The Photon is a really good medium stiff boot, perfectly suitable for any type of riding, whether that be groomers, park, backcountry, anything. What's great about the Photon is that it's super customizable in terms of how it fits. So you have the Boa system here that controls the lower section of the boot, so to tighten the bottom, you simply pop this side dial and crank down, and that's closing the lower portion of the tongue

 And finally, this is something people don't really think about, but what keeps your feet the warmest is just good, continuous blood flow. So little details in this boot, like the very thin lacing guides, you're not having any chunky plastic where a binding strap can pinch and push and poke something into your foot that's going to cut off circulation and potentially get your feet cold. So really thoughtful details in this boot, great all-mountain, medium stiff with a lot of customization features. This is your Burton Men's Photon Boa

 The other thing in terms of the liner is the Imprint 3 has a few features that are going to keep your feet warm, so it is filled with a fence-lit material that you're probably familiar with in insulated winter soft goods, jackets and pants. Boots are super warm and fit very nicely. They definitely have a break in period and I would recommend heat molding them if you get the chance. I chose not to but wish I would have. First wear was a little snug but the do loosen up

Very warm and comfortable

 This thing is going to feel the same way on day one as it does on day 100 and it also has shrinkage footprint reduction technology. This size 10 boot has a size 9 imprint on the snow and that's perfect for anyone with bigger feet. The Photon Boa comes in a lot of different colorways. There's some different lacing options

 It has a very very tall focus style cuff with internal liner locking lace system and sleeping bag reflective foil and what that does is it causes the heat to go back towards your body and the cold actually stays out the bottom of the boot, which is real good, and then of course there's this kind of lacing system with that Boa. It has a locked down control system to keep your heel locked in the heel cup. So with that focus cuff and with the way that the dial is reeled, it actually pulls the tongue closer to the heel pocket for a better secure fit, and then there's this thing. This is the Inprint 3 liner, extremely lightweight, thermal heat moldable

 It has external support panels, internal jay panels, and of course a Velcro closure system. I like this because it's body heat activated, but you can also use a heat molder and it features this thing inside. This is a level 2 footbed. It has an ESS support shank, micro cradle, has perforated top that has a soft touch to it too

 We're like solomon does a good job, too But k2 widens out up here where solomons are kind of tight on me So that's kind of cool and I love this adjustable plastic thing because I did have to adjust it here and there To finally get it to fit me perfectly And once I did that it was dialed. It took a few runs, but um, and these are so comfortable Day one just right out of the box. I put them on went up on the hill and By day three, they felt like they were my boots like they were made for me. It's just like You know, that's pretty cool

 Yeah, you lose Upper and lower adjustability and you have a big footprint which can lead to toe and heel drag So be careful if you're one of those guys that's like 10 and a half And you're trying to fit into You know like a 25.5 waist or a board bordering on mid-wide Uh, you might be better off with a reduced footprint boot. Um You know like from vans, um to a lesser extent Um, you know, maybe even 32. They're a little smaller Um, but really like like adidas and burton

5 adidas tactical advs I found that there's like this much difference and you can see in the picture There's a massive difference and it's even larger in a nine, but um, you know, that's not a fair comparison Uh, and I just would say like that's the one thing But where you lose a little bit of footprint Um, you know advantage Uh, you gain warmth and these are warmer than my adidas tactical advs. I can just feel it Um Even though I haven't been riding in really cold days and watch this. This is just like so cool I've never seen such an easy on or off That's it and i'm out Well, i'm not going to get all the way out, but It's like so easy on and off And if that's important to you, this is one of the best in the business for that. So Here's the thing about the maces

 But um, you know, I'd probably be weary anything E and above, you know, if you're D, this is perfect Now what I've really noticed with the Macy's and most k2 boots like the Enders I tried is the heel side the heel part of the boot is narrower and then it widens out So for me, I have a little bit of a normal heel I guess But I found that you know, some of my friends who have narrower heels and narrower Like Achilles arches and stuff like like the Achilles tendon on the back K2 boots really work well for those type of people It really wraps and so in terms of fit this works for me I could ride these all year and they were comfortable day one What I did with both boots is I put in footprint insole technology Insoles I put in my I think these have king foam Five mils and what I did is I just didn't trim them and I put them in so they curved up So they kind of worked. Okay, but man those eights felt perfect. They just Touched when I was standing like this and then when I leaned forward a little bit They just barely didn't touch and that's perfect and they felt like a nice You know match in terms of fit like With like boots like adidas and like 32 that run maybe a half size big. So you have to size down You know Because I'm definitely a true nine on the Braddock scale and athletic fit and And so the eight and a half's with k2 fit me perfectly just like the eight and a half's from adidas And that I own and love And I gotta say if you're a fan of A wrapped heel and a supportive locked in boot around there and you have a narrower heel I think k2 does a great job

 This boot right here is going to be a little bit stiffer, a little bit more aggressive a boot, perfect for the kind of guy who likes to charge the whole mountain, maybe who likes to ride fast, likes to ride a lot of powder, just anyone who likes to do some aggressive style riding or maybe just prefers a stiffer boot. It's going to feature the double BOA system, but it's going to be a little different than other companies double BOA. This guy right here on the outside is still going to control the outside, all these outside wires right here. And this guy on the side is going to control the BOA conda

 What that's going to do is make the life of the boot longer, make it flex from day 20 the same as it does to day one. Just really hold the life of the boot. Lots of boots start off really stiff and then they kind of like sog out and get a little soft towards the end of the season. These are going to hold really tight and try to keep a more consistent shape
