Canon EOS M50 vs Sony α7C

-Shoot 4K videos What I don't like about it? -4K does not support Dual Pixel CMOS AF and cropped so much -No clog format for video editing. -Poor battery life -Sony might be a good/expensive brand to go as you progress. My recommendation will be getting an EF adapter and get the 50mm F1.4 =equal to 80mm on this cropped camera

I just received this camera yesterday and ran a few heat-related tests. Here is a review based on my short time with it. I was excited for the Sony A7C, not because of its (slightly) smaller size but because it is essentially the same as the fantastic A7III, just without the annoying 30-minute record limit. Since almost everything I do with video is a "long form" event, I ran a few stress tests, and here are my first results

But, one defect ruined most of my photos: a few (~3) smeared spots appear in most photos (see attached example). I tried to clean the lens to make sure it's clean but to no avail. I feared it's a problem with the sensor. Hope this message will catch SONY's attention and help resolve this issue, ASAP

The M50 comes with an EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6

It has in-body image stabilization, effectively reducing camera shake when shooting handheld. Like other Sony cameras, its autofocus system is incredibly effective, quickly and accurately detecting subjects and keeping them in focus, even when they're moving.

I bought a zoom lens for distance shots. The auto focus is really good and there isn't a steep learning curve using this. Very happy with my purchase. I'm a total beginner photographer so I can't compare this to other mirrorless cameras on the market but would highly recommend this camera

$40 on eBay) and having programmed a custom button for manual focus zoom and using focus peaking you can get excellent pictures that are incredibly sharp wide open with this camera. My general recommendation is for people to not be afraid to use manual focus lenses. Once you get used to them you can be just as fast as the autofocus on a Sony branded lens that is 5-20 times the price

I've been a professional photographer for natural light portraits and outdoor landscapes for 8 years. I've been hearing the buzz about mirrorless cameras and witnessed professional photographers swapping their dSLR's for mirrorless. My primary camera is a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and I LOVE this thing. The only problem is that it's very bulky so it makes it hard to take on trips where I have to encounter strenuous hikes and climbs

Importantly, it is the same weight as a panasonic G85 which is critical for a travel/backpacking/bike camera (I need). I can put it on the crane M2 mini-gimbal for decent stabilization, and still be discrete/small enough to not feel like a sore thumb. This is the deal when you move from panny m4/3 - I swapped low light performance for effective stabilization

But you absolutely get more than enough camera for your money. Attached some photos (clearly edited) so you can see what to expect. **Edit: the star that I took off was for battery life. I think this is the biggest fault here, so definitely make sure you snag some spare batteries (yes, you'll need several) if you want to use this out in the wild for an extended amount of time!

So that's like not a long-term issue.. Now battery life on this camera is also really good.
