Excellent for schoolwork.

I am a full time college student, and I needed an affordable, portable, low cost laptop that I could use for primarily schoolwork. So far, this laptop has met and exceeded those expectations from somewhat fast internet usuage to Microsoft Office and other applications. The Microsoft Office 365 for a year is a definetily a plus, but since I'm a college student, I was able to receive Microsoft Office pro plus for free. Gaming isn't great by any means but Minecraft for Windows 10 runs flawlessly on this laptop

Battery Life

All it needed was a totally new keyboard and faster processors

2GHz to get something done and then ramp it back down to 1.1GHz to preserve heat and battery life. This is a pretty normal strategy now.

Negative

A good deal on a small laptop with SSD. Definitely get the 64GB version

So far the battery life, with standard settings, has been very good. If you fnd this one on sale, its a good deal.

Performance

Verdict – The Core i3 is the better choice for everyday tasks

There are also noticeable advantages in terms of the emissions, and especially the fan is much quieter with a slower maximum speed. This means the i3 MacBook Air is quieter for longer periods of time, even when you stress it.The MacBook Air with the dual-core i3 processor is the better device for basic workloads. The subjective performance impression is very good in these scenarios, the fan is quieter, and you can still enjoy the good display as well as the improved keyboard

Buyers should find out in advance whether the software they use could run into trouble or whether there are alternatives. However, any limitations in the app selection from this are balanced by the numerous newly added iOS apps that will run perfectly thanks to the ARM chip. The new Apple chips celebrate a successful debut in the MacBook Air. With maturing software, probably no one will miss the Intel chips in the Mac in the future

HP Stream 11-y010nr Review

Build quality is decent; there's little flex in the screen though there is some in the middle of the keyboard tray. We appreciate the Dell XPS-style pair of nearly full-width feet that give the Stream a nonskid bottom for desk placement. Opening the lid reveals a wide bezel around the display and a set of white keys that contrast nicely with the blue, even if they do lend a sort of Fisher-Price "My First Laptop" look to the system. The touchpad is a slightly darker shade of blue

RELEASED TOO SOON

I didn't know enough to immerse myself in the (hard-to-find) Essentials Manual before touching the FORCE touchpad. Took a long time that to realize that "force" really meant FORCE (as in "smash it down" ) There is a System Preferences bypass, but I got embroiled in a DARK MODE display (black screen), missing cursor, and of course loss of Intel-chip based favorite apps which all took precedence over trying to find and read a possible Manual. Help menu did not help.

I have had many laptops with touchpads in the past, but I had to use a wireless mouse with them to be productive. The touchpad on the HP Stream is so good that I do not have to use an external mouse at all. I do not use the internal storage for anything except a few files on the desktop (and Win 10, of course). I have a 128 GB SD card plugged in at all times and I am thinking about upgrading to 200 GB or 256 GB SD

The keyboard is fantastic, and I have no issues writing for hours on it. The screen could use a little work, but the computer cost two hundred dollars. I have no issues connecting to my home or work wifi. It handles internet browsing and videos very well, but I have to be cognizant of how many programs/internet tabs I have running at once or things start to run a little more slowly

Cooling System

The new Arm-based system has exceeded almost every expectation

The other differences are all on the inside. There’s no fan anymore, for one thing, just an aluminum heat spreader. But even when pushing this machine to its absolute limit, I never felt it get more than a little warm. Apple knows what the thermal ceiling for this system is, and it keeps the MacBook well within it

I don't hear a fan running nor do I see venting for a fan. Battery life is average to slightly short. I might look for something with a more durable case, longer battery like & cooler better ventilated charger and laptop when the need arises.
