 The machine, however, is poorly made, poorly designed, and is ultimately not durable. To me, that makes it one to avoid. In less than two years and only ~750 shots of espresso, I had a number of worn out gaskets, two broken steam knobs, and a broken steam valve. This is despite regular cleaning

If you want a headache with your espresso, buy this one

Based on Son’s experience an E61 machine is not for me. These are like Rolexes, nice but need regular maintenance that can get expensive. 

 Go through a number of mid range drip machines but remain unsatisfied. Find a KitchenAid SCAA certified machine on sale at the Bay. This is now getting somewhere until the carafe breaks but find out the replacement was more than I paid for the machine and sorry we don’t make that machine anymore and carafes are no longer available, 😠

Coffee is a hell of a drug.

The shots are definitely among the most flavorful I have ever pulled at home. They are not as good as a great espresso bar with a talented barista, but they’re very good - a definite step up for me, especially in consistency. And given that I’m in the middle of a rural area, they’re the best I can get for 31 miles (50 km) or more.

I’ve adjusted the temperature slightly; I’m now using 203˚ F (95˚ C). I’ve set the pre-infusion to 5 seconds. 

 The sequencing and temperature resetting are tricky and can lead to a lot of hot water splatter. As I said, I need more practice. 

It's Exactly What I'd Thought!

I got a return model which I ended up upgrading, however my thoughts are that it has amazing aesthetics- actually second to none in that department and is great that you can use 58mm accessories.

Also, the temperature displayed on the PID “jumps” from 86°C to the temp you selected (ex.: 94°C) so it’s hard to know if the temperature is accurate when cooling down or warming up. The only way to know is when the boiler light stops flashing. That’s just a small annoyance

 Night and day with the same beans. Easy to dial in and works well with the grinder. Very happy with our purchase and quick delivery. Even the courier was curious about what was in the boxes

The Bambino manages to pull espresso and steam milk that belies its small stature and price point &mdash; we had trouble discerning between cappuccinos made with this machine and those made with cafe-quality equipment. It also takes up relatively little counter space and costs nearly half of what many comparably capable espresso machines do. 
However, there is a drawback to the low cost of the Bambino. This machine does not have a built-in coffee grinder, meaning you'll need to purchase a separate one. While that extra cost generally won't wholly bridge the price gap between this and other cafe-worthy machines, it can come close. It'll be a pain in the butt if you don't like the ritual of it. If you don't want manual, it's probably around $600 for true quality espresso with a Breville Bambino and Eureka Notte or Sette 270. That will give you good shots and also has the milk frother if you ever want it. A good chunk of change though

A coffee machine for an iced coffee drinker?

 It's pretty easy after some practice and there's plenty of video tutorials so definitely give it a try. - Big water tank, easy to remove and fill - High clearance lets me easily fit my cup and scales directly under the portafilter - Simple to use. Dials and stuff would be cool but honestly so long as it pumps out adequate pressure and maintains a consistent temperature between shots, being able to monitor those variables is nice but redundant. Use a timer and cheap scales to dial-in shots, then taste, adjust grind/dose as needed, and you're all set

Home espresso machine

 Mine works great after a year. My daughter owns one too, and her experience has been the same, although she hasn't had the misfortune of needing a smaller machine for lack of space..

  Here's what the happened with the Breville Bambino. My friend didn't have the right kind of coffee grinder for whole beans, so she bought a few ounces of beans at a Peet's Coffee and asked the barista to grind them to the consistency appropriate for making espresso. She brought it home, and we tried it with the Bambino and---nothing, almost no coffee came out, and what did tasted terrible. Even after making sure NOT to tamp down the coffee in the filter with too much pressure, the Bambino proved INCAPABLE OF 'EXPRESSING' A SINGLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO, GROUND TO ESPRESSO MAKING CONSISTENCY AT A PEET'S COFFEE coffee bean seller

What I don't like about this machine is that it simply will not make a decent cup of espresso--not by my tastes. (Note; the milk frothing tool is, however, great; But froth alone doth not a good cappuccino make.) I honestly don't know whether this is a defect in the individual machine I purchased, but I tend to doubt it: it will simply not generate enough steam pressure to make a decent shot of espresso, of the kind that a bigger, more powerful but even similarly priced machine will be capable of doing. Almost exactly a year ago I bought and ordered a Breville Infuser Espresso Machine (BES840XL/A )

 But having already returned one machine (the pathetic De Longhi Dedica) I simply was too demoralized by the experience, and, so far, my friend and I have simply tried to adapt to the inferior Bambino. Perhaps we'll change our minds, but I honestly suspect that the problem with the Bambino, as probably with the De Longhi Dedica, is that smaller machines simply DO NOT WORK due to a basic design problem: they end up being structurally incapable of generating the kind of steam pressure required. At least, this is what I suspect. Perhaps far more expensive, smaller machines don't have this problem

SMALLER ESPRESSO MAKERS (not costing many hundreds of $) ARE BASICALLY USELESS

 But if you like a great coffee in less than a minute then this device is for you. What ever you choose, make sure it has the heat sink technology this device has. You need a contestant temperature in 3sec , don’t get an older model that you have to wait 15 mins for the machine to heat up.

I got the Bambino plus instead of a grinder/espresso maker combo because I live in a condo and don’t have much room in the kitchen. It heats up in 3 sec which is amazing. Temperature is very consistent and machine produce amazing coffee. The automatic milk frother is great

 The machine itself is stainless steel, solidly constructed, and the portafilter is heavy-duty. The frothing tube is self-cleaning which is ingenious. You can definitely find a less expensive unit, but you'll be compromising in key performance and construction areas, something I just wasn't willing to do. So, if you're looking for an aesthetically attractive, small-footprint, well-constructed machine that is simple to use and creates exceptional Espresso and Cappuccino, you will be truly pleased with this unit

 First, the way it was packaged was intelligent and simple. The manual is similarly thoughtful in its layout and one can immediately discern that it was written by someone whose first language is English. E.g

 Everything else is as intuitive as one would hope for. And, critically, as you can see from this photo, the one-shot creates superb crema and a rich, hot, cup of Espresso in just seconds.
