 The second test uses the AIDA64 Extreme Stability Test benchmark, which creates an unrealistically high CPU load. This type of load will not be encountered in any scenario in your daily life, games or even video rendering. The purpose of this test is to just push its CPU cooler to its very limit and see the cooling potential, and in this test our cooler reached a maximum temperature of 98°C with the factory fan installed. I was also talking about those alternative modes that you can have with this cooler and to get as much performance as I could, I decided to install an additional 120mm fan above the heatsink

 The active cooling is done by a single 92mm fan, which is also slim, with a thickness of just 15mm. This fan is made by Applephone and has a minimum speed of 800rpm and a maximum speed of 2800rpm. Alpenföhn Black Ridge - CPU Cooler Review

It's a Dan A4 with Alpenfohn Black Ridge cooler, i5 11600K, a 6600XT and an MSI Spatium 1TB ssd (arguably the best thing about this build since it's sooooo damn fast. Coming from a spacious Cooler Master H500, I was honestly really impressed with the thermals here! Sure I tweaked the fan curve since I don't mind her getting a bit loud, but the 6600XT is 55° under max load, and the CPU rarely hitting 70° except for Prime95, which brought it to 100° (didn't throttle though). I'm literally so glad I can fit my PC in my backpack along with my Macbook!

Cooler: Alpenfohn Black Ridge (had to be modified with a dremel to clear the motherboard, feels bad man). Has a 120mm slim (15mm) Arctic fan, thankfully the sides are acrylic so had some bend to them. Also had to remove the choker of a heatsink on the nvme drives but temps seem absolutely fine atm.

 But yeah, definitely under 50mm in height, this is the cooler to get. Also, if you have a Dan A4 SFX, I mean, it's a pretty much a no-brainer there. It was designed by the creator of the Dan A4 after all. The only better option there would be the 92mm AIO, but not everyone wants to go down that route

 For reference, many competing low profile coolers use four heat pipes. So on paper, at least the Blackridge does have an advantage. The most important spec worth mentioning, though, is the height of the low profile cooler itself, seeing as this will limit what cases are compatible. And I can only really think of two, maybe three cases off the top of my head that aren't compatible with the Alpenfoam Blackridge

 If you have a Velcro 5, this is the cooler to get. If you have any case that requires a CPU cooler that's under 50mm in height, even under 60mm in height, I would consider this. But yeah, definitely under 50mm in height, this is the cooler to get. Also, if you have a Dan A4 SFX, I mean, it's a pretty much a no-brainer there

 You've got the stock configuration out of the box with the stock 92 mil fan underneath. Then if you have some VLP or very low profile memory dims handy, you can swap that out for a high performing slim 120 mil fan. Or if you have the additional clearance available, you can mount a 120 mil fan on top of the cooler, whether that's a slim fan or full sized fan depends on your clearance. The mounting brackets are also included in the box, and they're nice and easy to use, too, both for the slim and full sized fans

 The faster fan and denser fin stack of the Hyper 212 produce 55.1 decibels of noise while the Vetro comes in under 50 dB and the GameMax was the quietest at 46.7 dB. Finally looking at cost comparison the GameMax is the apparent winner with a price point of just $24

 As for the Game Max 400 it performs almost identically to the VETRO V5 for the same price and is slightly quieter but it's ugly. Anyone who's been following the channel for a while knows that I'm all about price to performance but I gotta be honest the performance is practically identical as long as VETRO continues to offer the coupon the price is identical but the VETRO V5 comes in white or black and has a fully addressable RGB fan so it'll match basically any build or theme. I mean aesthetics might not be something I can numerically graph on a chart but it's important to many people when selecting PC components. Anyway those are the VETRO V5's pros it performs well it's inexpensive it's relatively quiet and it has a good design and aesthetic the only con I really see is it doesn't come with any type of RGB controller so if your motherboard doesn't have a 3 pin 5 volt ARGB header you'll need some type of controller to use the RGB function

 Now it might seem counterintuitive that removing a chunk of the heatsink would make it more efficient and this is done for efficiency not for any fitment reasons that cut out part of the heat fins is where the most heat would be absorbed from the heat pipes but doesn't get any cooling airflow as it's blocked by the square corners of the fan so by cutting that section out you can spread the heat more evenly to the fins that have direct airflow. So where would I rate this among the coolers tested well the Hyper 212 Evo had the best cooling performance but it's loud and too expensive in my opinion it was a great go to cooler for a lower budget build when it was one of the very few coolers with good performance for under 30 bucks but now the field has gotten larger and the price of the Hyper 212 has gone up.  so here are my thoughts:  Pros: - Surprisingly good cooling! I was blown away by how good this little guy is (check screenshots). Idle temps are very much under control: low 30s all day. Even lower if you can get by the noisy fan (more on that later). Load temps never seem to cross 70s

 But if you just want something that'll keep your CPU cool, you're on a budget, and won't do any crazy overclocking, then this is a bargain. Go right ahead! For me, I'll be going back to be quiet.

 That's fine for most CPUs, especially AMD's Ryzen, but a lot of Intel users might wanna look elsewhere.  The bottom line is that this an AMAZING cooler for the money. Don't even consider the Hyper 212 from CoolerMaster with this on the market, it's just better. It's got very good heat dissipation, it has 5 heatpipes that feel more than adequate for most people, the included fan feels pretty high quality, the colors are vibrat and it's ARGB, it's black and I even wouldn't mind the loudness if it was a good sound signature

Yes it has thermal problems out of the box, but they can be remedied with a Vetroo v5 cpu cooler off amazon and a 92mm fan at the front as an intake. You’ll also need a fan splitter cable as there’s no extra fan headers on the motherboard. There’s a hard drive cage at the front that you’ll want to remove so you can put the intake fan there.

 I used the included RGB fan for the rear exhaust and it matched the 2 front RGB fans that came with my Phanteks P360A which is my most enjoyable PC build ever. $70 for that case and it was quality all around. Built in controller, excellent paint job, 2 RGB fans. My toddler better enjoy this rig

  I believe that the cooler does a good job similar to Hyper 212 (from what the reviewers show) but I really won't know till it's installed on my future AM4 build for my kid. This old system doesn't show accurate temps as it reads 19c under Prime95 on a 95w TDP FX4300.  I would recommend this cooler for modern systems but can't vouch for the installation method yet. The reviewers mostly seemed to like the install of the cooler

  Description states it's compatible with AM3 but did they ever test it on these older sockets? This experience is hopefully and likely not to be the case on the modern AM4 setup. My guess is the screws will be much closer to the OEM backplate compared to the gap on the AM3+ setup.  I bought this to mainly have it ready for the AM4 future setup and figured I would replace the cheesy AM3+ FX4300 OEM cooler in the meantime. I have 20yrs experience in building computers

 Quiet, effective. My idle temperature immediately dropped from 55 Celsius to about 40 Celsius. In game, I hover between 60 and 70 Celsius. I'm using a closed case, so I didn't bother hooking up the RGB to anything

  I have read that others attached extra "intake" fans to their cases and made other modifications. I was just concerned with getting the CPU temperature down, and I have accomplished that. I think I'm "done".  Why didn't I just call Dell? I read a few places that the missing stock "tower" cooler might not be as effective as this one, even if they bothered shipping it to me

and 100+ degrees Celsius on the CPU. Whatever Dell engineer thought the stock cooler was okay for an i7 processor - 65-watts or not - should immediately lose their job. I experimented by taking the side panel off and blasting a full-size box fan into the case. This lowered the CPU temperature to about 85 Celsius in-game

 Normally I don't order pre-built, but in this time of Covid, semiconductor shortages, crypto-miners, and (insert a LOT of vulgar adjectives) scalpers, it cost barely more to order this computer than to purchase a standalone RTX 3060 Ti by itself.  The new Dell came with the a crappy, dinky little stock fan, not the big tower cooler pictured in their manual.  With the inadequate stock fan, I loaded up Horizon Zero Dawn, and instantly got 100+ fps.

 Frequently cheaper coolers that advertise having 5 heat pipes have 3 full pipes and 2 half length pipes, which doesn’t improve cooling performance much over just having 4 heat pipes, if at all. - Comes in both white and black for themed builds - Easy no hassle mounting. Far easier to mount on an Intel cpu than run-of-the-mill hyper 212 clones that use an adapter to mimic the AMD socket or even the original hyper 212 plus. - Stays snug against my cpu and can’t wiggle around

 If I hadn't already left a 5 star review, I definitely would want to give this a 5 star review now.  At a glance this cooler seems like a run of the mill hyper 212 clone, but it has a few noteworthy features that set it apart. The foremost of these are the 5 heat pipes rather than the normal 4, the easy mounting system (far easier than a lot of others from my experience), and the cooler coming in black and white instead of exposed aluminum.  Pros: - 5 full heat pipes instead of the standard 4 or “5” on most hyper 212 clones

 I'm running an Intel i5-10400F, and this cooler dropped temps a good 7-8 c or better. Under load (Dishonored 2 at max 1440, Crysis remastered, Doom Eternal, etc.) CPU temps never go above 45c with this. I'm also using high quality thermal paste, but this cooler does its job!  All that said, installing was a bit of a pain

The quick version - the fan & heatsink are excellent. Good build quality, and it absolutely drops CPU temps. I'm running an Intel i5-10400F, and this cooler dropped temps a good 7-8 c or better. Under load (Dishonored 2 at max 1440, Crysis remastered, Doom Eternal, etc
