I am a designer looking for a quality printer that I can use to print 11” x 17” proofs. I have done some research on ink vs. laser and I’m not totally sold that ink is worth the long term cost for printing proofs.

Designer seeking best printer for Proofs

Single paper or a few, photo high end or plain it jams everything and occasionally misfeeds and then you get crap printing errors on your expensive paper with their expensive ink. I had the pro-100 for years and did great but this too many misses. Oh and yes I did all the alignments when I installed. OR it gets worse as Amazon puts me in contact with Canon and after 30 minutes Canon agrees to change it as it's defective

We have a Canon Pixma G6020 we bought before getting a Cricut. It has massive ink tanks and the cost per page is great. Price is about $280 but it comes with enough ink to print thousands of pages which offsets the cost.

Over the years we found the ink cartridges to be very expensive if you're doing any significant printing in color which is why we went with this printer.

My wife wants a color printer for print and cut. I’d rather spend more on a nicer printer than worry about ink prices being so expensive. Any suggestions? The new printers have eco ink but I’m not sure if that is best. Looking to spend under $250.

..which after running into problems printing my OWN artwork out, I decided to invest in a large format printer. The Inks seem to be only available (at this time) from Canon directly & I have found 2 other online places that offer them as well

 It is slightly noisy when doing so but nothing like a heavy metal concert level noise.  I would have preferred a larger screen AND to have it a touch screen, but that is a nit picky personal preference. (I did much research before investing in this so I already knew about the screen & was ok with it vs my printing needs that took a higher priority)  Printer quality is EXCELLENT. I am a Graphic Artist/Illustrator that does a wide range of art from oil portraits & landscapes to comic book illustrations

Best budget artwork printer for canvas, deckle edge, handmade, rough, and textured paper? (under 400$)

However, I’ve heard conflicting reviews about the P900, some of which suggested it was a cheaply made downgrade from the P800. The P5000 has a heftier price tag, but as this is a long term investment, I wouldn’t mind paying more if it’s a better option in the long run. But I also haven’t heard the best things about it at times — people have claimed it prints excessively slow, gets clogged easily, etc.

I'm a novice to high-quality printing, having sent off all my wall-hangers to professional labs. But those are pricey and time-consuming. I chose the P900 over Canon's PRO-1000 for the lone reason the Epson is a 2020 release and Canon's is getting up there in age. Not saying I wouldn't have been just as happy with the Canon; I've never used it, so I can't compare

I'd caution new owners to follow the instructions to the letter, including shaking the ink cartridges a bit before insertion

 I printed a photo I took in Santorini (so lots of hard lines and vibrant colors) and it looks exactly as it did on my monitor. Lines are crisp, shading is smooth, and the colors pop.  I wanted a desktop printer with photo lab quality and I'm not disappointed.  If this helps anyone, I struggled with deciding on furniture to put it on

 Unlike the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 printer, I bought and returned, the Epson ink dries very fast. Dry to the touch in approximately 10 minutes and very water-resistant within 24 hours. Great ink!  I've printed about 30 test prints using Epson, Red River, and Canson Infinity papers. The best Canson papers are Baryta Photographique, Platine Fibre Rag, and Photo HighGloss Premium RC - each was very pleasing for different reasons

Great printer!  Incredible colors and quite fast.
