If you want a headache with your espresso, buy this one

Based on Son’s experience an E61 machine is not for me. These are like Rolexes, nice but need regular maintenance that can get expensive. 

 Go through a number of mid range drip machines but remain unsatisfied. Find a KitchenAid SCAA certified machine on sale at the Bay. This is now getting somewhere until the carafe breaks but find out the replacement was more than I paid for the machine and sorry we don’t make that machine anymore and carafes are no longer available, 😠

Coffee is a hell of a drug.

The shots are definitely among the most flavorful I have ever pulled at home. They are not as good as a great espresso bar with a talented barista, but they’re very good - a definite step up for me, especially in consistency. And given that I’m in the middle of a rural area, they’re the best I can get for 31 miles (50 km) or more.

I’ve adjusted the temperature slightly; I’m now using 203˚ F (95˚ C). I’ve set the pre-infusion to 5 seconds. 

 The sequencing and temperature resetting are tricky and can lead to a lot of hot water splatter. As I said, I need more practice. 

It's Exactly What I'd Thought!

I got a return model which I ended up upgrading, however my thoughts are that it has amazing aesthetics- actually second to none in that department and is great that you can use 58mm accessories.

Also, the temperature displayed on the PID “jumps” from 86°C to the temp you selected (ex.: 94°C) so it’s hard to know if the temperature is accurate when cooling down or warming up. The only way to know is when the boiler light stops flashing. That’s just a small annoyance

 Night and day with the same beans. Easy to dial in and works well with the grinder. Very happy with our purchase and quick delivery. Even the courier was curious about what was in the boxes

 Uh, and then you know the other switches and what have you here. Steam valve and the Pid controller. Overall, I'm impressed with the new Silvia Pro X What do I like? The ease of accessing machine functions from the front and center display. You know, I've programmed a lot of Pids with those plus and minus buttons and this is by far my favorite

5 millimeters in height. Should it go again, that's probably never going to happen, but if it did, all that water is going to end up outside into the drip tray. Our group head here. All the brass in this machine, by the way, is certified lead-free and the Italian standards are actually tighter than most of the Us standards, right? here

 I'll share what we like about the Silvia Pro and what to be aware of before you buy, and I'll finish up under the hood with a detailed look at internal components. Now that'll be from our original look at the pro model, but the Pro and Pro X are essentially identical internally. This is going to be a bit of a ride, but stick with me and you'll know this machine inside and out. For frame of reference, my preference is for a shot that tastes like high quality, old-school, dark chocolate--not the tangy stuff that seems to have become popular. My taste runs toward a blend of French and Italian roasts ground so fine that It takes about 2 minutes to pull a double shot.  This Rancilio replaces my 25 year old machine. And, after a few weeks of using Miss Silvia, I like it a great deal

Great manual machine

After years of hesitation, I finally took the plunge. I already owned a Rancilio grinder and this is my second semi-automatic espresso machine. I decided on the 2020 version because of energy efficiency, the black covering on the housing (to limit fingerprints) and group head plus it comes with a real tamper (not a piece of plastic). To me that was worth the $60 price difference

 The machine looks great, is compact (which is my number 1 reason not to get a double boiler) and I am very happy with the purchase. I fully expected to "learn" for a while and I think my game will improve a lot. The build of the machine seems rock solid with the exception of the sheet of steel used for the cover, which I don't believe will change anything. The water tank and cover are rock solid, the drip tray and cover are very well built and the knob, switches and steam arm all feel like higher quality bits

  Easy peasy and just a few hours time to install. The sensor/display is attached with double sided tape which makes installation/removal easy. Then you can move this PID up to your next silvia in say five years.

  Yes it is attached with double sided tape only but that is good for when you want to sell the machine only later on. So save the sensors etc. you remove when installing this PID and you can replace them later and move your PID up to the latest model Silvia in a few years.  Auber Instruments is a reputable US based company which I am sure does not "use the cheapest components available" as proposed by one review

High maintenance to keep the rust away, almost impossible. I've had my machine for years and use every day but the iron frame is super prone to rust. I'll post pictures to prove later.
