My main reasons for choosing a Likebook Mars over an Onyx Boox device are that it has an audio port and a micro SD card slot. I frequently run Spotify while reading on it, and I like having the extra storage space for manga and music.

I used to own a Kindle Touch as well, and just a couple of months ago I bought myself a Onyx Boox Nova 3. Couldn't be happier. Biggest differences:

Pros:

- hot damn 300 PPI makes a huge difference
- the 7.8" screen felt huge compared to my 6" Kindle Touch screen at first, but I got used to it really quickly and now I really really prefer it. It's much closer to the size of a hardcover book page, which I really like
- frontlight and warm frontlight customization finally let me read in bed without annoying the hell out of my girlfriend. 10/10 would recommend.
- I use it all the time for notes during work, personal life, even when I play cards with friends and need to keep score. Now I don't have to take a notepad and pen on long bike rides!
- if you are a fan of unscrupulous means of acquiring ebooks, libgen and transmission are *very* useful android apps...

Cons:

- battery life isn't quite as long as on my kindle touch, even with wireless turned off most of the time
- a little bit heavier to hold onto, though I got used to this faster than I expected
- the case is just OK, and the pen fits into the case... just OK. It can be a little annoying when I'm just trying to read in bed, but I usually just end up setting the pen on my nightstand on the rare occasions that it really bothers me
- there are basically no third-party cases out there compatible with these devices, so you're pretty much stuck with no case, the first party case that comes with the nova 3, or a sleeve that's not really a case IMO
- I really like the built-in NeoReader app, but it took some customization to get used to. Of note:
   - you can load custom fonts -- Google's Literata is very nice, and freely available, and much better than anything that comes with Boox devices
   - the font size customization in NeoReader only lets you set the font size to 14 or so via the dialog box, which is still too large for me. Fortunately the pinch-to-zoom motion controls font size directly, and has no such limit...
   - No way to set "ragged right" justification, which I really wish I had. (if anyboy else figures out a way to do this in NeoReader, let me know!)

Hopefully this helps your search. Keep in mind that Onyx/Boox tablets are running full Android, but they haven't released any of the source code for their tweaks on top of Android, so they're technically in violation of the GPL... so depending on your morals, you might not want to support them. In my case, they seemed less evil/monopolistic than Amazon and more customizable than Kobo so I decided to go with Boox anyway.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I'm looking for a reader that will really just be used for reading. I don't note take or annotate. I would love something that I can read in bed, late, with dim to no light. I would also love something that has a bigger screen. I think the kindle touch is 6inches. I'd like at least 7.

It seems like the best option would be one of the 7 or 8 inch Kobos. I would really much prefer an Android device, however, and that's where I'm struggling.

[Boox tablets](https://www.boox.com) all run Android. They don't "officially" support the Play Store, but they have an easy button to activate the Play Store anyway and it works perfectly.

Are there any e-book readers (not smartphones) that have android app support? Here in Estonia there is a paid e-book subscription service that uses an android app. I like reading books from a e-book reader (the screen is better for my eyes) but reading e-books from a smartphone just isn't for me.

&#x200B;. I am thinking of replacing my Likebook Mars with a better performing e-reader. The Likebook has been my first reader and I think I can make a step to a better (or more expensive) product. My biggest complaint with the Boyue e-reader is that the software is quite slow and feels "clumsy" when navigating menus (even with A2 mode) or turning pages, and a bit of ghosting

 I need an e-ink reader to use for reading at night before going to sleep and being able to highlight text and later review and amend that text in Word or Google docs. I also want to be able to continue reading on tablet or PC when it is not before bedtime.  So why the Nova 3. It gives me 7

Maybe not quite as good as the Oasis, but not concerns at all. Not quite the build quality feel as the metal case of the Oasis, but then I use a case

A good e-reader, not so good tablet

 I found that it was unusable as a reader due to weight and the need for a remote for page turn buttons. I am not going to sit my "book" on a stand, I want to change positions and "curl up with a book".  Being a tablet the battery life holds up way better than I would have predicted even if it is eink.  The Forma changes orentation when I turn it. When I purchased this I did not expect the weight to bother me but it does when holding for a long time vs other ereaders like the Forma which has the same screen size. One must also touch the screen to change pages which is clunky, many users buy a remote control to turn pages and put the Nova 3 on a stand or table rather than hold it. This is very inconvenient

I am comparing this as an ereader to a Koba Forma. The Forma has side page turn buttons and weighs much less despite the same screen size. The Forma changes orentation when I turn it. When I purchased this I did not expect the weight to bother me but it does when holding for a long time vs other ereaders like the Forma which has the same screen size

 I'm open to a device that is 8 inches or larger, and ideally has a nicer screen. Some options I was considering were the Galaxy Tab S7+ used (tough to find under $400), or going the e-ink route with an Onyx Boox Nova 3.

I wanted to buy an e-reader to read books on because I read a lot, sometimes hours at a time and the e-ink format is better for your eyes. I have an iPad but for extended reading times the backlighting and blue light is bad for eyes. My only problem was I didn’t want to be boxed into buying an Amazon kindle or B&N nook reader that only supported their brand books and subscriptions.
