 Being a Z690 chipset, the BIOS gives you all the manual freedom to adjust CPU clock ratio and precise voltage for a refined overclocking experience. Finally, this would not be an ASUS motherboard without the usual RGB feasting which made us all wonder if there is nothing more than this life, but this. Starting with a rather pretty bright and well placed addressable RGB street and I really want to note how this looks so much better than all of the previous RGB attempts on the previous Prime motherboards. Now in addition, we also have our 4 RGB Aura connectors, 3 of which are addressable

 But the truth is that we have motherboards like the Z690 RS Pro which by the way I've reviewed and you should be checking if you haven't done so just yet, which does cost $30 more, granted but also brings so much more on the table. It sure is not as good looking as the Prime Z690A but it'll give you more for your money. So in short, the Prime Z690A is an amazing everyday, versatile, stable, long lifespan motherboard. But it's really only worth it if you can find it on sale, unfortunately

ASUS PRIME Z690-A : The full REVIEW

 Prior to that discovery the MOBO\memory was unstable and the memory failed the Passmark Memtest After that fix, the system remained unstable, and I thought it was due to CPU overclocking however,the system still crashed with all overclocking turned off. Diags on the CPU say it was fine. It could have been a driver issues but event viewer points toward hardware as such I requested a replacement board. The replacement MOBO did not fix the issue

Nice features, but I would pass on the MOBO (at least until they get a more stable BIOS)

A Z690 Prime motherboard will be the cheapest and work perfectly fine, don't bother with 600$ motherboards. 850W power supply is minimum for a 3090, if you can get a 1000w one, gold rating at minimum in both cases. Storage, SN850 from WD is the best bang for buck right now, you can always add 2.5 inch SSD or 3

TLDR; I bought a 3090, picked the rest of my components, but I am not confident I have an optimized setup.

I’ve been a casual console gamer for most of my life, but after using Shadow Virtual PC for a few months, and loving the graphics power, despite the other issues - I decided it was time to build my own PC. Being the obsessive type that I am, I knew if I was going to do this, I wanted to build the best PC I could.
I’ve been trying to pick up a graphics card, and just was able to get a GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 3090 24GB GDDR6X refurbished.
I have the rest built out in pcpartpicker, but I’m worried that just because I know all of my parts are compatible, doesn’t mean they’re optimized. I have a budget in mind for the rest of the build ($2k) but would love some input. Example, do I want to go Ryzen or i9 for CPU? Does it even matter? Should I go i7 if I’m going to be relying mostly on GPU?
Is it worth it to do 2tb of Corsair m600 if I’m planning to run 64gb of Corsair dominator RAM, or can I get away with something slower/cheaper?
So - anyone have input/advice/research resources? Thanks

Bought a 3090…

 Intel and Asus have recognized the issue but shipped bored using this terrible excuse of a network adapter anyway. Unacceptable on a near $300 motherboard imo. Can not recommend any mobo using Intel I-225V NIC.

Great Board with major annoyance. *updated*

 Asus markets its Prime boards as all-around platforms, with the "A" designation reserved for the top model in a given series. The Prime's price puts it in competitive waters, so we're glad to say it cruises "Alder Lake" without jumping the shark. But it doesn't dazzle us, either.

 Its storage connectivity is good but not substantially better than that of similarly priced boards'. It has plenty of fan headers for cooling enthusiasts, but the layout of those headers isn't ideal. It has no Wi-Fi capabilities, but it isn't significantly cheaper than boards that do. The single RGB lighting strip seems tacked on to check a box, rather than fully integrated into the design scheme

The motherboard's white/silver/black color scheme is a nice alternative to the usual blacked-out boards. Anyone who's built a system with a black motherboard inside a black case can tell you the dark interior seems to gobble up loose screws faster than a Dyson vacuum. The Asus' black PCB, white silk screening, and matte blasted aluminum heatsinks contrast nicely against one another (though they make photography metering a nightmare). For a little extra flash, a single RGB strip runs down the top VRM heatsink, just over the rear I/O cover

Altogether, the Prime Z690-A has a nicely balanced look&mdash;nothing that screams "Look at me!" or nothing that's trying to hide. Like a well-cut suit, it's a board that can look at home in almost any build.

Asus Prime Z690-A Review

 Because while that board had 4 PCAE 16x connectors, this one has only 2, but tons of additional PCAE expansion instead. So while you have way less 16x slots in that board, you do have a configuration that does make more sense in most situations. Most people don't run 4 16x cards, and let's be honest, if you are running a smaller 1x card and 4x card from a looks perspective, it definitely looks a lot better to have a 1x card in a 1x slot, than a 1x card in a 16x slot. So yes, in theory, the configuration does make a lot more sense here, even if you do have less of those massive 16x slots

 Because if you are going to run a 1200K, well something like this board is a must, because the Z690P may be limiting your high-end CPU just a bit. Another thing to keep in mind, is that this board, at least right now, is only available in DDR5, so that may also influence which board you go for. Also, at least right now, you can only get this board without WiFi. There is no WiFi variant listed anywhere on Asus' website, so that's something else to look out for

 And the board we'll be discussing today is the Asus Prime Z690A, or basically just a step up version of the Z690P from Asus we recently covered. So I highly recommend you check out that video as well, it's coming up in the icons. But yeah, the Z690A is pretty much just a step up of that board in every single possible way. Starting with the CPU power, with this thing being way more suited for powering something like a 12900K than the Z690P, because this thing has 2 8 pins for the CPU, plus 16 phasers going directly to the CPU compared to the 8 plus 4 pin configuration and 14 phasers of the Z690P

65 you know? So I wanted like strong memory overclocking at like d. All like medium to medium overclock voltages, right? Not like like I didn't need some kind of like I didn't need 2 volts. I didn't expect 2 volts. I didn't need 2 volts

 This doesn't do over 4 600 on Samsung B Die. And like, as far as I'm concerned, that should be easy. It shouldn't be like super difficult. You should be able to do like 4 600 And then you know 4 800

Ranting about RAM overclocking on the ASUS ROG STRIX B550-XE GAMING WIFI

 Here are some split, uh, fan headers. Three pin to three pin. Okay, then this is. um, here are some again some Rgb connectors

2 Ssds. Stick this pad on the existing M.2 pad. Okay, so there's some additional double sided tape for your M

 As you can see, this is the heat spreader as there are thermal pads on the side, but I'm baffled to know why are they doing it horizontal or why are they doing it slanting. Also is that to like adjust to the design of Asus where everything is is lined up slam silently like on the hero or on the Strix motherboards. I guess that's the reason, but let me know down in comments if you know. but as of now this is really mind-boggling Imagine the performance read: 4 thousand

 This is again, what are some screws? Another screw, your setup screw, and okay, these are heat dissipators for single for single-sided S. M.2 Ssds. Stick this pad on the existing M

ROG STRIX B550-XE GAMING WIFI - Hyper M.2 x 16 Gen 4??

 The heatsink is also very beefy which is perfect for overclocking. It also includes a PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD add in card, which is a welcome addition.

The best B550 motherboard on the market

 I hooked it up with a Samsung 980 Pro and I installed Windows in less than 4 minutes!  It's got a built-in AI Noise-Cancelling so I can worry less about my surrounding while working from home and while gaming.  The best feature in this motherboard that I love so much is the built-in WiFi 6. I'm now playing Warzone via wifi with ethernet-like speeds and lowest latencies.  RAM overclocking has been pretty stable so far

  What I really loved about it are the following:  PCIE 4.0 is no joke. I hooked it up with a Samsung 980 Pro and I installed Windows in less than 4 minutes!  It's got a built-in AI Noise-Cancelling so I can worry less about my surrounding while working from home and while gaming.  The best feature in this motherboard that I love so much is the built-in WiFi 6

Amazing features of X570 in a B550 board.. and it's ROG!

 I actually bought a manfrotto. Um, anyway, so plenty of, uh, heat sinkage around the outside of the socket. This up here as well. you dropped

 I might sort it out before the end of the video anyway. Uh, power. Around the top, you can see there is an awful lot of power phases around the outside of the Cpu socket. I can tell you that it's uh, 14 plus two phases

 At the very bottom of the board you have your front panel headers. You've also got the uh, clear Bios thing here. It's worth getting the little switches that you can use for turning a board on, but also for the clear Bios, you literally have a little and then you can just clear the bar so that's really quick and easy. It's basically a power header, starter, or reset switch

So nice to be able to say the word motherboard and Amd together because there's been too much graphics cards and Nvidia lately, so this is a very, very early look at the B550 Xe Rockstrix board. It's basically their B550 Extreme. They've thrown loads at it, so it's going to be at the top end of the scale for both features and price, but it could be the B550 that you might save a bit of money on and go for some features rather than going for the X 570 version if you're going to be buying a 5900x or even a 5950 X if you're lucky enough. Obviously there are going to be other Cpus and stuff, but they're just the two top of the range ones that I thought I would pick out for uh, possibilities with this
