 So we have to open up the lid. Here's what the inside looks like. So let's say if you guys want to move it around, there's literally nothing that sticks on there. So if you guys want to cook like egg or anything else, what if you guys want to cook in here, that is totally up to you guys

 So the small one is basically 8 inch and the big one is 10 inch. So if I bring it up close, here is basically what the product looks like. So the inner layer they do have the non-stick coating on here. So you definitely want to take care of it correctly when you guys do use it

 Now to come to unboxing and testing the pot out. Now to answer the question of whether or not it's actually worth it or not. So for this set, I do have to say that it is pretty worth it if you guys want one and need one of these, especially if you guys are trying to look for some pots that are not that big. Then I do have to say that it is pretty worth it

 So I believe for this product it does allow you guys to use it on gapped stovetop and you can definitely use it on induction cooktop as well. But the way how to design all the pots and pans has a similar design. So if you guys take a look at the 8 inch, it basically has the same design. It is slightly smaller

Should You Buy? AmazonBasics Non-Stick Cookware Set

 But I don't like it. What I do like is when a product I buy on Amazon exceeds my wildest expectations. Not that my expectations for this cookware set were all that wild. Rather tame actually, considering my general aversion to cooking in general

 However, after having had and used this set for some time now, I must say I am most impressed. Not downright giddy mind you, but impressed. I can't talk of cookware going for a lot more than this, but I'm not sure buying such would be worth the extra money anyway because these are simply great. Very solid and well put together, heat absorption and duration are excellent and the heavy glass lids add a lot to the general overall feeling of quality here

As someone who does not like cooking, I find myself using these all the time now, and cooking up a lot of variety of recipes (a lot of my own creation) I never thought I'd try

Steaks formed a deeply crisp crust, tarte Tatin caramelized beautifully and released neatly, and fried eggs just slipped around in the pan.

 I had to scour with a soft scrub sponge and re-season to get it back to useful. Some of the work is on my end, finding the right flame level and amount of oil to get the results I want without searing things to the bottom. But this tool requires a lot of maintenance. It's equivalent to taking care of a cast iron pan: wipe / scrape / rinse with water to clean, heat dry it, give it a light oil coat when its dry

 1 star removed for the copious unnecessary scratches and toolmarks on the pan (all around the inner rim, toolmark on the cooking surface, some marks around the lip), and the less-than-encouraging set of vague directions for seasoning.

 The Matfer seasoning recipe is a little strange, involving potato peelings and a ton of salt. Some people seem to have achieved success using other seasoning methods more in line with traditional cast iron seasoning. I used the Matfer method and found the potato peels and salt were good for being able to keep coverage all the way up the lip of the pan, in addition to whatever chemistry reasons Matfer has for prescribing them.  The end result: A lightly bronzed pan with no structural warp that I could detect (I checked level on our quartz counter)

 There is a small scratch on the surface but its steel and will buff out after seasoning, not an issue. The edges are sharp and can cut you if not careful, I recommend going-over it lightly with some fine-grade sandpaper to buff out the burrs and remove that hazard. The handle is long and seems comfortable, it has nothing but a wax-coating and can safely be used in the oven.  It appears to be good quality, I have no complaints so far, just that its too big for my needs

 Again, I'm returning it and haven't used it as it appears too large for my needs (1-2 people, occasionally 3-4) however if you do regularly cook for lots of people, this may be the pan for you.  #Update #1 I got the 10 1/4 in size, posted a picture next to the 11 7/8 for comparison. Appears to hold 2, maybe 3 eggs most. Weight is much more reasonable and balanced, seems like a great mid-size pan but may be slightly too small for my needs 😬, still better than the 11 7/8

 I decided to do the ever so popular egg test with a typical amount I would use on my 18/10 pan. Let first say I gradually brought temperature up in a 5 minute range. Got it to about 5 on stove and the butter was bubbling ready for the egg. I had a good initial sizzle and I have to say the egg was slipping all over very easily

 I have seen this method done and it gives it great results. The biggest problem I had with this pan is the cleaning. Be prepared to clean this pan vigorously before seasoning. The seasoning will not adhere properly if the wax coating is not removed from factory

 for French toast, but I thought it was time to try out carbon steel. Now, seasoning a carbon steel pan is a little different than a cast iron pan. It takes a little more patience, and finesse. The attached photo is my pan after a half dozen or so uses

 One thing I have learned is to avoid high temps, I try to keep the surface between 300° and 325° when browning, any higher, and food seems to stick, esp. high moisture foods.

 With a significant handle. I've had it about 5 weeks now, and I'm finally getting the hang of it. I got tired of buying a new frying pan every year. The aluminum hard anodized are great, until they wear, and they do wear, even though I only use plastic utensils, and a non-stick safe scotch brite pad to clean them

  So this pan takes up a lot of room for the relatively small cooking area if offers. Additionally, the handle is extremely long. So much so that even this smaller size pan will not fit in my oven. Not only is the handle long, but it is heavy and tends to weight down one side of the pan so it tilts on the burner and drains the fluid ingredients to one side and creates uneven cooking because the ingredients do not stay centered (unless the pan is full) and because one side of the pan is not touching the burner as well as the other

 Does this pan work like coated pans? No. But it's better then traditional iron pans, and even if you get lazy on your seasoning (employing the non stick process) it is still quite forgiving and easy to clean.  This pan has the potential to be great. Right now it's a solid 3

First off, after reading the many reviews about how this pan is not as big as advertised I thought I would need the 17" to get the size I wanted. Big mistake. The outer diameter on that unit is huge. It took up half my stove top space overlapping two burners

Good Pan that could easily be better

 Its heavy, just not as heavy as cast iron. I dont flip foods in it like I do my non-stick and my All Clad because they are light. I dont make gravies, or tomato sauces, chili, stews or roasts in my carbon steel. I could, but I go for cast iron or stainless as the better match, but out of 50 meals or dishes, based on how and what I cook, 30 of them would be in carbon steel, 10 in stainless, 8 cast iron, 2 in nonstick

  SUMMARY - This is my go to pan because it matches me. I never put it up as it always on my stove. Its heavy, just not as heavy as cast iron. I dont flip foods in it like I do my non-stick and my All Clad because they are light

 Cast iron is practically indestructible on the stove or on a fire.  VERSATILITY - 3 stars - I use this pan the most because its meets my cooking trends and personality, however I believes its the least versatile or tied for last with the non-stick. I find my ALL Clad stainless the most versatile and if I could have only one pan, a 12 in All Clad stainless even though I use mine less than this carbon steel pan.  VALUE - 4 stars - a really good pan at a logical and decent price

My go to pan....but not the most versatile

 I'm a lightweight adult male and can comfortably pick it up one-handed and toss food in it. (I would not do the same with the Lodge.) It's too heavy for my (much smaller) wife to do the same.  Between my 8" de Buyer and 10" Matfer Bourgeat carbon steel pans, I prefer the Matfer Bourget

  I've never gotten Teflon-like non-stick performance, but it's better than stainless and plenty good for everyday cooking with eggs and fish.  I use this pan most of the time, but there are niche use cases when I reach for something else: - A nonstick pan (didn't list it above because it's a sauté pan) for delicate foods that I *really* don't want to stick - Stainless steel for cooking acidic stuff like tomato sauces (they can mess with the pan's seasoning if they sit in it too long) - Clad stainless when extra-even heat retention is needed (though I've not had trouble with this in practice)  For reference, I've used this pan for just over 3 years.

This pan is a great all-arounder that I usually reach for when I need a medium pan. I personally enjoy cooking with it more than my similar stainless and cast iron pans.  More details:  - Handle's shape works well for tossing - Handle length helps it dissipate heat so it's more comfortable to grip while in use - The whole pan, handle included, is oven-safe - Handle is welded to the pan so there are no rivets. This is awesome because it makes the pan easier to clean - Angled sides are great for tossing (small stir fry, flipping eggs, etc

) - Moderately nonstick once it's seasoned (but initial seasoning is trickier than cast iron) - It ships with a protective coating that takes a frustrating amount of elbow grease to remove - After years of use, it's developed a barely-perceptible warp on high heat that doesn't seem to affect cooking on an electric range  I have frying pans from Lodge, de Buyer (Mineral B) Cuisinart (Multi-Clad Pro), and All-Clad (D3) that I can compare this to.  Shape-wise it's similar to my All-Clad and de Buyer pans; its sides have a lower angle (~45°) than the more vertical Lodge or Cuisinart sides. I think the lower angle is more generally useful because it works well for tossing and also makes it easier to slip spoons or spatulas under whatever's cooking.  It's heavier than stainless pans (1724g vs my 10" Cuisinart's 1081g) but lighter than cast iron (my 10" Lodge is 2483g)
