 You know, this is a bare bones preamp, there's not much to it. It's really just, it's quite versatile in the options, but it's kind of like a set it and forget it type thing, you won't really be messing with many of these settings. And it just sounds great, it's solid, you know, you can see it's got like a little texture to the paint, and it's like this gun red, it's almost like automotive paint or something, it's really smooth. And then comparing it to shit audio, low key, you can see the size difference right here

 Yeah, it's a good preamp, I really like it. Unfortunately, I can't really justify the $150 price tag because it sounds very identical to the Pioneer phono preamp, but like I said, that's actually a good thing because these preamplifiers are really, really, really good. You definitely want to look into the Bellari if you have a poor preamp, it definitely brings a lot more out of the vinyl, so yeah, if you have any specific questions, I didn't see many videos about this preamp, so if you have anything, just let me know, and yeah, thank you for watching.

 Comparing it to my Pioneer VSX 5900S, it's a great amplifier from the 90s, and there's not much of a difference, which is a good thing, because back then, people actually, you know, manufacturers really cared about vinyl playback, and they put good preamplifiers in their amps. So the Bellari definitely is on par with an amplifier like that. So if you have an old receiver that, you know, you don't like the phono stage, or if you have a really new receiver that sounds like crap on the phono stage, the Bellari will definitely do the trick. I can really attest to it sounding pretty similar to the one in the high end Pioneer amplifier from the 90s

Bellari VP549 Phono Preamplifier Review (Rolls) -Adam HiFi-

 My biggest concern was that vinyl would sound like my CD player. it doesn't, it's smooth, silky, musical and enjoyable. I'm very pleased.

First off I couldn't justify spending as much or more for a phono preamp as I had on my 1960's Harman Kardon A300 integrated tube amp. I set a price for a phono stage at under 200.00 and actually found this Bellari VP549 on an Amazon open box for only 109.00

 Instruments that were hard to make out in the mix are now distinct and positioned on the sound stage.  Lots of functionality, like different types of outputs, single ended balanced ones, switch to override volume control for your RCA outputs that I really liked. It can be powered from your PC, it can be upgraded with a good low noise power supply, if you are that kind of crazy audiophile, and most importantly, great sound quality. Now when you get it out of the box, it's just very good. It's kind of very liquid-like, fluid, soft sound

 And if you are a crazy audiophile like I am, and if you want to hook it up to a really nice system that can feel the difference, having some low noise power supply is also the last step you can take, and bring its sound quality to a level that I really did not expect. And just to put some weight behind those words, let me tell you this. This is a loaned unit, sent by iFi to me to make a review. But I like it so much, I like its sound, build quality and everything so much, that I don't want to send it back

 It still has a lot of details, but that's its character. If you expect upfront jumping at you sound, you will not get that, at least out of the box. But you shouldn't stop there, because just a minute worth of troubles going to the website downloading new firmware with GTO filter will bring you much more focused and snappier sound from it. At that moment, with new firmware, Zandac is the best DAC I've heard in this price range

 But you might want to think about it, I'll get to that later when I talk about sound quality. So on the front, there are two headphone outputs, one very typical single-ended, 6.25mm, and the other one is balanced, again, 2.5mm for those of you who have balanced headphones

iFi Zen DAC review - Multi talented

 The price is phenomenal for the performance, versatility, and build quality. If you're trying to build a moonshot audiophile system, you're probably going to have to up the price and get something more powerful, but for $149 you're going to listen to this thing and wish you had bought it sooner, trust me.

 I had looked at the Mani and other mid-level preamps, but I just felt like there was something out there that had to be a cut above. This preamp is what I was looking for. Immediately out the box, I ran through some of the best sounding records, and was blown away. The stereo separation is excellent, the sound-stage is full and robust, and the audio signal is clean and crisp

 Once I got the Kantos, I realized the PP999 was holding everything else in my setup back. It was like the sound was sunken into the speakers. Now, it still sounded very good, but I could tell there was a lot of performance being left on the table.  By pure chance, I was shopping on Discogs one day and saw a blog post about preamps, which led me here

 My Sub6 is no longer muddy and it can really be pushed to its full potential, unlike with the PP999.  Overall, if you are looking for that killer preamp in a midrange or enthusiast setup, this is the one to get. The price is phenomenal for the performance, versatility, and build quality. If you're trying to build a moonshot audiophile system, you're probably going to have to up the price and get something more powerful, but for $149 you're going to listen to this thing and wish you had bought it sooner, trust me

Help With a DAC

 The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because the moving magnet cartridge setting of only 36db gain is too low, IMO. The only time that it matters is when you want to crank up the volume. I have to turn my amp up to at least 90% which is a bit much. I tried the MC high setting of 48db with my 4mv output cartridge and got popping and distortion during hot sections of the recordings

 That setting is definitely a "no go" with my cartridge anyway. This preamp sounds too good for that to be a deciding factor. I don't play my setup that loud very often and it sounds amazing with the volume slightly lower. I just wish the Zen had included a 40db gain setting

Great sounding preamp, but........

  Good stuff - definite improvements in sound vs old Parasound; better dynamics & detail (more low base, improved midrange, can hear instruments I had not been able to hear on some songs, etc). I also appreciated that the Zen's front panel blue lights are not too bright.  Not so good - wall wart power supply. My Parasound had a built in supply

I ordered this to replace an ancient Parasound Z series phono preamp (ied after 20+ years of service - great value), used with a Music Hall 2 turntable with a built-in unbalanced RCA cable & ground line. I use Kimber Kable silver streak to connect it to my preamp.  Good stuff - definite improvements in sound vs old Parasound; better dynamics & detail (more low base, improved midrange, can hear instruments I had not been able to hear on some songs, etc). I also appreciated that the Zen's front panel blue lights are not too bright

Great sound. Annoying design.

 For better or worse this item (and several other iFi products from what I read) makes that happen by an obscure 4-ring mini 1/8" plug. Finding one of these of any quality is either a multi-week wait from China or by sheer luck finding the ONE that is sold here which doesn't come up on a search. A friend who found it sent me the link, and when I purchased it the listing said it was the last one.

First off, I am blown away by the features and sound quality of this little bugger. A nice alternative to a Schiit Mani- it certainly doesn't keep up with my Musical Fidelity MX-VYnL, but I'm kinda glad it doesn't..

 So finally settled on the much more affordable Ifi Zen phono. I was blown away. Great sound, no distortion, clean spectral, Extremely flat frequency response. Everything youd want in your signal path

 Detailed smooth treble, rich mids and accurate bass extension.  Im very pleased this keeps up with preamps and eliminates the competition up to the $500 range easy.  With a VM95ML a real giant killer!!!
