the sleeper. We have all seen the commercials. This is supposed to be the best mattress ever. The problem is, if you hype something like Casper has with this mattress, it better live up to the advertising. So far, that has not really been the case

  The misunderstood - So there is supposed to be a softer "well" for shoulder areas, hip areas, etc. I'm 5'3" on a good day. My husband is 6'2". How do you have wells that fit both of us? Which way is the top of the mattress and which is the bottom? Do I have it backwards? Is that why my shoulder is screaming at me this morning?  I feel like I may have some culpability in this not working for me, so I am going to bookmark this to give an update

My expectations were high

 A lot of mattress brands have a bed that specifically targets side sleepers because most people are side sleepers and they generally prefer a mattress that's a bit softer that helps cradle their pressure points like their hips and their shoulders. That's exactly what Casper seems to be doing with the Nova mattress. Keep in mind that firmness is somewhat subjective I'm a heavier guy around 200 pounds, so I probably will feel this mattress to be quite a bit softer than someone who weighs 120 pounds would. but just remember that Nova Hybrid is a much softer mattress

 Let's take a look at this mattress from the bottom up. So first off, you have a very thin layer of dense support foam and then you have the hybrid part of Nova Hybrid, which is a layer of pocketed coils. We talked about pocketed coils a lot on this channel. We'll try and link some extra information about them in the description, but essentially you're getting the bounds in support of traditional inner Springs but with less motion transferring through the mattress because the coils behave somewhat independently

 Above those coils, you have a layer of memory foam and you have a layer of zone support foam. and on top you have a layer of Casper's proprietary open cell foam, so there are a few extra bells and whistles that make the construction of Casper Nova even more interesting. So that memory foam layer above the coils has a little divots cut out and the layer right above that is actually split into different sections. This gives Nova Hybrid a zone support design

 Don't cut too deep, you don't want to damage that mattress. So once you get to the final layer, it's going to pop open pretty quickly. So just clear away that plastic, clear with all the packing materials and then give the mattress about 24 to 48 hours to fully expand and off-gas So when they give you some additional information about the Casper Nova hybrid mattress, first off, it comes with free shipping and returns. comes an optional in-home setup, a hundred nights sleep trial, a ten year warranty

 It's always a good idea to ask a friend for help moving the box inside and then into your bedroom. So below the zone support pro, you're going to have a layer of pocketed coils behind this foam encasement. It's gonna be very, very supportive

8lbs (which I believe is the top comfort layer). Although 1.8lbs is not bad quality, given that this foam is at the very top I would not expect it to have all that long of a life. Maybe 2-3 years? Maybe more

I visited IKEA today and found the $500 Heston mattress (queen size). Curious if anyone has any experience with it, how it holds up, or any advice whatsoever. Thanks in advance!

my mother has severe spinal stenosis (several discs have broken down, she's had rods and screws installed with little benefit, as well as a torn glute repair. take care of your spines, kids.) she's 56, ~155, and sleeps on her back, prefers med-firm or firm. her gentleman companion says he's comfortable on whatever. while they were moving in together I bought them a zinus, warning them that it would break down fairly quickly and need to be replaced, and that it would be a pain when it did. the time has come.

she's up every night in serious pain, and sometimes doesn't bother trying to sleep at all. her job is very difficult and both emotionally and physically demanding, especially during covid. I don't feel like I can waste her time with a bunch of returns or DIYing something, though the zippered mattresses with layers seem doable.

she's willing to spend up to $3500 and is interested in latex or a latex hybrid for its lifespan. I'd like to avoid memory foam and memory foam hybrids because if the next mattress sags within five years I'm going to turn into the Joker.

currently looking at the Alexander nest hybrid or an Ikea hesstun mattress+good latex topper, since we live fairly close to an Ikea and a return would plausibly be easier than dealing with a mattress company.
