 It's in an area where there's no lights really all that close by. The closest is a street light about 100 feet from us and I was pushing 8000 ISO but with that denoise on it's still a little bit rough around the edges but not bad at all. So while you definitely have some solid low light here I'd love to see it get even better with future versions. Then the one other thing that I would love to see in the next version of this camera is in body stabilization

 Blackmagic is clearly a company that loves indie filmmakers and I love them for that. But I had some issues with the 4K too. Some of those issues were also carried over to the next camera with the 6K so I didn't upgrade but now we have the 6K Pro that they just released which really does seem to fix all of my major issues.  As we switch over you'll see everything else gets grayed out, we don't have 6K, we do have the 4K DCI, Ultra HD and HD. But the difference with the 4K DCI between the two codecs with RAW you're cropping in on that 6K sensor to get the 4K so you aren't using the entirety of the sensor and you're losing a bit there if you want a wider frame. However with ProRes you are using the whole sensor so you are getting that 4K without the crop and this is just due to the way RAW works. For frame rates you have up to 120 frames per second in 2K and HD and up to 60 with everything else except for full 6K which tops out at 50 frames per second

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro Review

 I've been a big fan of what Blackmagic has been doing for the last several years and

 we shifted over to their cameras around two years ago now with the Pocket Cinema 4K and

 the Ursa Mini G2 becoming our main cameras for the show since then.

 Now we did a review for the 4K in 2019 where I loved all over it and the thing that I've

 been in love with is the level of quality that you get while still being super affordable.

 Blackmagic is clearly a company that loves indie filmmakers and I love them for that.

 Some of those issues were also carried over to the next camera with the 6K so I didn't

 upgrade but now we have the 6K Pro that they just released which really does seem to fix

 This is the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro and right off the bat you can see here

 It's actually bigger than the 6K too, I just don't have that one to compare it to and I

 I actually really like how this one feels more so than the 4K.

 It's a lot nicer to grip onto and it makes it feel like I have more control.

 The next and for me one of the greatest new things on this camera is the swivel screen.

 The fixed LCD of the 4K and the 6K were possibly my biggest complaint.

 With a camera like this you really need that flexibility to see what you're doing.

 Otherwise you're going to need to mount an external monitor up top and that starts to

 push away from what makes a camera like this so great to begin with.

 It can only swivel up and down, no side to side here but I can absolutely live with this,

 maybe we'll get more articulation in the future versions but this is a much needed improvement.

 It makes shooting so much more comfortable.

 I literally had to lay on the ground or just guess sometimes with the 4K so I'm very happy

 It's brighter and it seems to be much higher quality.

 I'm able to see what I'm doing in the daylight a lot more easily here than with the 4K.

 And speaking of shooting in the daylight, another new addition and maybe the best one

 I said it on the show recently, nowadays built-in ND filters are really a must for me so I'm

 very happy to see them added here and these are IR NDs which do block IR contamination.

 So now we have these high quality ND filters right in camera controlled with these plus

 No more need for messing around with ND filters in front of the lens, thank god.

 And inside the menu you can also decide how you want the camera to display what ND you're

 using, the number, the stop, or the fraction.

 Then something that isn't new from the last 6K but is new to me compared to my 4K is the

 This is another big one for me since I can now use my stable of lenses and I have the

 depth of field that I want without needing something like a Metabones adapter.

 But then something that is new to this camera from the last 6K are the NP-F batteries.

 They're supposed to last longer which I will say it does seem to have a better life with

 this camera than with the 4K and the 6K Pro is definitely a bit more power hungry.

 And to help that out further let's look at something that doesn't come with this camera

 You're going to have to buy this one separately but it's completely worth it.

 The grip doesn't connect into your camera's battery tray so that means that you can leave

 your battery in the camera plus have the two loaded in the grip for a total of three batteries.

 And this is supposed to give you about three hours of battery life this way and the great

 thing about this setup is that since you have your battery remaining in the battery tray

 these other two are really just continually recharging that battery in the tray.

 So now you can hot swap these batteries without ever losing power to your camera.

 Then another amazing new thing that you will need to buy separately is the EVF.

 Yes this one has the option of a viewfinder and I am insanely thrilled about this upgrade.

 Having a viewfinder for when you're shooting outside or just that form of shooting that

 gives you that old school additional stabilization point is really a great thing to have and

 something I have very much been missing.
