If you want a headache with your espresso, buy this one

Based on Son’s experience an E61 machine is not for me. These are like Rolexes, nice but need regular maintenance that can get expensive. 

 Go through a number of mid range drip machines but remain unsatisfied. Find a KitchenAid SCAA certified machine on sale at the Bay. This is now getting somewhere until the carafe breaks but find out the replacement was more than I paid for the machine and sorry we don’t make that machine anymore and carafes are no longer available, 😠

Coffee is a hell of a drug.

The shots are definitely among the most flavorful I have ever pulled at home. They are not as good as a great espresso bar with a talented barista, but they’re very good - a definite step up for me, especially in consistency. And given that I’m in the middle of a rural area, they’re the best I can get for 31 miles (50 km) or more.

I’ve adjusted the temperature slightly; I’m now using 203˚ F (95˚ C). I’ve set the pre-infusion to 5 seconds. 

 The sequencing and temperature resetting are tricky and can lead to a lot of hot water splatter. As I said, I need more practice. 

It's Exactly What I'd Thought!

I got a return model which I ended up upgrading, however my thoughts are that it has amazing aesthetics- actually second to none in that department and is great that you can use 58mm accessories.

Also, the temperature displayed on the PID “jumps” from 86°C to the temp you selected (ex.: 94°C) so it’s hard to know if the temperature is accurate when cooling down or warming up. The only way to know is when the boiler light stops flashing. That’s just a small annoyance

 Night and day with the same beans. Easy to dial in and works well with the grinder. Very happy with our purchase and quick delivery. Even the courier was curious about what was in the boxes

Whole Latte Love

 We've got just a 6-inch glass here and that's about the amount of space you got right here. Six inches. So I'm just going to press that latte macchiato button and it's telling me to make sure I put my carafe in and put the thing over. Now the carafe is really nice because you can just take this out of the fridge, pop it on, and make your drink, put it back in the fridge and you're ready to go

 It's an auto frothing wand. We're going to get right into that. I'm going to froth some milk for a milk based drink for a cappuccino. I'm using the one so all I do is just press the steam button over there thank you and we see the Machine Co better get that under there and heat it up quick

 We're just going to let that dispense our espresso until we've got the amount we want. Then we'll hit our check button and it will store that amount. Let's see what our what kind of a shot we get here. These machines do have an adaptive brewing system so it kind of learns through the pressure of the brewing and the amount of grinding that it's done to adapt nets

 Nevertheless included steam wand works very well and i also like that it is possible to use pre-ground coffee in addition to just beans. Machine is not too loud and has decent selections for the first time setup. I only hope the brewing mechanism and water pump hold out. I also have one of these Gaggia machines at work and i've seen it take ALOT of daily use without any problems which is why i chose this model in the first place

Good Machine

I decided to go with the Anima as a 'replacement' as WLL had a sale on so it only cost another $75 and it is way better looking, narrower and most of all, it will take a taller cup under the spout.

Great machine, great company.

 I thought the design of the machine and the firmware was quite good. It's hard to beat this device for convenience but I did find a machine that makes a better cappuccino, the Breville Barista Express BES870XL.  The Breville took a few tries to dial in the grind, dose, and tamping pressure, but the final result was a couple of steps up in aroma and taste from this Gaggia machine. The frothing attachment is far superior on the Breville once you get the technique down

 I could produce a really thick foam with minimum dilution. Plus I was able to walk into Bed, Bath, and Beyond and get one that wasn't damaged. Turns out that although it was about $30 more than Amazon, BB&B offers a 1-year money-back, no questions asked warranty, just keep your receipt and bring it back to the store. I might have to try the brick and mortar approach more often on large appliances

Good but not Great Cappuccino

Had to replace my Gaggia Titanium when it literally began to fall apart. After a lot of research decided to go with the Anima. Could not believe the taste this machine extracts for delicious lungos and espresso. Took a little time to practice with the steam wand for cappuccinos and lattes but it was well worth it

 You'll find that what you can make in your jammies at home is superior to what you can buy at coffee shops.
