.. I was mostly wrong on all these counts. When I bought the machine, I found the Sbux Espresso Roast whole beans (around $13 for 18 oz) and Sbux vanilla flavor (around $25 for pack of four 12 oz bottles)

 I am very happy with this and really enjoy the smell of the beans and process of making the drinks. You do need to watch the beans level (the hopper is small) and the water tank is also small - I have run out of both beans mid-grind and water mid-brew by not paying attention but otherwise this machine is pretty straight forward. I did experiment with steaming milk and wasn't a big deal but you can't really steam that much milk at a time with small carafe and steam wand (made more for 8 oz. mug drink vs

 Buying those same 62 drinks at Sbux would have cost $415 (not count tip I always leave so actually closer to $500 for 62 triple venti Ice lattes at Sbux costing nearly $7 each + tip. So I figure I when just considering supplies I used $30 in beans and syrup and at around $4 per gallon, I have used maybe another $20 in Milk so $50 total in supplies about vs. around $500 for buying the drinks at Sbux including tip means I paying 10% what I used to and have saved $450 ($150 less than I paid for the machine) in a single month on the drinks for me and my daughter. As I started off saying, it does take me 15 minutes from start to finish of cleanup to make those two drinks but it could be half that without cleanup every time but I also never wait in a drive through line

 The last straw that made me buy it on Prime Day discount a month ago was that price of my daily Starbucks drink (iced venti vanilla latte) shot up from $5 something to nearly $7. I was reluctant previously because I figured it would take a bunch of time to make myself, be a pain to clean up and I probably couldn't make it taste the same as the Sbux I enjoy..

Shot looked good, smelled good but had too much of an acidic sour taste to it still in my opinion. I’m using a breville barista express and filtered water, letting the porta filter heat up before and using a scale and timer for everything. Am I missing something else here to make the taste more enjoyable or maybe I’m just not a pure espresso drinker?

 The expectation for a great tasting espresso is quality water, give our well water source we purchase water for cooking and consumption. Would be nice if there was a better way to recover the dispensed water after use to be reused but since the tray also traps grounds, it's useless for reuse. For now I save this for watering plants.

...  CONSISTENT SUCCESS! I am now dialed in on my dedicated espresso grinder and am now able to pull the following shot consistently "the first time and every time" and the taste is really delicious

 17.5gm beans, medium roast, perfectly and consistently freshly ground espresso, perfectly tampered, 194F brew temp, 4 second pre infusion, 27 second water flow after infusion, 35gm of brewed espresso, beautiful crema on top. Stir with silver spoon, (not born with it.

  We vacillated between many brands and options but ultimately we narrowed our choice down to machines by Breville because they provided the most versatility and ease of use. We specifically chose the Breville Barista Express due to it's smaller design  I'm going to preface this review by saying an espresso machine is one of those things that you have to do the math on to decide if it's a worthy purchase for your home, between my partner and I we typically each have two lattes a day. even if you're a complete novice you'll still be making lattes and other popular drinks in no time. The most intimidating part was the milk frothing process, but it's consistent and predictable and really easy once you give it one or two tries. Once you make your own latte it's going to be hard to drink anything else

 The unit heats up quickly and provides piping hot water within 30 seconds, enough time for you to pour your milk of choice in the stainless steel milk frothing pitcher. From this point you simply turn a dial on the side of the unit to the steam function inserter your steam wand and try to stimulate the milk into a gentle whirlpool motion, this process takes less than 2 minutes depending on how hot your like to steam your milk. For the espresso machine, I have been looking at the Profitec pro 600,  Breville Dual Boiler BES920XL, Rancilio Silvia Pro Espresso Machine, LUCCA A53 Mini Espresso Machine by La Spaziale. As of right now, I'm leaning towards the Profitec pro 600, Rancilio pro, and the Lucca A53.

The Pro 600 looks to be the safer option in that regard, and also in the looks department in my book. Anyone that's owned the Elizabeth for a while can you speak to your feeling on the durability of it? The steam handle for one has me a bit concerned.

 I have found it pretty easy to make a set of drinks back to back to back.. The aesthetics (especially with Clive's wood accent upgrades) are top notch too. 

 I was very impressed with the Clive process. They put in a lot of resources to help you understand what espresso machine would be a good fit AND after you buy the machine they still dedicate resources to help you get the most out of your machine. I wouldn't consider shopping anywhere else after my experience.

 I just appreciate the ability to do it. The PID is a joy, to be able to see what's going on inside the boilers and to have the option to change something. The flow-control capability is a master-stroke in being able to further fine-tune and profile my favorite drinks. All in all, a wonderful machine

After using a Gaggia Classic for many years, I am so glad I treated myself to a real prosumer grade machine. I love the capability the dual boiler gives me, to be able to steam milk and pull a shot simultaneously, although I'm not in a rush generally. I just appreciate the ability to do it. Steaming power for milk frothing fits my needs perfectly; as an inexperienced home barista, more steaming power that would heat milk more quickly would have probably been a disadvantage. The vibration pump is obviously not silent, but I have yet to receive a complaint from sleeping family members at 6am (the dogs don’t even wake up).

I spent three months researching information before buying my first espresso machine. Two months after acquiring my Profitec Pro 600 (with a Mignon Specialita and an Acaia scale), I can comfortably say that my decision was dead-on perfect.

The Pro 600 allows me to consistently brew great espresso, and do so with different beans throughout the day. The learning curve of learning to adjust grind size after switching beans in order to produce my preferred 2:1 ratio in 25-30 seconds was easily conquered. The machine heats up both boilers quickly and consistently maintains the desired temperatures. Steaming power for milk frothing fits my needs perfectly; as an inexperienced home barista, more steaming power that would heat milk more quickly would have probably been a disadvantage

 The deciding factor was machine height: the 600 fits under my cabinets, the 700 wouldn’t have. I definitely do not feel like I settled for the 600, I just went through with the machine that fit my needs.
