 Let's ramp it up again. Now if you want to shortcut to the brightest double tap and that is the 5,000 you'll see it better when we go outside. To get to the strobe you double tap again strobe warning. Now when the light is off if you long press this you will get to a really low reading mode

 You know you would think that this is just a floodlight but no. Now this light is controlled by a side switch to turn it on you just press that side switch. Now this has ramping which is gradual increase and decrease in brightness. That's often called stepless brightness but basically if you press this down as you can see and it'll blink when it gets to its maximum and to decrease it just press that and again it'll blink when it gets to the lowest right that's uh that's pretty low

 Hold on. All right it's a very low mode don't worry not gonna blind you. Right so long press from off gives you the reading mode. In order to replace the batteries you just unscrew the body of the light

 We're going to begin with simple like beam cross sections and beam profiles and then we're going to take it on the road and light up some still scenes, light up the sports field, and then we'll be back for final thoughts on this light.  it does exactly what I want, when I want. The beam distance is at least 1/4 of a mile. Hands down, one of the best torches for the money.

 When we point it toward the lighthouse, you can see how bright it actually is. The lighthouse is about 200 meters away. I'm very impressed with the Q8's output. The way it can flood and throw far away is a great combination for this light

 It's got a tripod mount or a lanyard adapter if you want to put one of those lanyard holes that screw into there. So the loaded UI in this is the ramping UI. So if you hold down the button, it will go to moonlight and if you keep holding down the button, it will go all the way up to turbo right there when it does that bump. You know you're at turbo

 Alright guys, what is going on? We got another flashlight review and we've got one on the BLF Q8 budget life form. Again, this time made by Thorfire and sent to me again by Banggood in this generic kind of cardboard box. And then you get two, count them, two manuals in English. Because this light can have up to, what am I right here, 13, no 12 modes or groups, excuse me, 12 groups you can program this light into

 So if you want to use this as a bonafide searchlight or if you want to use a backup light in your campsite or just all kinds of uses. Super cool that it has this attachment for a tripod. Very, very cool. If you need to concentrate light on a certain area for a long period of time and you're working on something, it's just got so many uses and it's stationary and you don't have to hold it hands free

 Probably the best value per lumens if you're looking for a well made light with a good user interface and a nice tint. At the $40 I paid for it, it's amazing, and it's still nice at it's $80 regular price. And I'm sure if you went looking for some Amazon or Ebay multi emitter garbage you might find something slightly brighter for cheaper, but it would also have terrible PWM, a bad tint, and a bad user interface. The Q8 is a high tech light with a ton of options to tweak in it's Narsil firmware

 Press it once to turn it on, press and hold to ramp up, and it gets to the brightest setting after a few seconds. And then release, press and hold to go down the brightness scale. So when finding the brightness you want on the scale, if you release the button for less than 3ish seconds, it'll go the opposite way. If you have last touched the button more than 3 seconds ago, it will continue the original way you were going, so if you pass up that brightness, release it for a second, press it and it'll go back down to the one you want

 Remember those figures below are my figures, the lumens is the overall brightness, and the CD or candela refers to the intensity of the beam, best represented in the hot spot visually or the bright center of the beam. Now the Olite X7. Much brighter, less throwy, cool white tint. We'll look at this monster for a few seconds before moving back to the BLF Q8, and then we're going to go to the Convoy L6, so we have a frame of reference over another budget light

It is very durable as I've accidentally dropped it from various heights ranging from waist height to off the roof of a 1 storey building.

At Medium, the torch is throwing enough light that I'm beginning to question whether a 1600 lumen output could be the sort of thing that might require a permit or license to operate, but I'm unwaivered: I have to know how bright this is, so I tap the setting button up to High.

Don't look for other products, just buy this. Buy ten of them and strap them together if you need to replace a lighthouse, a star, the light from an arc welder, or perhaps some sort of research-grade lighting apparatus used to test light absorption of materials like Vanta-Black or Black 2.0. This is the best possible lighting experience you can get for the money and if, like me, you are one of those poor fools who thought an LED Mag-Lite was bright, you can join the Brotherhood of Bright, Flashy Things and spread the gospel of Fenix lights and what it means to send darkness fleeing

I purchased this flashlight because I saw the outstanding performance from other Fenix products my father owns and from the lasting shame and disappointment that comes with realizing a 3 D-cell LED Mag-Lite just isn't all that bright. I love this light.
