That will give you good shots and also has the milk frother if you ever want it. A good chunk of change though

A coffee machine for an iced coffee drinker?

 It's pretty easy after some practice and there's plenty of video tutorials so definitely give it a try. - Big water tank, easy to remove and fill - High clearance lets me easily fit my cup and scales directly under the portafilter - Simple to use. Dials and stuff would be cool but honestly so long as it pumps out adequate pressure and maintains a consistent temperature between shots, being able to monitor those variables is nice but redundant. Use a timer and cheap scales to dial-in shots, then taste, adjust grind/dose as needed, and you're all set

Home espresso machine

 Mine works great after a year. My daughter owns one too, and her experience has been the same, although she hasn't had the misfortune of needing a smaller machine for lack of space..

  Here's what the happened with the Breville Bambino. My friend didn't have the right kind of coffee grinder for whole beans, so she bought a few ounces of beans at a Peet's Coffee and asked the barista to grind them to the consistency appropriate for making espresso. She brought it home, and we tried it with the Bambino and---nothing, almost no coffee came out, and what did tasted terrible. Even after making sure NOT to tamp down the coffee in the filter with too much pressure, the Bambino proved INCAPABLE OF 'EXPRESSING' A SINGLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO, GROUND TO ESPRESSO MAKING CONSISTENCY AT A PEET'S COFFEE coffee bean seller

What I don't like about this machine is that it simply will not make a decent cup of espresso--not by my tastes. (Note; the milk frothing tool is, however, great; But froth alone doth not a good cappuccino make.) I honestly don't know whether this is a defect in the individual machine I purchased, but I tend to doubt it: it will simply not generate enough steam pressure to make a decent shot of espresso, of the kind that a bigger, more powerful but even similarly priced machine will be capable of doing. Almost exactly a year ago I bought and ordered a Breville Infuser Espresso Machine (BES840XL/A )

 But having already returned one machine (the pathetic De Longhi Dedica) I simply was too demoralized by the experience, and, so far, my friend and I have simply tried to adapt to the inferior Bambino. Perhaps we'll change our minds, but I honestly suspect that the problem with the Bambino, as probably with the De Longhi Dedica, is that smaller machines simply DO NOT WORK due to a basic design problem: they end up being structurally incapable of generating the kind of steam pressure required. At least, this is what I suspect. Perhaps far more expensive, smaller machines don't have this problem

SMALLER ESPRESSO MAKERS (not costing many hundreds of $) ARE BASICALLY USELESS

 But if you like a great coffee in less than a minute then this device is for you. What ever you choose, make sure it has the heat sink technology this device has. You need a contestant temperature in 3sec , don’t get an older model that you have to wait 15 mins for the machine to heat up.

I got the Bambino plus instead of a grinder/espresso maker combo because I live in a condo and don’t have much room in the kitchen. It heats up in 3 sec which is amazing. Temperature is very consistent and machine produce amazing coffee. The automatic milk frother is great

You can definitely find a less expensive unit, but you'll be compromising in key performance and construction areas, something I just wasn't willing to do. So, if you're looking for an aesthetically attractive, small-footprint, well-constructed machine that is simple to use and creates exceptional Espresso and Cappuccino, you will be truly pleased with this unit

This review is somewhat extensive, and understand that I have high expectations, so for a casual user this may not all matter.  Coffee in: This machine comes with 3 baskets, a single and double pressurized basket for fine (espresso grind) ground coffee, and a non pressurized for those who will use normal ground for filter coffee. As I have access to a grinder, I used the pressurized. This machine does not have a good pump or pressure; a grind used with a normal espresso machine will choke this machine up, while a coarser grind allows the water to run right through

 However, for an enthusiast, I advise waiting until you can save up more and get a lower end Breville, a Gaggia Classic, or a Rancilio Silva. I wish I did.

 It is very tough to grind coffee right for this thing. The included tamper is pretty much a joke, I bought a stainless steel one and it worked better.  Coffee out: It tastes okay. The machine pushes a very large amount of water out, so shots are either watery or short in time

You can see that there's two shots where the espresso can come down and you have the option here between your single shot on this side, the middle is your double shot and then the last button is your frother which we'll get into at the end of the video. So for my espresso, I press the button and there we go. The espresso has started, so there we go

 But first, we'll taste this and it's very nice. Espresso: This is the Starbucks espresso roast from Walmart, so I feel like you can just go get that yourself. So now we have our espresso which tastes great. Uh, we'll actually put some milk on that and we'll actually turn it into a latte, which I really like

 so now you just got to wait till the container that you have is kind of lukewarm or hot depending on how you want to make your latte. If I'm going on a long trip and I kind of want to have a hot drink in my car, I usually make it pretty hot, but that's usually not the best way to make coffee. but I like to have it hot sometimes when I'm not going to have it right away. So once it's hot to the touch, you can stop and there you go

 So now we have our espresso which tastes great. Uh, we'll actually put some milk on that and we'll actually turn it into a latte, which I really like. And I usually make most of my espressos into lattes because I really like cream. Everyone everyone knows that, especially for my coffee

 if you can get it hot enough without the foam overflowing your bell. With practice, a large bell, and the foam dial set to the right level, this is all doable.  Making the espresso is easy enough as long as you don't use more than 1.5 scoops of grounds, as noted above

)  Steaming milk results in plenty of foam without even trying. The trouble is, it produces so much foam so quickly that the 12oz bell I bought gets completely full of milk/foam before the milk is hot enough. So I bought a bigger bell (3soz), but that requires me to use a lot more milk so the short steamer wand can reach it, so I always have milk left over.  When making espresso, your shots will turn bitter if they sit around for more than a few seconds before either drinking them quickly (the way the Italians do) or adding milk

 However, if you don't want to fork out another $100 bucks, then this steamer will suffice especially if you're more into cappuccino than lattes.  A mid-level grinder will do wonders for this machine and increase flavor on espressos, Americanos, lattes, etc. The popular $100 Capresso (my first burr grinder) on the last or second to last setting will get you an okay shot. However, if you're going to spend money on fresh roasted coffee beans for your espresso, then you will save money in the long run and get exponentially better coffee by investing in a better grinder

I decided to order this model rather than ones at 1/2 the price because of the slim design, the stainless steel body (rather than plastic like the cheaper ones) and a review I saw online. We are loving it! It does NOT have a place to store the filter cups, unlike a similar and cheaper model), but it warms up fast and the auto-features make it foolproof. However, the plastic scoop if oval shaped (like an overgrown gel capsule), and the design makes it impossible to scoop the ground beans into the filter cup without spilling many of them all over the counter. I'm now using a smaller diameter scoop from a previous Espresso machine

I've ordered and received a very nice, heavy stainless steel tamper from Amazon for less than $20 that is FAR better, more comfortable to hold and use, and is shiny stainless steel which matches the machine, AND is just short enough to fit on the cup tray when not in use
