 So I guess TJ, if you're going for some park tricks, you'd maybe loosen off the boa strap a little bit.  I think, yeah, I'd say 100% that those added like faux ankle straps definitely help give the boot a more responsive feel, and it makes sense, you know, because all the responsiveness is because of the boot, not because of the straps or the binder or anything. 2020 Burton Step On Complete Overview

Graduating from my noobie gear after about 20 days of riding last season. Had a 156 Rome rocker/flat/rocker board with a medium flex. I spent those 20 days in size 10 boots for a size 9 foot, so I was dealing with a lot of heal lift and my toes were curling to push onto toe side. I picked up Burton Photons + Step On Genesis and they fit awesome, so that problem is solved

 You can soften it up by loosening up the upper lacing to make it feel like the ion, and then you can crank it down if you wanna have something that's gonna react really, really quick for those faster days. With that lifeliner, you're gonna get a boot that's gonna last longer. It's not gonna break down as fast. 22/23 Burton Step On Line Up

 Now the Step-On X was a newcomer for last season and it offers the stiffest flex rating in the line. Both the base plate and the high back are made with a 50-50 carbon nylon composite and this gives you a really snappy and reactive feel underfoot. Think about pairing these with something like the hometown hero snowboard where you're looking to get the most drive and performance out of the board. I'd say they're best suited for stronger intermediate and advanced riders purely because of how responsive they are

 You can see here in terms of their flex they're pretty solid. Burton rate them at around a six to nine out of ten and of course just like you'd expect to find on other bindings they come with a full EVA footbed to help soak up some of those bigger landings and impacts and absorb underfoot vibrations. You can also pull that toe ramp forward to give you the perfect footprint size for whatever boots you're wearing. The high back also comes equipped with forward lean but it's actually tucked away just in here so you're going to need to have a screwdriver handy if you do want to change the angle of this

 We're like solomon does a good job, too But k2 widens out up here where solomons are kind of tight on me So that's kind of cool and I love this adjustable plastic thing because I did have to adjust it here and there To finally get it to fit me perfectly And once I did that it was dialed. It took a few runs, but um, and these are so comfortable Day one just right out of the box. I put them on went up on the hill and By day three, they felt like they were my boots like they were made for me. It's just like You know, that's pretty cool

 But um, you know, I'd probably be weary anything E and above, you know, if you're D, this is perfect Now what I've really noticed with the Macy's and most k2 boots like the Enders I tried is the heel side the heel part of the boot is narrower and then it widens out So for me, I have a little bit of a normal heel I guess But I found that you know, some of my friends who have narrower heels and narrower Like Achilles arches and stuff like like the Achilles tendon on the back K2 boots really work well for those type of people It really wraps and so in terms of fit this works for me I could ride these all year and they were comfortable day one What I did with both boots is I put in footprint insole technology Insoles I put in my I think these have king foam Five mils and what I did is I just didn't trim them and I put them in so they curved up So they kind of worked. Okay, but man those eights felt perfect. They just Touched when I was standing like this and then when I leaned forward a little bit They just barely didn't touch and that's perfect and they felt like a nice You know match in terms of fit like With like boots like adidas and like 32 that run maybe a half size big. So you have to size down You know Because I'm definitely a true nine on the Braddock scale and athletic fit and And so the eight and a half's with k2 fit me perfectly just like the eight and a half's from adidas And that I own and love And I gotta say if you're a fan of A wrapped heel and a supportive locked in boot around there and you have a narrower heel I think k2 does a great job

 This boot right here is going to be a little bit stiffer, a little bit more aggressive a boot, perfect for the kind of guy who likes to charge the whole mountain, maybe who likes to ride fast, likes to ride a lot of powder, just anyone who likes to do some aggressive style riding or maybe just prefers a stiffer boot. It's going to feature the double BOA system, but it's going to be a little different than other companies double BOA.  What that's going to do is make the life of the boot longer, make it flex from day 20 the same as it does to day one. Just really hold the life of the boot. Lots of boots start off really stiff and then they kind of like sog out and get a little soft towards the end of the season.
