I would start with the bigger air coolers. I wouldn't get an entry-level air cooler (i.e., a sub-$35 cooler) but some of the coolers in the $50-$60 range would be just fine, like the Scythe Fuma 2 or Arctic Freezer 34 Esports Duo

What CPU cooler do you recommend for the i7 10700k

\- the cooler is a bit weak, get an arctic freezer II 280 or 360 (cheap when you consider the entire system cost) or Scyth FUMA. \- you can get a PCIE ver4 NVME (SAMSUNG 980). \- 7200 RPM 8TB disk would be a much nicer selection. \- You can get a 3080 for a similar price as the 3070ti

New PC Build Part List

I changed from a Corsair H115i Platinum to the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280, and it dropped temps about 10 C across the board for me on my 5800X. Corsair's hardware was fine except for their AM4 mounting mechanism. It had poor mounting pressure and especially poor over the hottest part of the heat spreader. The Arctic cooler has a very good mounting mechanism, it uses screws at each corner and comes with an offset mounting bracket for Ryzen 3000 and 5000 CPUs so it can line up the center of the coldplate with the hottest spot on the CPU heatspreader

Recently got a 5800x and it's running quite hot so I'm thinking about saving up for a liquid cooler and I was looking at the arctic liquid freezer 2, so I'm wondering if I should get the 240mm or 360mm or if there's another good option except ek cause I can't find them in any stores in my country.

Ryzen 7 5800x liquid cooler choice

 At Idle I am running at about 70C, I think, "Jeez, that's super high, but let's go ahead and make sure the monitor isn't crazy or anything." So I start a stress test, and within about 10 seconds I immediately shut it down as my CPU quickly spikes to 90C. I shut my system down and unplug it and bring it back to the bench. Clearly the plate isn't making the kind of contact I want

 These radiators are CHONKY, and the included fans are also quite hefty, so there was no where it was going to fit. No worries, I thought, I'm on board with having an extra good cooler since I just spent $1,000 on these two CPUs ($500 each, tax of buying computer parts during COVID times.), so I ordered a new case for my son, and decided to do my build while we waited for his new case to come in.  I have a full sized tower, and it is absolutely designed to take up to a 420MM AIO, but like I said earlier, these guys are chonky, so I ended up actually having to switch one of the fans for a fan I had lying around to get the radiator to fit with the motherboard in a top mounted configuration

 I shut my system down and unplug it and bring it back to the bench. Clearly the plate isn't making the kind of contact I want.  So I remove the plate, and wow, the thermal paste shows that one side isn't making amazing contact. Well okay, I pull the plate with the bent thread post, and take it to my tool room, get some pliers, and carefully bend it back the few degrees it's off

Materials missing/not well built, support is non-existent.

Ahh, the Arctic Liquid Freezer II, the excellent performing cooler for those who don't give a sh*t about RGB.

 Oh and the best of all this cooler does not have LEDs! (LEDs consume energy and produce heat - so having them inside non-transparent case located under the desk is a pure waste).

 The cooler is also very quiet and dynamically adjusts fan speed based on the CPU temperature (load). I installed it in the "intake push" configuration. I have absolutely no complains. It just works - quietly and efficiently

The Noctua NH-C14S was noise-normalised to 35dB(A) = 80% fan speed at 50cm distance from noise source (fan). There are no power limits on either CPU (both CPU are free to draw as much wattage as needed). CPU coolers have been cross-verified with other coolers to rule out mounting issues.

 You've only got about 40 millimeters, so good looking in the case. Really, really easy to install both of these Noctua coolers, the 15S and the 14S. Now getting a look at the performance of the NH-C14S, 4770K stock settings. Obviously not going to make any of these coolers winch

 Now, for the longest time, the NH-14 has been the go-to as far as top-down coolers. It has always been the top-of-the-line performance, enthusiast top-down cooler. So if you're building something with smaller form factor or whatnot, it was always the go-to piece. Now, it did have one little issue, though, in that on micro ATX motherboards, it interfered with the first PCI express slot

 That also gives you 70 millimeters of RAM clearance, if that is a concern, under the cooler when it's mounted. NFA-14 fan, 1500 RPM, 14 inch or 140 millimeter fan, I should say, 1500 RPM, 24.6 TBA. So you get, you know, the good Noctua fan, nice, silent, smooth sounding, delivers a lot, a lot of airflow

 Now, when you take a look at the NH-14S, it is exactly the same piece as the NH-14 with one little difference. And you can see it right here in the front, offset design for PCI express clearance. Now, it doesn't always apply just to ITX boards. You do have a lot of PCI express slots that are getting kind of close to the CPU sockets these days

Noctua NH C14S High Compatibility CPU Cooler Overview, Installation and Benchmarks

 From here on both platforms remove the fan of the cooler, splash some thermal paste onto your CPU and then slap the enormous heatsink on top of that and screw it down through the holes in the heatsink. Now at this point we can install the fan and doing this will have a huge impact on hardware compatibility. By default Noctua usually portrays the cooler as having the fan mounted on top of it. And this is the so called high clearance mode

 Now with all of these modes out of the way let's go to the actually important part of this review. Benchmarks. Upon summoning the devil on the 3900X the C14S managed to cool it down to 57°C above ambient. That's solid 6°C better than the smaller L12S

 For an Intel CPU we need to take the provided Intel backplate and shove the Intel screws through the holes and fix them on the other side using the plastic washers. And make sure to click the screws into the outer hole for LGA1700 and the inner ones for everything else. From here position the backplate behind the motherboard, take the spacers, blue for LGA1700 and black for everything else and position them onto the outsticking piece of screw. From here we need to position the mounting brackets in an outward pointing position with the screw end pointing upwards and then just make sure that both sides are symmetrically positioned and then screw everything down using the nuts

 This is meant for people that really want to use this monster of a cooler but can't afford the height. This will just mean that the overhang will be on the VRM heatsink side and this will either just not work or you have really good VRM heatsinks on there and oh yeah and the pipes will also probably hit your RAM so just no you can't install it in all four directions. Now with all of these modes out of the way let's go to the actually important part of this review. Benchmarks

Noctua NH-C14s Review - Noctua's C-Shaped Monster

  Sound: I'm still running with the chassis sitting on the top of my desk (facing backwards), and sounds from the heat sink are non-existent. A slow ceiling fan in the office is the loudest item there.

 The core v21 height is tall enough to handle this heat sink easily, even with two 140mm case fans connected to the top of the case.  Thermal performance: I haven't run intensive cpu tasks or overclocking yet, but a 2-hour gaming session never sent the cpu temps above 45C. While the heat sink is responsible for that, the thermaltake core v21 is amazing with airflow, and my GPU running full force never went above 58C. Definitely room for some overclocking if I ever feel CPU limited

 2) The video card's back is VERY close to interfering with the heat sink. It makes it, but there are only a couple millimeters (maybe 1/8th inch) separation between the two. The core v21 height is tall enough to handle this heat sink easily, even with two 140mm case fans connected to the top of the case.  Thermal performance: I haven't run intensive cpu tasks or overclocking yet, but a 2-hour gaming session never sent the cpu temps above 45C

Excellent cooling, tricky to install

 Plus the cooler really looks AWESOME in my case.  **** I want to buy another one to display on a shelf in my office!!! ****

  I had started noticing the fan on the stock cooler, which I had set to run at normal speed per the motherboard (around 2000 rpm). It has that characteristic small fan whine. That was keeping the CPU at around 60c when running intensive games. I tried setting the fan to quiet (1000rpm) which helped, and did notice the CPU temps ramping up into the high 60c range, so I reset the fan back to 2k

Good experience cooling a z370 coffee lake cpu.

 Not sure what the most efficient cooling position is and Noctua instructions did no say but they did note the upper position is the more quiet position besides including two extra fan wire holders if you want to run two fans in both mounting positions (and noted to use the throttle cable on the upper fan in that configuration). The setup is large but horizontal and would clear everything in my case even if using two fans. Upper PCIe slot is available with the setup. Memory sticks nearer the heat pipes can be removed without much trouble

 Fan only maxed to 976rpm but I never heard it during the quick test. Entire system spiked once to 95watts but CPUs drew no more than 40watts during the test.  Anyway, you get the idea and I get the silence I always dreamed about with a computer chip that is in the middle of the road for heat production (this model normally runs cool even if overclocked 4g+).  Noctua literature says this newer model 'S' was tweaked to clear an upper PCIe slot and memory size conflicts plus made this design more efficient with the use of only one fan albeit a larger 140mm, works for me

  At 500rpm for my AMD 65watt-TDP 'A' Series 4 cores + 8 graphic cores CPU/APU chip, this cooling system keeps it running 20c or less above ambient.temperature and does it silently and I mean silently. When I set the rpm to 1500rpm it will sound a noticeable 'whirr' and at the same time created a breeze outside my mid tower case (I kid you not). At this speed the chip temperature is about the same at idle when running at 500rpm

Did I Tell You It Is Quiet?

 Each portion of the cooler (CPU adapter, cooler itself, thermal paste, etc) were in separate boxes that fit exactly in the main box. Everything was kept safe during shipping so no bent or damaged fins.  I can say enough about the quality and ease of installation on this cooler. Definitely a top notch product I would buy again if I needed another cooler

The tower is high enough to clear medium height RAM, but too tall to use a 25mm thick fan on top in space restricted cases. Thus the tower is not suitable for top mount fan OR use with tall RAM. Just a little taller and the fan would fit underneath, just a little shorter and the fan would fit on top. Noctua chose to build this in the middle making it of no use at all
