 If I had more, it would become another sore point.  *** Original *** This review is about the BenQ TK850. It's worth noting that here on Amazon, reviews for the TK850 and similar BenQ HT3550 are intermixed. The TK850 is significantly brighter, while the HT3550 is a lower-lumen, more color-accurate projector

BenQ TK850:  A good, not great, collection of compromises

 It's just not as bright as the HT 2050. Now I know that the colors are more accurate and that's a sacrifice you make, but in my situation where I have a window nearby, it's kind of handy to have those extra lumens. Another thing that I really liked about the HT 2050 was that it had a smart eco mode, which helped the bulb last longer and it was able to adjust based on the scenario and the scene and it would make it brighter and less bright depending on the scene. Now smart eco on this doesn't seem to work as well

 This does have a higher contrast ratio than the HT2050 that I had because this does have dynamic iris that can lead to more contrast, darker blacks. But also in this case, you can also notice that when the dynamic iris is on, it also allows certain scenes to be brighter. Another thing that's very noticeable on this is when I played Avengers Infinity War and it switched to HDR mode, in this case it's HDR10, I definitely noticed a difference in the pop, in the colors and the amount of colors and the vibrance. And that is more noticeable to me than the higher resolution

 So I'm just going to go ahead and list some pros and cons as I see it. So at first I thought that the 4K was going to be the most important thing because you know, more resolution, the better, right? Well, what I found out was that from my viewing distance with projectors in general, the resolution is not as important as other factors such as contrast ratio. This does have a higher contrast ratio than the HT2050 that I had because this does have dynamic iris that can lead to more contrast, darker blacks. But also in this case, you can also notice that when the dynamic iris is on, it also allows certain scenes to be brighter

 If you look at the specs, it's somewhere between two and three decibels, which is significant. The other thing I noticed is that this projector is just not as bright. It's just not as bright as the HT 2050. Now I know that the colors are more accurate and that's a sacrifice you make, but in my situation where I have a window nearby, it's kind of handy to have those extra lumens

 All you have to do just unscrew or screw those little legs to change the angle and basically you can set up the proper horizon level and it's very simple and straightforward to do making this thing very easy to install, which I think is a very fantastic feature. You no longer have to put magazine or some kind of newspaper under one angle to kind of tilt the picture a little bit. So installation of this thing is very straightforward and very simple.  Once I bought the projector (and waited weeks for it to arrive), I started feeling like my Monoprice speaker setup was a little lean... I somehow got my wife to also agree to a sonic upgrade

Built my own Atmos theater to be better than my local AMC!

 The remote is small and hard to see in the dark, though it is back-lit once you press a button, i find the controls a little cumbersome to navigate but the menus are pretty straight forward. One of my favorite features is that it saves zoom and position settings so you can just select a preset and go back and forth between watching super widescreen movies and the more TV friendly 1.85 aspect ratio movies as well once you zero them all in. Thats a feature that was missing in the comparably priced Sony model that helped make my decision even easier
