Oh, and they have no way to assist me in replacing the part: "Open it up and good luck!"

 The machine, however, is poorly made, poorly designed, and is ultimately not durable. To me, that makes it one to avoid. In less than two years and only ~750 shots of espresso, I had a number of worn out gaskets, two broken steam knobs, and a broken steam valve. This is despite regular cleaning

If you want a headache with your espresso, buy this one

Based on Son’s experience an E61 machine is not for me. These are like Rolexes, nice but need regular maintenance that can get expensive. 

 Go through a number of mid range drip machines but remain unsatisfied. Find a KitchenAid SCAA certified machine on sale at the Bay. This is now getting somewhere until the carafe breaks but find out the replacement was more than I paid for the machine and sorry we don’t make that machine anymore and carafes are no longer available, 😠

Coffee is a hell of a drug.

The shots are definitely among the most flavorful I have ever pulled at home. They are not as good as a great espresso bar with a talented barista, but they’re very good - a definite step up for me, especially in consistency. And given that I’m in the middle of a rural area, they’re the best I can get for 31 miles (50 km) or more.

I’ve adjusted the temperature slightly; I’m now using 203˚ F (95˚ C). I’ve set the pre-infusion to 5 seconds. 

 The sequencing and temperature resetting are tricky and can lead to a lot of hot water splatter. As I said, I need more practice. 

It's Exactly What I'd Thought!

I got a return model which I ended up upgrading, however my thoughts are that it has amazing aesthetics- actually second to none in that department and is great that you can use 58mm accessories.

Also, the temperature displayed on the PID “jumps” from 86°C to the temp you selected (ex.: 94°C) so it’s hard to know if the temperature is accurate when cooling down or warming up. The only way to know is when the boiler light stops flashing. That’s just a small annoyance

Excellent espresso machine for the price.

 Night and day with the same beans. Easy to dial in and works well with the grinder. Very happy with our purchase and quick delivery. Even the courier was curious about what was in the boxes

 There is no PID, no pre programmable modes, and no automatic steaming. It is just a straightforward and well executed heat exchanger. Something that I often feel reviewers fail to properly represent is the user experience owning a machine like this. Everything feels and sounds industrial

 Rocket is somewhat known for its styling, and this machine is certainly no exception. The steam and hot water knobs carry the signature Rocket branding as well as front and back face plates, but it's not until you turn this machine to the side that it really steps away from the status quo. Twelve circular cut outs from the stainless steel side reveal an interchangeable plate beneath that is offered in several different colorways. This is a nice bit of a design to an otherwise classic looking machine

 All of these things combine to create an ownership experience that is completely different than an entry-level machine from companies like Breville. but what about the espresso experience itself? Having used the Breville barista Express for the better part of three years, here's what I noticed when I switched over. The number one thing for me has been consistency. I Know that if I douse, grind and tamp the exact same way, the resulting shot of espresso will be exactly the same every time with the barista

A two and a quarter litre non plumerville water reservoir is located at the back of machine and feeds into a 1.8 litre copper boiler

Rocket Appartamento Review

If you want to stare at the beautiful chrome and E61 of the Appartamento while you are struggling to control its temperature, get the Appartamento.

Rocket Appartamento or Breville Dual Boiler? I am torn. Someone make my decision for me.

Narrowed down to Rocket Appartamento and the new Crem one/expobar HX PID from whole latte love. I like the rocket design but love the features in the new Crem One with PID, larger drip tray ,and insulated boilers. I make 3-4 coffees a day and normally have milk based drinks.

4. Rocket Appartamento - right size, right looks, right price point, probably a decent step up from a BBE (copper internals, no PID or dual boiler..

wise the Appartamento would be better; the 4 kg heavier copper/brass boiler helps to keep the temperature more stable (but needs longer warming up from start). The other 2 have lighter stainless steal boilers, they can accumulate less heat. All these machines have a 4 kilo E61 group, with build in automatic pre infusion cilinder (no need to stop the lever half way, talking to you Mark @wholelattelove and many other Yankees ;) that would be to much extra pre infusion). To get this group head hot faster only de MaraX overheats the boiler at the start

First World problems - after weeks of research, I narrowed it down to these two machines but I can't decide.

I drink espresso's only, I don't mind the seperate water tank but understand the pressure knob on the Puristika isn't adding much value as you shouldn't use it frequently....and not planning on adding a flow mod.

Any thoughts?
